Perfect hotel in town. Easy parking in the back of the hotel. Very friendly, clean beautiful rooms. Very good breakfast included with our rooms. Waking distance to everything in town. One of my favorite places to visit as i grew up spending my summers near that area as a child. Will always return as long as i can. Beautiful area for hiking as well.

The hotel was nice and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. There is no air-conditioning and the weather was hot, so the room was uncomfortable. The second day we asked forva fan, and they brought us a small one that was partially broken, butbit did help. The location was fine, on a main square, close to the restaurants, but a 8-10 minute walk to the teain station, our primary transportation. They had a wonderful breakfast available, and the restaurant was quite good for dinner as well.

Been to Switzerland years ago and not too many little towns left. Cute area. The room was small (it is an old place). The traditionally swiss hotel. The bathroom was done over. Clean. Was just there 1 night, so was ok. Beds were hard and pillows flat. Had nice room though overlooking the front. Was quiet. Grounds are cute. You can eat outside in front or around the side. Restaurant downstairs was good. People were nice that worked there. We were off season, so not too many people in town. Not much to see. Few shops around. Walked everywhere. Good hiking. Everything closes early like most places in Switzerland.

What a quaint, adorable hotel in the village of Appenzell!! We couldn't be happier! The hotel is right in the heart of town. It has an old feel to it, but the bathroom and everything is nicely updated. We had free breakfast with ours, which was much more than what I expected--nice spread of meats, appenzeller cheeses, granolas, breads, etc. They also have a restaurant with exceptional foods. We loved everything about our stay and will recommend it to everyone!!

The staff is so friendly and helpful. Especially the front dest. Never found a more helpful person. The breakfast was great. Normal for european hotels. the location was right is the middle of town next to all the shops and restaurants. Only short walk to the train station. Parking is in abundance all around the hotel. The room the clean and comfortable. The bath is very nice. My only comment is that is needs better pillows.

We stayed in 5 hotels in Switzerland during our visit ranging from 2-4.5 star, and this was our least favorite property. The pillows were barely pillows. No safe in the room. Also, the room description on Hotels.com is misleading/inaccurate. There is no minibar, no 42" TV, and no refrigerator in the room. (There is a refrigerator outside of the room where you can buy drinks, but not in the room.) But, the restaurant was very good and so was the breakfast. So that's something.

Our room had a beautiful view of the town square and the hills behind. Shopping and site seeing is all a very close walk away. Parking was very accessible and included with the hotel (a rarity in Switzerland). Spacious room with space to sit and look out the windows.

It was during Fasnacht. They automatically upgraded my room so I could have something quieter during the festivities. This is how they value their customers. The restaurant was wonderful with a good, hot breakfast. The staff were fun to get to know. Lovely people. There is a reason this hotel and restaurant are lauded in the Rick Steves guide. I will return! Thank you!!

Loved this place and the staff were fantastic. Couldn’t do enough for us. Met the owner and he was so abliging. If anyone wants to get off the beaten track, Appenzell is the place to go. Surrounding farmlands were stunning.

Excellent hotel with great restaurant. Good and competent service. Rooms are a little small but okay for a business trip (had a single room). Private parking for cars. St. Gallen is a short trip down the hill. Appenzell is a charming little town very much preserved in its original state.
