Very cold night - no heating at all - no milk for a hot drink

No radiator in room - no additional heater supplied to use . It said tea and coffee supplied however it didn’t say supply your own milk - I didn’t take milk with me and it was too late to go out for milk for a tea

Warm, clean, great location, easy/flexible check-in, despite strong smell of cigarettes.

Clean, great location, easy/flexible check-in instructions, and host was easy to get in touch with. Bathrooms and kitchen were similarly in great condition. Really appreciate that they left the heating on at night, was very worried to be cold during winter.

The room smelled overwhelmingly of cigarettes as it appears that people smoked right outside the front door, as a non-smoker it was quite unpleasant, and relatively loud. Would also appreciate a tv in the room.

My stay was bad, I didn’t enjoy it.

The property is in a good location

Communication was bad as I sent messages no one replied. The WiFi I was given was not working and I tried to reach out no one responded. The bed was noisy and irritating in Room 1. No proper directions of toilets and bathrooms. They should improve the signage communication.

Not worth the money.

The location is good.

The 2 showers on the first floor are broke I had to hold the shower head in my hand to have a shower and the window would not shut in room 5, Also very noisy in the place with doors slamming at unsociable hours so didn’t get much sleep.

Had to chase the guest house for information. Didn’t answer the phone. Room wasn’t ready and no key provided. Again didn’t answer the phone but sent a message with a room change. Incorrect code given, messaged again to get the correct code. Front door didn’t close, random people walking in trying to book in. I had to message to help them.

St Joseph's Guest house review

Location was great 15 minute walk from city centre. Access was easy via key codes and there was off road parking. Single room was small but bed was comfortable. Ideal for short overnight stay. It did the job.

Sharing a property with others without seeing staff was unusual. Room was basic, bed and desk only. Shared bathroom.not ideal. Bathroom and shower rooms were messy with so much use. Building was a little tired and needed updating.

Sorry the only thing what was ok was the women letting me and my girlfriend leave our bags so we could go for breakfast as someone took our food out of the fridge

This was my girlfriend birthday weekend she had just had a baby el needed to be down stairs we says this to them they says sorry we can't help and then we got food drinks and they were taken out of the fridge I was told they was a telly in the room and doesn't and I also got told the bath room would be clean it wasn't it was over priced for what you got I didn't get no sleep at all people was smoking green in there room smelling they room out tbh I am looking for a refund or something as it left my girlfriend gutted it's not right you did nothing thing knowing we didn't have no food when someone took ours

We came to Southampton for an overnight stay before a cruise starting the next day. St. Joseph's is a guest house (Air BNB?) with basic facilities (bed, wash/shower, brew etc.). This was expected (breakfast would have been nice -even at a higher price), but "you get what you pay for". We had no issues and the morning staff were very helpful. I would stsy there again!!!

Hard to get in with front door code. Couldn't open windows (French doors) due security, awful in this hot weather, and no aircon. Duvet heavy, sheets had stain. And pillow slips didn't feel clean. No shower gel. Occupants of next door room very noisy (singing til late).

nothing to be honest. my basic needs (to be able to breathe, sleep, comfort etc.) were not met.

1. You can not reach the staff, never answering their phones. 2.Pictures are misleading, common areas shown as they are the room you've booked, for your use only. (No TV, No microwave etc. in the room) 3. The room is too bright (no blinds) and hot (no air). When I arrived I told them I can't breathe and I don't feel okay, asked them for a room change because of emergency not for upgrading. They told me they were fully booked... so I had to stay in the common area, rather than the room I paid for... 4.This room was expensive and absolutely not worth the money.

My only good thing to say about this place, is that it was a place to sleep at night. If you could get sleep.

Where to start? Upon arrival, I couldn't access the building. The lock on the front door was incredibly awkward to manoeuvre, not to mention it kept informing me that it was running out of battery, which only made me more nervous. It took a while to reach the hostess, but I did eventually get into my room.... Which was tiny, nothing like advertised. A small box room with a wash basin in the corner. The shower and toilet were separate and an awkward wait while I waited for other people to finish. Over night, there was 20°c weather, and no fans were provided! I left my window open wide to get a little air in, only to be woken up at 3am to the sound of two angry guests struggling to gain access to the building, and many people would arrive throughout the night and leave, making the hall light come on. There's a small but noticeable gap in the door that allows a lot of light into the room. Needless to say, I didn't sleep well at all. The furniture is both lacking and broken, clearly no updates for quite a long time. I'm a young woman travelling solo, and honestly, I felt very uncomfortable and insecure. I understand that this sort of accommodation is for people in a pinch, but the budget shouldn't dictate comfort and security. I'm disappointed, and honestly, I won't be returning unless things change massively.

I also tried to contact the guest house several times before arriving, but could not get any contact. on arrival I found it difficult because I had no internet all day and the instructions to get into the property was sent via email
