Mere Brook House

I liked - the friendliness of other residents, staff & owner the cleanliness of my room & communal areas the openness & ease of access of the property the facilities; fully kitted kitchen, buffet and dining areas the accommodating of my dog

The owner very kindly let us check in a little early. The room was spacious and comfortable, tea and coffee provided, very good self-service breakfast.

Nothing really.

Mere Brook House is quiet and comfortable. The room was clean and tidy, but the door squeaked so a little oil was required. As with older properties the plumbing was a little noisy from the room next door but it didn’t cause too many disturbances. It would have been good to have better lighting in the room too. The open kitchen was a lovely touch and the breakfast was perfectly satisfactory. All in all a pleasant stay and Lawrence was a good host.

Room and bathroom all very clean, bright, lovely crisp, cotton linen used. Self service continental breakfast was excellent. Great choice of food including lovely fresh berries. Lounge area comfortable, and manager kindly let us remain in lounge area past checkout t8me as we were attending a funeral later in the day.

The mattress, whilst comfortable had a severe slope towards to head end which was not ideal, and there was a large amount of damp and mould, to which I am allergic along the top of the window over the dressing table. There was also no hairdryer provided in the room, and no colour tv in the bathroom as was advertised. The tv was not a problem for me but the description should be changed. The bathroom itself was also different to the photos on the website. There is now a separate shower and slipper bath rather than a long bath with shower over.
