Great location to explore Appenzell

Located in the heart of the Appenzell. You can easily walk to all the main tourist attractions in town, such as the walking street, the beer factory, shops, and all the restaurants. The room is at a good size, very clean, and convenient. The staff are helpful.

The road in front of the hotel is tiny and is actually not for driving. So if you drive the car there, please study the road carefully.

The room was spacious and clean upon arrival The hotel provided a baby cot for 25 CHF Breakfast buffe was enjoyable The lady during breakfast on our first morning was fantastic

Upon check in a little bit of assistance with luaggage and pram would have been appreciated The gentleman at breakfast the second morning was not very friendly and the breakfast room (on the second morning only) was a mess. The same gentleman rang us early on our last morning to ask us to check out early (check out normally is 12pm) which I thought was a very bad surprise

Not about Hecht Hotel

We had the reservation for Hecht hotel, but we got lucky, and they moved us to their 4 star partner hotel ,Romantik hotel santis. The hotel was beautiful, cozy, clean and comfortable. A small corner was dedicated to toys for kids to play. My 5 y/o daughter enjoyed it very much. Breakfast had a lot of options and served in an impressive salon. Feel really good about it. Definitely recommend it.

Amazing place to stay. Allowed me to check in early which meant I could go hiking on my first day with ease! Helped with the Appenzell Travel Card. Such helpful staff, great recommendations for dinner in their sister hotel for traditional food. Excellent breakfast with really good gluten free options.

very comfortable stay

I was late in arriving and villagers gave me directions where to park. It was fairly easy. The hotel is right downtown close to the central parking lot. Since I was late arriving the proprietor left my key on the front desk for me. The building is a bit confusing at first because of the setup , but very nice and comfortable

Bad

We are in a pandemic, customers may have to cancel short term due to their health situation. In that case, insisting on the "no cancellation" clause, instead of lending hand to moving the stay to a later date (as, for instance, all airlines do), is absolutely in the hotel's right, but also absolutely bad customer service. I will for sure look elsewhere the next time my work brings me or one of my employees to the area.
