Location, rooms all good

Misleading in a couple of areas - “5 minute walk to Q Car Park”. It isn’t, it is well over 10 minutes. Other car park is closer but more expensive. Disappointed by this as I had a car and relied on this information. Also, bar shown on website as open until midnight - but on each night, it was closed earlier even though I was sat there, as other people had left. Again misleading. Also I expect for a hotel of this positioning they will either have a gym, or a relationship with a nearby gym for guests. This was a surprising gap - I’ve not been in a hotel without this offering for some time

Room was quiet, and bed was comfortable

Breakfast. The dining area was very cold. Needed to wear coats. Limited selection of food. Service was OK. Pleased we did not choose to have an evening meal at the hotel restaurant.

There was no heating in the room. A plug-in radiator had been provided, but it barely kicked out any heat. I had to sleep wearing the two bathrobes provided as it was so cold. My party of 6 (all booked on my company account) arrived at 9pm and we were all tired having traveled down from Newcastle. We all decided to order room service. In the room there was a QR code which took me to the room service menu website. The website clearly said that the late night menu was available from 9pm, so I called RS to order from the night menu. However, I was told that despite what the website said, the night menu wasn't available until 9:30pm and to order something off the regular menu. I called RS back 10 minutes later to order off the regular menu and I was told that I couldn't order anything until 9:30pm when the restaurant was closed and the evening menu started. Obviously, this was very different to what was previously said and when I pointed this out, the woman on the other end got agitated with me and said, 'Just call back at 9:30pm' and then they hung up. I called back at what I thought was 9:30pm, and it was the same woman who answered the phone as before, and all she said was, 'I told you not to call back until 9:30pm' and hung up again. I purposely waited until 9:32pm to call back, only to be told by the same woman that the kitchen was no closed and the night menu wouldn't be available until 10:30pm!! Obviously, I was not happy and when I complained to the woman, and explained that everyone else in my party had been able to order room service, and that they were all on my corporate card and that she was jeopardising this corporate account (as our company always stays at the Malmaison when we are attend our Reading centre) she hung up again! I ended up not getting anything to eat, and couple this with a freezing cold room, it ended up being an awful night's stay.

A great day, clean, well presented hotel and every single member of staff very friendly and helpful

This is a great hotel. The location is oppositeReading Station so very convenient. Rooms are cosy,quiet and well appointed with quality tea/coffee in the room. Staff are friendly and helpful and most of all the breakfast is amazing!

Difficult to drop off/pick up outside the hotel as it is in a busy location
