Superb village guesthouse, charming in every way

Beautiful comfortable and spacious room, furnished in traditional Appenzell style. Quiet location, nice view and extremely helpful and friendly host. Very good breakfast, with fresh home-made items on a buffet and eggs etc made to order.

Nothing really, everything was great. You need to be aware it's a 15 minute walk into the village for evening meals - or a drive. But it's a pleasant walk anyway.

In middle of farm land about 1 hour drive outside big Zurich.

I loved the old traditional flavor Appenzell atmosphere of my room, but if you’re taller than 5’10” be sure to tell the booking agent or you will hit your head on the ceiling!

This place is managed by the cutest couple, very welcoming and warm. The area is quite, green and so very peaceful. The room was amazing and clean and we loved the breakfast there, with great fresh fruits and patisery.

Amazing surroundings, sparkling clean. We had a good breakfast and the hosts are awesome persons. Would definitely come back if we get in the area again.

We stayed on the first floor and there was some noise from the upper one. Also, the rooms at the first floor has very low ceiling and might be a thing to consider if you are over 185cm.

Comfortable boutique hotel 10 km from Appenzell

The Willi family were welcoming and gracious, and advised us helpfully on the best ways to enjoy Appenzell and environs. They also provided Oscar cards which permit free travel by bus, train and cable-car in the region. Our suite was decorated in beautiful Appenzeller style, with wood panelling and fitted furniture, and was large and comfortable. Breakfast was generous -- hot and cold items, juice, fruit. cereals, breads and coffee/tea.

Minor detail - there were no electric outlets near the seating area in the suite, so nowhere to plug in a computer or phone.
