Wonderful place to spend Valentine's weekend

Staff offer excellent customer service - they are very helpful. Decor, artwork, furniture and rooms are generally very nice. Ambiance of the hotel is excellent. Both the rooms and communal areas feel 5-star. Breakfast was delicious and well-cooked. Room service was delicious and arrived promptly. Bathrooms are a real highlight of the rooms at The Roseate.

No plug sockets next to the beds - had to plug in chargers etc. across the room. Television lacked smart app capabilities like Netflix. Some of the decor is beginning to look a bit shabby and worn in places - the longer you stay, the more you notice - needs some paint in communal areas (such as the elevators by the restaurant), some walls and on corners. It would be a shame for such a lovely hotel to become rundown due to a lack of investment.

Staff very ignorant and non responsive. No welcome, no instruction on bar, restaurant etc, room service wrong, room was freezing had to keep asking for more heaters which I had to go and get! £300 quid worst spent

Excellent rail located hotel in Reading

+ Friendly and welcoming reception + Quick and easy check in process + Sizable and comfortable room + All room amenities worked as expected + Delicious breakfast with attentive staff + Great location, opposite green park and only 500m to the train station + Check out process was smooth and efficient

- Room furniture was a little bit shabby/worn - Cooked breakfast took a long time to be served

Lovely comfortable room, staff excellent but accessible room not entirely accessible.

Large, lovely and clean room with coffee and tea available. Lovely and comfortable and the staff were excellent. We stayed over Christmas so the Christmas stocking left on our door was a lovely touch.

We asked for an accessible room but it wasn’t actually fully accessible. My husband is wheelchair bound, there were no arms on the shower chair, the sink was too high, no bar on the door to enable him to close the door. Toilet was too low. Things will never change until you ask someone who is wheelchair bound to design your accessible rooms.

Lack lustre welcome at check in, leaking toilet cistern which was reported but not fixed and loud music downstairs, presumably a Christmas party. This is not usual, been here many times before with much better experience

Great Location, Great Staff, Value for Money

We are regular customers for this hotel. When we come and visit Reading from Dubai, it’s our place to go to. This time we stayed in the new section of the hotel which is better than the old one.

The inconvenience of taking the luggage from the reception to the new building where our room was.

Very cold rooms.

The fire place in the lounge and comfy sofa was nice.

First executive room we was given was very cold. One small plug in heater in the corner which gave off no heat! No radiators at all. Didn't expect to check into a so called luxury hotel and not even be able to take coat and scarf off as the room was so cold. We complained and got moved to another room which had a working fire place in the lounge area, which was lovely and warm but again unfortunately the bedroom and bathroom area was both cold. We understand the building is a listed building but they could at least invest in some decent heaters that actually let off heat and don't make ticking noises the while time.

A lovely looking building in a perfect town centre location away from the traffic and noise.

The bed was uncomfortable. TV didn't work. Breakfast was terrible. Coffee, I imagine was instant, if you like that, it was great.

The location is amazing in the city centre.

The elevator was horrible, very old and scary. Also the elevator doors opened two sides where the other door is the kitchen, so the elevator smells crazy like you are in the fish store 😷. The hotel was overall nice but the elevator experience was tragedy!

For our first visit, it was wonderful. Lovely room, stunning food and just a lovely building to be in. We loved our little break, and the Afternoon Tea was delicious.

Perfect location . Quiet right by the park yet close to town , the Abby , the Thames River and train station by foot.Great restaurant on site and good breakfast.
