We’d definitely come back here again

This charming little apartment offers a fantastic base for exploring Utrecht in a truly special location. The host was very friendly too.

The nearby church bell tower’s noise and you can hear the sound of footsteps and vehicles when they walk/drive above you - that creates a strange yet amusing atmosphere.

Lovely accommodation, location and city

It's in a great location right next to a canal and the Dom Tower, in the middle of old Utrecht and within walking distance of the train station. Lots of lovely walks, museums, restaurants, cafes, bars and shops close by. The property has very good use of limited space. We had a good welcome from the owner who kindly allowed us to arrive later than the normal check-in due to our latish train from Rotterdam.

Hard to criticise really. Due to the nature of the property there are only windows at one end and because it's so central there was some noise at night, but mainly the bells in the nearby tower and nothing to disturb us.

Unique position and style of property. In the centre of bustling and vibrant Utrecht culture but tucked away in it’s own private and secluded canal side position. Ideal for quiet glass of chilled wine in the evening.

Short but pleasant stay!

Great location right on the canal—enjoyed sitting out and watching the ducks and geese The apartment was well appointed with good shower and kitchenette. The host, John, was very kind and helped us get to the apartment.

Be warned that the stairs down to the canal level are very steep—could be challenging if you have large luggage! Also know that you check in at the souvenir shop at the road level.

Utrecht is a lovely city and staying in Slapen onder de Dom made our stay to a unique experience!

A totally unique experience. The room is just by the canal, where you can sit and watch the boats and birds. The room is really well equipped with a really good bathroom/shower and good kitchenette. We spent time every afternoon/evening at our terrace, and even had a take away dinner there one evening. The host is fantastic and helped bring our super heavy bags for storage in his shop when we had a few hours to spend before leaving for the airport after checkout.

It was a little bit warm in the room during night, but there is a fan available so it still worked OK.

Canal side living, enjoying the scenery of passing boats in the center of Utrecht

Very authentic experience to stay in the remodelled old warehouse cellar, just beneath the center of Utrecht. Literally you stay on the canal shore, and the canal is just 3 meter away from the door. Bringing out the chairs and cafe table from the room, and just enjoying the lively canal traffic, you can sit and wave to the various canal cruises, canoes and smaller boats, slowly passing, makes you feel like a true local :-) TIP: Remember to buy a bottle(s) of wine and some snacks, and you are all set. Location wise, It doesn't get any more central than this. Get up the stairs and you are in the middle of Utrecht, offering great beer bars, Michelling rate restaurant, Art galleries, boutique coffee houses. (However, a note about the stairs leading to room. They are quite steep and small. Not recommended for elderly or walking disability.)

Great place to stay in Utrecht

We had a great time here. We loved being so close to everything and being right under some great restaurants and the Dom tower was amazing. The owner is the most lovely man. He goes above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need for your stay.He comes and brings more coffee for your in room machine and brings you fresh towels every day. We were also early for our check in and had a late flight at check out and he allowed us to keep our bags at his souvenir shop right above where we were staying. Having a patio on the canal was unlike any other place we have stayed. Everything was very clean and modern and I would most definitely recommend this to anyone travelling to Utrecht.

We liked everything ! it was a great surprise. The location, the decoration, sitting by the water, we were immediately very welcome and shown around the apartment. Highly recommended !

The host is an incredible help to a weary traveller no matter what unforeseen circumstances pop up. I absolutely recommend booking if you wish to visit lovely Utrecht for a short stay.
