Very pleasant barmaid who checked me into my room. She was very friendly & accommodating, explained everything necessary & quickly checked me into my room with zero fuss. The bar appeared to be buzzing with locals enjoying themselves. My room was reasonably small but cozy, nicely made twin beds, with fresh linen & towels. All the usual facilities including toilet, bath, shower, wardrobe, desk, kettle, hangers, ironing board, iron, bedside tables, night lamps, TV, & even a hairdryer. The shower was very powerful. I was very pleased with my room.
The room itself was a little outdated, it could do with a lick of fresh paint to freshen up the place. The windows were old & not double glazed so the sound from the pub guests in the beer garden was louder than necessary. The TV occasionally lost signal during usual programming. The carpets were quite old & in need of replacement, they had very clearly not been vacuumed properly with food crumbs & hair/pet fur in the carpet. The bathroom floor could have done with a good scrub & a mop. The cleanliness was not up to par. A little rust on the towel rail, very old-fashioned curtains, and a flickering light in the bathroom. The hot tap on the sink faucet ran scolding hot without warning, there was not a sign to suggest it would get so hot so quickly so I nearly burnt myself. The door lock was very stiff so it was difficult to unlock/lock the door to my room with the key.

Amazing staff, very good at a budget price. It’s not trying to be something it isn’t.

Located in the beautiful Hampshire Countryside within the pleasent village of Kingsclere, the pub has a lovely warm atmosphere with Staff who were lovely and made our stay as comfortable as they could. We found it easy to park on both nights and with our room just a few feet away from the car park we didnt have any stairs or steps to worry about. And the place was a cheep as chips. The Shower was easily accesable, powerful and nice and hot. Wi Fi was free, but not good connection and the TV was good, but the signal was
The Room felt tired, smelt of dog and was in need of a spruce-up. The bed was good and large, but was as hard as rock. The Bathroom had a lingering smell, the toilet didnt flush well (needing 2 or 3 flushes each time) and the cold water tap dripped constantly. The noise from the pub car park is loud and doesnt go quiet until about 11pm.
