We had an excellent stay at this hotel and enjoyed every moment.
The location is perfect—right in the historic center, surrounded by many restaurants and bars, and just a short walk from all the main sites. It’s also very close to a public parking lot, which had charging stations for our rental electric car.
The hotel is run by a wonderful, kind, and welcoming hostess.
The building itself is beautifully designed, with a unique and charming style.
Our room was spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast—served at the table—was varied, delicious, and presented with great care in lovely dishes. Everything was fresh, tasty, and meticulously prepared.
If I’m ever in the area again, I will definitely return.

A traditional French guesthouse, beautifully decorated by owners with a great appreciation for art. Lovely room, comfy bed and great bathroom. Breakfast was a range of local products served "a table" which made a nice change from buffets or cafes.
To note: when the payment comes up on your card bill it is recorded under a different business name - bit of a panic!

The people were very friendly and accommodating, and we really enjoyed staying the first time we booked, so we booked a second night for my husband to return. The manager was really helpful about getting us a taxi and we appreciated her approachability and kindness. I asked for a room on a lower floor due to my husband's physical challenges, and they accommodated this request very nicely. That was all excellent! No complaints whatsoever.
A few things were a bit odd. We arrived from the train station just after 12:00 and were not able to access the hotel until 2:00 PM because it was likely a lunch break for the staff. The staff must be very small if they cannot leave at least one individual at the desk to deal with people who arrive in that 2 hour window. We had to sit with all of our bags in a nearby park, which was very inconvenient. My husband went out in the evening and returned about 20 minutes before the 'closing' time, but was not able to get in. Luckily someone came out and let him in. The breakfast is set and you can't take what you want. I am a vegetarian. For 12 euros, I got a VERY small portion of fruit and yogurt, but 2 croissants. No choice about what to eat. Not at all good value for the money. Also, on the morning that I checked out, I asked if I could store my bags until my pick up at 4:00. I was told no - the hotel was going to be closed that evening. This was on a Saturday! I am still very puzzled by this, but it caused great inconvenience, as the train station has no baggage storage and I had to walk a long way with exceptionally heavy bags in order to find somewhere that I could pay to store them for just a few hours. These inconveniences need to be cleared up, then the hotel will deserve a much higher rating!

Excellent location, quiet street yet close to restaurants and shopping at either end of the street . Quaint old building, very charming.
Room and attached bath were on the small side, but there were larger rooms offered at the hotel for more money so we got what we paid for

Hotel Le Colbert is a small privately run hotel with bags of charm in the way that hotels used to be. Definitely retro with no lift and old style room keys, the hotel is excellently located between the Centre Gare and the city centre, in a traffic-free side street. It is an easy walk from the station, even with a case. The room was spacious and had room for a large bed, writing desk, two chairs and a low table.
The hotel has been nicely decorated with plenty of interesting art. The owner speaks excellent English.
Because the hotel is run by Le Patron and his wife, the reception times are limited and you need to time your arrival accordingly.

The hotel is nicely finished. The bathrooms have Kleenex and the trash bin is attached to the wall at an appropriate height. These small things make all the difference in the ease of our stay.
Lovely breakfast in a pretty breakfast room.

The building and decor were interesting with a central staircase and many pictures. My room was large. It was a good location in tbe historic town
The reception was not manned or the staff were at the back. I did not feel welcome at this hotel. I would have liked a kettle in the room, and as the terrace and lounge were often locked there was often no way to have a hot drink. The breakfast was poor with packaged items and was not worth 12 Euros. The lady owner said they had very recently bought the hotel and would be putting in kettles and a buffet breakfast.

The breakfast room was decorated in a style complimentary to the region. Lovely colours, nice size of room, good selection on breakfast plate.
Our room was small but had a nice big window, comfortable bed and very good shower.
Very accommodating for storing suitcases and bicycles. We will stay there again.
Fewer stairs - lol

Great location, only two blocks from the TGV Centre station. Comfortable bed and nice linens. Air conditioning worked! Patrice the host was welcoming and helpful. ( Enjoyed his little dog too!) We also stayed for breakfast and Patrice warmed the croissant, made coffee and served yogurt, cheese and orange juice.
Framed artwork on the walls should be replaced with something more attractive IMO. And be prepared to carry your bags up/down the small spiral staircase; no lift. Had difficulty connecting to the WiFi system.

Very cute hotel, on a quiet street, close to everything, The owner Patrice was very helpful and accommodating. I would recommend it wholeheartedly.
No bug screens in the window

being able to walk within the walled city directly from the hotel.
1) The hotel would not turn on its A/C because it was "too early in the season." I could open my window but it only helped so much and it meant having to suffer street lights. 2) Breakfast was packaged.

The central and quiet location was great.
Very friendly owner and dog.
The captive wifi requires logging back in every time you left the building.

We read the reviews before booking and were not disappointed. The hotel is in a great location and we found it to be a really interesting and unique hotel. I think each room has a different theme and we loved the patio and breakfast lounge. Clyde the manager was very friendly and helpful and his sweet dog Bonnie was there to welcome us too.

The owner was wonderful, caring, kind and helpful. The location was great and the hotel spotless. There is a launderette on the corner and everything in walking distance. Plus his dog Bonnie is a chipper little hostess.

The location was perfect; in the historic center, close to everything, but on a quiet street only for pedestrians. Our room on the 2nd floor had everything we needed. Two big windows, comfortable chairs to relax in, a comfortable bed, plenty of shelves and hanging hooks and a closet, especially since we stayed for three nights. The art hanging throughout was delightful! The breakfast dining area is very inviting and comfortable. We loved the colors! Although we didn’t use the outdoor courtyard, it was charming. The proprietor, Patrice, was excellent! Very helpful, every step of the way! We would stay here again, next time we go to Avignon. We loved Avignon and Hotel Le Colbert!
The only suggestion I have is to consider a slight change in the breakfast presentation. The croissant and bread were excellent but it would have been nicer if the other selections were presented without being in wrappers. Sliced cheese and yogurt in a bowl and perhaps?

Quirky hotel with lots of character. Good central location close to restaurants and the central train station. Lovely friendly owner and his sweet little dog Bonnie.
8.0 / 10.0
The owners are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great quiet location close to the rail station and just around the corner from an inviting square with numerous restaurants (also a laverie). Rooms are comfortable and clean.
Hot water took a long time to arrive on the third floor, up to four minutes of cool water flowing. Seems a waste of water in dry conditions.

Very happy with the coffee made to my specifications. Double espresso, with hot milk on the side.
Shame to have no access to a kettle, to make a hot drink. But there wasn't really space in the room.

Location is fabulous. Very convenient for all attractions, lovely medieval street.
Room is a bit basic but functional and convenient.
The underground communal parking is very close, but expensive - be prepared to pay 25 Eur per 24 hrs extra on top of the room. The breakfast room patio is lovely - but only available morning and day time. After 7 pm you only have the room access.
The owners are helpful, and given us good local advice.

Great location, good breakfast, very helpful host. Good place to stay, close to all ameneties and attractions. Only tiny problem was very steep circular stairs to rooms on top floor, but if you can manange these, all is well.

The beautiful hotel is in the historic section of Avignon. Although we had to climb many stairs to get to our room, we had expected that. The room was cozy and the view from our window was fantastic. Our host was charming and knowledgable about the town and restaurants.
