Excellence

Location are in small town. Close to all you need supermarket and some cloth shop. The owner Scottish Lady very friendly look after us so well. The breakfast are so many choice egg were freshly cooked.

Lovely traditional hotel which provided an excellent position for short break.

Lovely traditional hotel, which had comfy beds and lovely quiet rooms. We had dinner one night which was excellent, and the breakfast each morning was delicious and set us up for the day. Special mention to all the staff who were very welcoming and friendly. Excellent position right in the middle of town, which allowed for a lovely walk after dinner.

We were provided with a room upgrade upon arrival. The room was spacious and well-appointed. The facilities were beautiful and the breakfast was delicious. Staff were helpful with information regarding activities in the area.

We loved everything about this lovely hotel! Very convenient location, nice staff, and excellent food. Breakfast buffet is amazing! Our room was spacious and we loved opening the windows to look out onto the village square. Seeing the herd parade at 6 am was super fun and a great send off to our 3 week stay in Switzerland.

This was a charming, accommodating hotel to stay at, with a delicious continental breakfast, and helpful staff.

It was well located, near the train station. It was very clean, and the staff were attentive. The best part of the entire stay was the free continental breakfast. Delicious coffee, pastries, yogurt, juice and omelettes.

There was high humidity when we were there, so the room was hot and uncomfortable.

Staff was incredibly nice and so patient with all our requests. Rooms looked better than they did online. Accommodations were calm, quiet, clean and very lovely. And the breakfast was delicious. Would absolutely stay again.

The location was wonderful as well as the property. very clean. The breakfast was really great. lots of choices and good food. The staff was wonderful.

The only complaint was our room was about the outside restaurant so the noise level from the restaurant customers was a bit much.

Jewel in the Appenzel

Everything from the decoration to the atmosphere, cozy homy feeling , good breakfast, attentive staff and specially Corinne, smiling and communicative ( not everyone speaks English)…owner / manager also always on the premises saluting guests. Excellent location to park the car ( with blue disk) right in front of the hotel. Rooms in the attic/third floor are charming and spacious, grand bathroom with ( oh! What a luxury!) walk-in shower. Ammenities ( liquid soap and body lotion ) amazingly good.

Nothing to do with the property - the eternal tolling of the church’s bell !!! Every 15 mns during the whole night… and special “symphony “ at 6 a.m You better get used to it in Switzerland ‘s small towns! Or don’t forget your earplugs if you wish to sleep the night thru without interruption…

Our stay at the Romantic Hotel was a perfect first experience in Appenzell. The staff was very friendly and responsive to our questions prior to and during our stay. We would absolutely recommend it and most definitely will return!

Excellent stay

The location of the hotel was great. Close proximity to the all hiking trails. The food at the restaurant was excellent and staffs were friendly and attentive. We loved the eggs menu on breakfast but found the sweet options limited. There is a sauna in the hotel too but no parking. You would need to pay for CHF8 per day parking nearby.

There was no free water in the room nor options to make coffee/tea. Pillows were a little too soft too.. had to request extra pillows.
