It was a wonderful place with a outstanding staff.

The breakfast was really good and the staff made sure we enjoyed it.

Everything was great. The only problem I had is when I first arrived and walked into the hotel it was hard to determine where I was supposed to go to check in. I opened one door and I was in the restaurant kitchen. Finally I found the main restaurant door and was able to check in there.

Relaxing stay in the Appenzell countryside

The hotel and owners were lovely and very welcoming. It is in a quiet village where you can enjoy the countryside and stay away from the very touristy parts nearby, but can still go see them very easily (less than 10 mins away from all the popular hikes, and you get a great view of the mountains as you drive towards them). The dinner menu is great and the breakfast is filling with lots of variety. It gave us a chance to try the different sorts of local cheese!

Wonderful host, comfortable/clean room and great food

We loved the location being just outside of Appenzell. Beautiful setting. Accommodations were very clean and comfortable. Our host was very nice and helpful. There was plenty of free, close parking. We appreciated the wonderful breakfast that was included. And, we stayed in for dinner at the restaurant one evening and it was equally delicious. We had a terrific stay and would highly recommend!

Our room was on the street side of the building and because of the heat we kept the windows open during the evening. This resulted in us hearing some road noise at night and the church bells that rang each morning at 6am. While we found it charming, the church bells are loud and very close.

A very hard place to leave

This is an amazing inn with a superb host, excellent facilities, incredible food (definitely book dinner here!). It is a very hard place to leave. Everything about this inn is great!

In the evening the smell from the neighbouring cow farms gets quite strong but they are a natural part of the stunning countryside of rolling green hills (and that’s what you’ve come for, right) so just close windows or go inside and you can get a break from it if it bothers you. It’s the same at any hotel in this region because you’re in cow country.

Very noisy church bells. (But switched off between 22:00 and 06:00). No restaurant available Mondays and Tuesdays, and trouble finding anything open on those days.

Great guesthouse in a great place!

A very well maintained cozy place with excellent food at the restaurant! Great location - close by all the landmarks, and at the same time a bit away from the crowded areas, which guarantees you calm nights. All the facilities are in a great shape, personnel is super welcoming and as mentioned above the food is really nice. Breakfast is simple, but has all the ingredients to get charged for the day. i would like to thank the whole team for our fantastic stay!

Ein Glückstreffer für den Jahreswechsel

Am Rand eines kleinen Dorfs in der Nähe von Appenzell, sehr ruhig und ein schöner Ausgangspunkt für Erkundungen in der Region. Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und bedient. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet, dass neben dem Silvestermenü auch noch à la carte möglich war, sei eigens hervorgehoben. Sehr empfehlenswert!

Das Frühstück war qualitativ erstklassig und es hat an nichts gefehlt und der Kaffee war auch excellent! Und auch der Service, oft auch die Chefin, waren sehr zuvorkommend und behilflich bei Fragen

Der Aufgang in das Zimmer war tlw. recht niedrig, aber das liegt an meiner Körpergröße von 1,93 m, so musste ich in einigen Passagen meinen Kopf einziehen.

Ausnahmslos die beste, aufmerksamste Betreuung durch die Eigentümer und auch dem Personal. Perfektes vielfältiges, ausgezeichnetes Frühstücksbuffett, speziell einheimische Produkte. Ruhige Lage.

Je nach Windrichtung zeitweise leicht störende landwirtschaftliche Gerüche von ca. 300 Meter entfernter Farm.
