Cozy hotel near everything

Location and style, decoration and books around, free water and the pub donwstairs, looks fresh young and cozy at the same time.

A bit noisy when the pub is full or there is any event downstairs, nothing too bad.

Great, central, comfy place

We stayed one night, and really enjoyed the room. Great location for train station and restaurants. Easy check in. Elevator/ lift. Room was spacious, comfortable and clean. And, some beautiful decor eg wallpaper and bathroom floor and tiles We both slept well: dark, very quiet, comfy bed, duvet, and pillows. Importantly, the place was WARM😁 Kettle, coffee machine, tea and coffee, and water. Also, a sofa and TV I would definitely come back and would recommend the place

There were no windows you could open. Not possible to ventilate the room or get fresh air. But, it still did not feel stuffy

Excelent location, easy to walk to from the station an a spacious modern look and feel to the room.

Very central location walcable from the train station. Nice modern look and feel of the rooms. The room was also spacious. I would recomend anyone to stay there.

The only thing I remember that the room was a bit warm when I walked in, I just had to lower the termostat and all was good.

Thoroughly Enjoyable NYE night with Lostcity

Great location and comfortable room, was NYE and Lostcity (Reading renowned DJs) were hosting which topped off the night. Breakfast was a basic stir pot porridge, orange juice fruit and biscuits. Greggs opposite though so problem solved.

Fits the purpose, great central location but avoid in winter or during building works!

Location is fantastic. The room was clean.

It felt cold to me and could not get it cozy warm . Building works outside disturbed our morning. The shower was super slippery - I have risked huge injuries to my already bad hip- I literally was sliding down?!! Cheap plastic coating plus my hair conditioner=bad danger. Drink cups were tiny- for an avid tea drinker those tiny coffee cups were not suitable.

The toilet seat was broken, the shower didn’t drain so it flooded the floor, poor lighting in the room so you can’t see properly when getting ready. No iron or ironing board in the room. Very noisy outside in the early mornings

Room was clean and the breakfast bag and coffee machine was a good idea. The shower was amazing with plenty of hot water. The bed was very comfortable and the room overall was interesting.

The hotel was not completely renovated and the corridors smelt of cigarette smoke. The rooftop bar area ment there was a lot of loud music and noise until past 11pm. The toilet flushing handle was poorly designed and clashed with the toilet seat. The shower flooded the bathroom floor a little bit.

Exceltionally clean and spacious room with thoughtful breakfast bag and free tea and coffee. Bar downstairs was very lively but good noise insulation

Shelf above sink made cleaning your teeth a challenge without making a mess! Stairwell needs a little t&c, but rooms were fab

Fantastic location

The room was lovely and clean, very comfortable bed and excellent location and considering it being in the centre of town it was very quiet

The left was out of order so wasn’t fun on my knee walking up the stairs and the room was absolutely freezing and the heating cranked up high didn’t make any difference until the next day when we left, fortunately I was able to buy a hot water bottle At Marks and Spencer before it closed to heat the bed up

Great value, friendly staff, and very convenient location but can have street noise.

Breakfast box was a bonus I didn't expect - thank you! Everything was clean and comfortable; the room was well-provided with hooks for clothing and lovely large bath towel - plus tea & coffee supplies. I also appreciated small refrigerator to leave food overnight. Staff was very welcoming and accommodating.

The convenient downtown location (walkable from train station & Abbey) means there can be street noise which cannot be controlled by The Market House. All was quiet from about 10:30 p.m. when fewer public buses passed - until, unfortunately, a person was very loud outdoors about 5:30 a.m.

Brilliant place to stay, can't wait to go back.

Always love staying at Market House as the rooms are lovely and comfortable. I was especially impressed with the breakfast bag which is a lovely addition and more than enough. There is plenty of milk and teas and coffee pods which makes a change compared to other hotels.

Boutique hotel experience in a central location

Lovely comfortable room With quirky touches. Location was perfect - just a few minutes walk from shops and the train station, as well as bus stop for buses to the University and to Heathrow.

Friday night it was a bit noisy with the music coming from the bar. But it didn’t go on too late.

Great little place to stay in the centre of Reading

I found my stay very comfortable, and was impressed with the decor and cleanliness. Check-in was handled by the bar staff at the venue on the ground floor. I was able to find all the amenities and supplies that I needed.

The breakfast option could be improved. A little bag was provided with plain porridge, an apple, and some biscuits. I really need more to set me up for the day but was not successful in finding anywhere nearby for anything substantial. Next time I will know to ask / research more in advance. It would be great if there was a local place you could do a deal with - or if a facility such as a buffet could be provided on-site, I would be prepared to pay a little more for that.

Central & stylish hotel with fabulous roof terrace.

Lovely room and bathroom, nice touches coffee machine, and a beer! Roof top terrace perfect.

Not being able to see out of the windows, but assume there is no view hence opaque glass.

Big comfortable room, cracking bathroom, full power shower,. Quality tea, coffee, biscuits and oats

Great value, location beside museum, 7 mins walk to train station, another 5 to river and class Lido / Spa. Free bottle of Corona in the room and lotsa goodies, big active bar, night music even stopped at 12, 9oldie needs his sleep), friendly bar staff and young lady in charge of rooms on check-out was really nice.

Pleasant stay in a stylish, fun room in the heart of town.

The room was a good size and was stylishly furnished. It was in a good location in the centre of town. It wasn’t too far from the station. The bathroom was really smart, with a good shower and big bath towels.

The breakfast was a bit disappointing, as it was just a few items in a takeaway bag. It was a bit noisy in the morning, as it was on a bus route.

I felt funny just picking the highest rating for each section but I really can’t take points off for anything. We loved it and were very pleasantly surprised! Lots of little details like a bag of breakfast foods and a beer you can take down to the bar to exchange for a cold one. Everything spotless. Staff and checking easy

Lovely place to stay in reading

Everything was really good easy to get to and not far from any places to eat and drink also the room you can hardly hear the pub downstairs comfy bed

Only thing I saw which was bit health and safety was there was not sticker to say that the shower had a step also no bath mat for any water that stops water going on floor that may slip on

It was a great place and i would certainly consider staying there again. Great value for money.

Well because it cost so little, my expectations were low so was greatly surprised by almost everything. You couldn’t have asked for much more. If i had to criticise anything it would be that it could have better lighting, and breakfast was not good for us as my husband is a coeliac and im lactose intolerant. So before leaving us a bag of breakfast items it may have been better to find out allergies intolerances etc. but overall it was great.

The room is lovely and cosy, as described. The to-go breakfasts are a great touch. Location is convenient for Reading centre and rail station

There is little soundproofing and unfortunately there are substantial building works going on next door beginning around 8 am, so a lie-in or working in the room is challenging.

The rooms are beautiful. Very well designed. Very clean. Also cool on a very hot day!

I didn’t realise how noisy it would be on a Saturday night, as the rooms are above a pub. My fault…..however it all stopped at midnight! Great nights sleep followed.
