We didn't have breakfast so know review on this. Room spotless and comfortable. Hotel is in great location. They were a bit pushy one night during to stay in to us getting food, we were asked 4 times within a short period of time, we hadn't asked for food we am had just gone for a drink in reception area.

With a central location near the bus station, the Holiday Inn in Derby serves as an ideal overnight stay, conveniently located in the city centre and easily accessible by bus. Whilst it was being renovated around the stairwell, the services and room were modern, fresh, and very inviting after a morning's travelling to Derby. The location of the bathroom and its amenities is always a learning curve; it functions well and remains efficient for bathing and other hygienic purposes. The staff were friendly and supportive, even if you were uncertain about something, they remained eager to help. It was cheeky to offer a cheaper discount on breakfast the day before you plan to have it. There weren't any significant issues during my stay.

My room (214) was a really lovely room and it was very clean, comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was super too. However, there were some things other than the room that niggled me. The double doors between sections of the second floor often banged even when you were trying to pass through them quietly. This is just annoying (and noisy!) for all concerned. I had dinner in the hotel restaurant on the Saturday evening and it was absolutely fine but I did feel that the two guys running the show (one on the bar, one on the floor) were stretched a little thin. Maybe it was a one-off, but resourcing this properly should be looked at. And finally, I went to the Reception desk on the 4th floor after breakfast to enquire about the car park discount and to say I was packing up my things and will be leaving shortly. She said not to worry about bringing my card back up and told me to leave it in my room. She checked if I owed anything and think she must have checked me out as I was locked out of my room when I went back downstairs to finish packing. I had to go back up to the 4th floor and get it sorted. Also, the promised £8 discount wasn't applied to my car park charges when I was exiting the basement car park (Derbion) despite me adding my registration number to the system on Reception. Things like this are so basic, and SO easy to get right!

Hotel was clean and tidy, and quiet. With no parking or advertising of where to park it’s quite awkward to unload a car or get your belongings to the hotel as it’s a good 5 minute walk through a shopping centre. On entering location of the reception is on 4th floors but needs to be advised more clearly at the entrance. Due to building work there entrance isn’t the most enticing currently. We were not made aware of any building work being undertaken. The bed was not the most comfortable as we sunk into the middle, but the room was clean and warm and what was needed for an overnight stay.

We had a mostly positive experience at the Holiday Inn Derby Riverlights. Check-in was smooth, and the staff were genuinely lovely—friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean and comfortable overall, though the bathrooms could use a little attention, particularly the grout, which appeared brown or dirty in places. Unfortunately, one of our rooms had an issue with the air conditioning. We had chosen the hotel in part because it advertised AC, but despite contacting the front desk, we were told it was motion activated. It never turned on and during the night, and we woke up hot and uncomfortable. Meanwhile, the other room we booked had perfectly functioning AC from the beginning. We would have appreciated more urgency or support in resolving the issue at the time. Overall, the hotel has potential for a great stay with a bit more attention to maintenance and responsiveness.

I chose this property as it was directly on top of the bus station (we were going to see Black Sabbath in Birmingham, had coach tickets from Derby to Villa Park, and the pick up point was Derby bus station). There was no parking on site, but the secure parking on Bold Lane is between a 5 and 10 minute walk from the hotel. I can't fault anything about the hotel - it was clean, the room was a good size, all the usual things were provided - towels, shower gel, shampoo, tea and coffee. There was a fridge in our room (don't know whether this is standard in all the rooms). All the staff that we had any dealings with - reception, bar staff, cleaners, dining room - without exception were brilliant. Friendly and helpful, you felt nothing was too much trouble. Special shout out to Bethany, the (for want of a better description) Maitre d' - when we went for breakfast, she said if we wanted anything, such as pancakes, that wasn't on the breakfast buffet, to just ask. She also came round topping up your fruit juice when she wasn't greeting customers. The breakfast choice was excellent - there was a healthy option section, a hot buffet section, and a section with tea, coffee, cereal and fruit juices. I can't really comment on the area around the property, as we didn't arrive until about 9pm on the Friday night, we were up and out of the hotel for 8.30am on the Saturday morning, back there at 1am Sunday morning and left to go home at 10.30am on Sunday.

Lovely hotel. Would love to use it again when we visit family in Derby but my husband is disabled and a blue badge holder. The description parking available at £8 a day implies the park is on site in fact it was in the basement of the shopping centre opposite with either a very long walk around or several flights of steps as lifts were not working. If you are able bodied it is a fantastic hotel. If you are struggling with mobility and heart condition not the best choice if you are driving.

The hotel was in a convenient place as close to everything we required during the weekend. We didn't use its facilities as ate and drank out in Derby. However the bed in the hotel was awful. Second time staying at this hotel. Reception is still temporarily up on the 4th floor, accessible by lift. Very convenient city centre location. We were overlooking the bus station this time and could hear the busses with the window and curtains closed if you listened very carefully. The room we were in has recently been upgraded, but the new TVs are temperamental. They will cut out and drop the picture then state 'no signal' to which you have to turn over to a different channel and back again. We had this during our first visit to the hotel in a different room too - very annoying. Also, the shower doors leak badly, the seal in both rooms floods the floor badly. Reception staff have all been super friendly. They don't seem to serve soft drinks in pint sized glasses, just 'large' glasses which are smaller than pint glasses. Lovely finishing touches in rooms, for both stays. Christmas card at Christmas time and Valentines card in February. Will be returning here again.

Lovely Hotel, Great room, clean and tidy. Everything was good except Breakfast which was awful. Nothing left and had to wait for something to appear all at different times. So had half breakfast warm and to go back for the other half later. Fruit juices run out, coffee machine broke, no sugar. It just went from bad to worse. The room was standard but ok. The heating was off and was freezing and took a long time to warm up. The hotel was very loud and guest shouting up the corriders at night. The reason we booked here was because breakfast was included. We were informed that all the ovens were broken and there was only cereal and bread and we got rushed out of the restaurant soon after.
