As a spacious apartment above a former bank, the location is prime - no more than 100m to the main shopping street, and about 250m away from the Crescent, Glasshouse and parkland. The affordable long-stay "Slopes" car park is about 300m away with ticket hours 8am-6pm. The property owners were friendly, responsive and helpful which impresses us. The apartment, with central heating and some double glazing, includes a practical kitchenette and large bathroom fitted with a good shower and tub.
Although comfortable enough, it feels right now like an ongoing project to convert these former offices into a luxurious apartment for the catchment area (and this includes some very grand hotels to compete with). So at the moment, it has a lot of transformative character which some visitors may not tolerate.
The property owners told us there is free parking on site, but in all honesty, it would take some faith to use it - it's not clearly marked as an official bay which begs for traffic warden attention, and is located right in the path of late night revellers and delivery trucks in the morning. The lounge and dining areas face out onto the busy main road with a pedestrian crossing active for much of the day. As such, it can be a noisy location in an otherwise sleepy Buxton.

Fantastic apartment, great hosts central location. Beautifully decorated, felt like we'd stepped back in time. Hosts were brilliant, even came to collect us when we got lost due to transport difficulties. Couldn't recommend highly enough would definitely return

Amazing space, lovingly decorated. Comfortable bed, quick response to one issue we experienced- all sorted out in record time.
Bath was disappointing/ trickle of water and hot water ran out before there was 3 inches in the tub.

Big apartment with character. It is as central as could be in Buxton.

Overall, I had a fantastic stay. This building has character and charm and still maintains most of it's original features. It was very clean and tidy and had all the facilities you would require for a short stay. It's located in the centre of Buxton so easy walking to the shops, Buxton Opera House, the Pavilion Gardens and train/bus station.
Some cosmetic repairs are required to the property but otherwise a fantastic place.

Parking so close is a real bonus. Well placed apartment close to all amenities. Great views. Such a spacious and comfortable place. Wonderfully warm too. Biggest bathroom ever.
Nothing to mention. Will definitely be coming back.

The location was very central and the main living roms were bright and airy. Hosts were very responsive to messages.
Having 2 busy pedestrian crossings right outside the main living rooms meant constant interruptions from the 'beeping' signal used to tell people it was safe to cross. Thankfully this tailed off at night but was annoying during the day. The kitchen was small and not really suitable for self-catering (not an issue for us). The main problem was the bathroom which had mould on the wall and ceiling above the shower. This contrbuted a musty smell and can not have been healthy. The shower itself worked fine but there was no soap dish. The light shade in the bathroom also needed cleaning out. The bedroom windows were very dirty on the outside so it was difficult to tell what the weather was doing from there. The parking arrangement (on the pavement) was strange but seemed OK until our car was left with a rear bumper scratch/dent on the last morning - presumably from a street cleaner. Not great. Curtains were also difficult to close.

Excellent location, plenty of space , definitely a character apartment, felt as if I’d gone back in time & would most definitely stay again.
Although a lot of charm , could do with a little sprucing, but this is overall a large building & requires a lot of upkeep which doesn’t come cheap.

Plenty room, spotlessly clean.
Blinds on front door broken, bed very uncomfortable.

The sheer size of the apartment was impressive and its furnishings were redolent of Victorian era visits to Buxton to "take the waters". The views from the huge windows, which actually opened, added to that feel.
Only that the WiFi passwords were complicated and neither worked. I know we could have got back to our host on that but we settled for mobile signal.

Lovely big rooms; central location, only a few minutes walk from the Buxton International Festival venues; instant hot water and a lovely shower; fully equipped kitchen; all necessary shops and restaurants nearby.
Poor lighting in the bathroom.

The apartment was dusty.

Host lovely and was there to let us in even though we arrived late..Excellent location in the middle of town. Worked from the property and had no issues with Wifi for 2 of us on teams calls etc... download 10-12 , upload 3-4 MB. Huge 1 bed property. Lots of restaurants nearby. Property is a BIG 1 bed. rooms are 5x5m and 10x5 living dining. Very spacious and light. Parking right in front of building.
Did suffer from noisy bed and beeping from pedestrian crossing across the road. It is in the middle of town on the main road so you will get traffic noise but it wasn't too bad. Kitchen small but functional. Small portable oven but it was good enough for Pizza :-)
TV is very small

So much room . Very nicely furnished and in keeping with style of property .
Nothing I didn't like. A larger TV could be a suggestion as room was so large it could take a much bigger screen and give a wow factor

Roomy, excellent location
Electrical issues are a fire / safety hazard, furniture is not fire safety approved. Be warned. Owners were ambivalent re issues. Appartment access security requires urgent attention

The location of the apartment is excellent - right in the middle of Buxton and convenient to get to the Opera House and all local amenities. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable and our host was friendly and knowledgable. An added bonus was that we could park directly outside the apartment. We would certainly think of staying there again and would recommend it to others

Amazing space and period features.
Location is excellent and free parking
A small amount of time and investment could make this property exceptional. It’s in need of a little love and definitely needs an iron and ironing board !

Very central location. Good to be able to park right outside the door.. Wifi was good. The apartment is equiped with lots of antique type furniture and fittings
The kitchen was very dark. Needed better lighting. The kitchen was quite basic. Good for breakfasts but hard to cook an evening meal.

Location right in the centre short walk to all facilities.
One issue would be lack of heating in the bathroom, not an issue when weather warmer but during winter months not comfortable. Better lighting in the bathroom.

Lovely location, so convenient for Opera House and all that Buxton has to offer.
Lovely furnishings.
There didn't appear to be any heating in the bathroom and the lighting was poor, so no shower for me sadly.

Very spacious and warm. The decor was cool and interesting. The bed was really comfy. We had a cracking night sleep. Bathroom was ace. Enjoyed a lovely luxury bubble bath. Location perfect.
Nothing to dislike. Very simple kitchen set up but it is listed as a kitchenette so that's not a grumble.

Huge apartment in an excellent location.
Matress was comfy and it was nice and warm even in mid winter. Plenty of storage space for clothes.
Bath is great - water could be deep enough to cover all of me! Separate shower also good.
Parking is directly outside the apartment building.
WiFi was good.
Apartment is right next to two crossings, which were beeping almost constantly during the day. Double bed is small (I am 5'5" and feet touched the footboard). Kitchen only has a tiny oven on the counter top and a couple of hot plates. No freezer compartment in the fridge, which was so cold that it froze some of my fresh food.
TV is not connected to a proper aerial so signal was patchy.
Sofas, while large, were old and saggy, but comfy once you were 'in' them.

Super huge apartment, excellent parking, excellent position right in the heart of Buxton, plenty places to eat /drink close by.
It’s definitely a working progress and will be amazing when fully completed. Recent temporary ceiling repair in bathroom, and very poor lighting in there wasn’t expected. No where to plug in hairdryer etc to dry hair by a mirror, an extension plug would have helped.

The style
The entrance really needs updating, some of the decor was poor
The toilet was very dated and broken window
The kitchen facilities need updating
Smelt damp throughout
10.0 / 10.0
Very Spacious, and very well situated in the town, near to everything.
The kitchen and toilet could do with upgrading and were a bit chilly , and the tv could do with having a proper aerial fitted to the roof instead of the portable aerial.
