A dream

It was like a fairytale. I wish I never left! I had the cute single blue room. Everything is about a 5 minute walk, even the train station. The breakfast was amazing too! Oh and the bed was like a cloud! Such a comfy cozy stay. I wish I was there longer!

A perfect location with helpful staff

Great location in Appenzell - walking distance to the train station, restaurants, shops, and the grocery store. The staff was extremely helpful with local transportation information and just making my stay enjoyable. Breakfast was delicious.

Comfortable stay and very nice staff who go above and beyond to help!

Breakfast was perfectly what we needed good food. Beds were comfy. Staff was very nice and go above and beyond to help their guests. They even mailed a package for us when we forgot something of importance! Very nice all around.

The only thing that could have made for a better stay - there is no AC (which this is standard for Switzerland) if you are traveling when the weather is hot you have to keep windows open and can be a little tricky if you are a light sleeper.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Löwen. All of the staff was very friendly and the breakfast was wonderful. We loved the location being close to the train station and in the heart of town. Would absolutely stay here again!

A gem in the heart of Appenzell!

This hotel is an absolute gem! We had a charming Appenzeller style room, with bed canopy and hand painted features, looking on to the cobblestoned pedestrian street and colourful buildings. Breakfast was excellent- a generous selection of local cheese and meat, freshly.baked breads and eggs. Highly recommend staying 3 nights, as you receive a card with free access to local cable cars and museums.

A small bar at hotel looks very cosy, but was not open during our stay in May - would've liked a drink in there

Lovely hotel

We enjoyed our 1 night stay, we had 2 rooms for our family of 4. The 2 rooms were near each other and were a decent size. The bathroom was small but adequate. The room had plenty of storage. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a good variety of pastries, cheeses, cereal, eggs, juice and coffee. We also appreciated being allowed to store our luggage pre check-in and after check out.

Brilliant place

Outstanding place, beautiful rooms, everything clean and organized, really great place to stay. And the city is also really charming, good food and people.

The couple's bed is actually two single beds togheter. But it's not a big deal, the great mattress makes you forget about it.

there was a change in properties the Lowen was closed for renos and I stayed at a sister property the Romantik Hotel Santis

it was cold, they addressed it quickly but it reverted back to being cool overnight

Very good Breakfast. Check in was fast and easy. The room does have no AC, so had to keep windows open, but town was fairly quiet after 10pm. We stayed late September so wasn't too bad.
