Convalescence facility, not a high end hotel

Facilities and location are nice. Staff was friendly.

This felt like a nice nursing home. So many people (seriously 75%)here were elderly and/or in need of mobility devices (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches etc). This really impacted the vibe of the hotel and made this feel like a convalescence facility, not a hotel.

Perhaps a few more signs in English or French (but that is true of Appenzell in general which is quite wonderful)

Haven for tranquility seekers, hikers, and swiss nature lovers

All hotel signages and printouts are exclusively in German, giving the impression that the hotel is mainly welcoming German- speaking guests. I strongly suggest including English as a second language. Coffee machine is not in the room but on each floor working only 5 AM to 9 AM which quite restrictive. No minibar in the room.

I like everything there, comfortable room, free water at any time, free tee, fresh mint with tee, herbal guarden, food, kindness of staff, everything. Will be back again. :)

A disappointing stay

Food in the restaurant and service was not good and for this kind of category disappointing. Entrecote looked like a sausage and was very hard - could not eat it but they did not offer a replacement. The german waiter was not very friendly but some members of the service were ok.

A spa hotel that exceeded our expectations which had been already high before.

A beautifully located hotel. The staff was all very helpful and extremely nice. Breakfast, as well as dinner, were delicious. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Very comfortable parking lot beneath the hotel with an elevator from there to all floors. Not a cheap hotel but relative to prices in Switzerland very high value for money.

If I have to pick one thing so the interior design was a bit too modern with colors that do not fit the ambiance of the hotel and its surroundings. Nothing significant and surely I'll be very glad to stay there again.

Perfect stay in great location

This property is amazing, I didn't expect such a big hotel and the one of this quality. Everything is great and really thought out. Great breakfast, great sauna, great restaurant (if the chef works up mains a bit, I really see Michelin star for them in the future, the starters are already there, btw). Great bar with live music. Tea and water and fruits are available 24 h on every floor. Honestly, everything was perfect.

20 h closure time for the pool and the sauna is too short when you are hiking, even in winter. 22 h would be much, much better :) But that's only criticism I can find :)

A lovely relaxing stay.

Lovely break away for the weekend. The facilities are great, lots of Wellness activities and a good range of treatments. Rooms were very comfortable and the bar and restaurant was excellent. Very good overall.

Eintauchen ins Appenzell

Gutes Frühstück und sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter. Brauchtum der Gegend wird im Konzept mit einbezogen und super umgesetzt. Eine wunderbare Deko- und Floristik erfreuten die Augen. Neue Sauna-Landschaft sehr ansprechend (die Liegen sind für meinen Rücken zu hart). Die Nähe zum Bahnhof und die einfache Erreichbarkeit von Appenzell-Stadt (Weihnachtsmarkt) war super. Der medizinische Masseur hat mir eine andere Theorie zu meinen Gebrechen aufgezeigt. Vielleicht wird es ein Game-changer?

Unser Zimmer befand sich gerade unter der Küche. Somit war es am Abend sowie schon früh am Morgen etwas laut. Die Ausssicht war auf ein anderes Dach oder Parkplatz.

Sehr schöner Ort, um auszuruhen und aufzutanken.

Der SPA mit dem klug designeten Sauna-Turm. Es war eine Wohltat, sich im hellen Holz und den grossen Saunaräumen aufzuhalten und nachher mit Aussicht auf Fluss und Herbstwald in einem Hängesessel zu schaukeln. Das ganze Hotel drückt eine unauffällige Aufmerksamkeit aus, dichte Erfahrung im Unterstützen von Entspannung und Gesundheit und ich fühle mich jetzt nach dem Aufenthalt dort ausgeruht und zuversichtlich.

….ich verstehe, dass keine Köchin/Koch dazu gezwungen werden sollte, sich für vegetarisches oder gar veganes Essen zu interessieren und es auf interessante,frische Art umzusetzen aber das vegane/vegetarische Menu hat -besonders beim Nachtessen- nur wenig Aufmerksamkeit/ Kreativität erhalten und nun ja: es schmeckte mir nicht.

Gastronomie et wellness au fond de la vallée d'Appenzell, au calme dans la nature.

Hôtel situé au calme au fond d'une petite vallée, très bien intégré dans la nature. Infrastructures de Wellness modernes et performantes. Restauration de qualité avec une carte journalière courte mais de grande qualité. Excellent petit-déjeuner. Service attentionné, efficace et souriant.

Prix du restaurant relativement cher, mais acceptable pour qui apprécie la gastronomie. Le check-in mériterait une meilleure présentation des accès et prestations incluses dans dans la réservation (par exemple, nous ne savions pas que le badge fixé à la clé de notre chambre ouvrait l'espace welleness).

Empfehlenswertes Hotel für eine kurze oder lange Auszeit

Die Lage des Resorts, eingebettet in die malerische Landschaft der Appenzeller Hügel und Berge ist phänomenal. Sehr schönes Erholungszentrum. Thermalbad und Freibäder ganz speziell. Sehr feines, geschmackvolles Buffet. Die Restaurants lassen keine Wünsche offen.

Mit der Bedienung an der Bar hapert es manchmal.

Todos os comentários não chegam para descrever o Hotel. O pequeno-almoço foi muito completo. Acabei por jantar no hotel na última hora, colocaram-me em meia pensão. Achei um preço muito justo em relação à quantidade/ qualidade do menu. O quarto achei fantástico apesar de não ter varanda. Os jardins à volta do hotel são muito bem cuidados. Os refreshs em cada piso e na zona da piscina são muito bons, com fruta/agua/gelo/chá e na zona da piscina com sumos e snacks. As piscinas são deliciosas…o chuveiro antes de entrar é com água quente🤓 Foi uma estadia curta mas maravilhosa

Apesar dos funcionários serem muito simpáticos, para mim faltou a explicação do hotel, ou seja, no check in explicar se posso usar todas as piscinas, onde ficam, me explicar que há todos esses refreshs em cada andar e as actividades da noite como por exemplo nessa noite houve pianista. Outra coisa menos boa é a informação pratica estar só em alemão, como por exemplo, as atividades da semana
