Unexpected gem in Utrecht!

Wow! What a little jem in the heart of Utrecht! From entering the lobby I realised that Mother Goose was not just your usual hotel. Friendly, helpful staff, beautiful interior and thoughtful touches made me want to stay longer. Mother Goose will now always be my first choice when staying in Utrecht!❤️

Even an unfortunate experience with a blocked shower drain did not dampen our stay. Within minutes of reporting the problem a friendly staff member solved it.

Nice, friendly, good

Everything. From the outside it doesn’t look that big or great, but the room was so nice, comfy and clean. There is an elevator which is very handy, otherwise there are the very steep stairs. Arriving at mother goose was very nice, and that has everything to do with the fact that they addressed us in Dutch, very important for me. Not necessarily because we don’t speak or understand other languages but we were in the Netherlands where we speak Dutch. Breakfast could be taken in a befriended place if you want, also baskets with breakfast could be ordered tot the room.

We stayed in one of the front placed rooms and a tad too noisy. Having said that , the staff did propose a change of room. Had to use ear plugs to sleep

Cozy experience in the centre of Utrecht

Very nice room, with many little details that make the difference. Very good shower, coffee/tea facilities in the room, comfy bed.

They provide earplugs and for a reason...you can hear a lot from the other rooms, especially water running. It can be a downsize.

The place is nice, Staff were nice for most of them. Room is clean, looks nice.

Heater was not working which is not pleasant in cold days. Privacy in the room was not full, can be improved.

Bliss. A Wonderfully unique local property with buckets of charm and personality. Loved it

This Hotel is a gem. So quirky, cool and comfortable. I stayed here during the recent Snow Storm this week and had booked a beautiful Suite (103) with a stunning view over the snow covered square! The bed was so comfortable but the room had many very cool touches that I loved and the staff were very warm and friendly. If returning to Utrecht on business again, I would actively look to book this Hotel as my first choice

Fantastic

the location and room was absolutely stunning, loved it. The rest of the facilities were very basic. Staff was friendly though we did hear on the second day about the water bacteria after already drinking water from the tap.

Quirky, comfortable and central

We liked the room it was quirky and had lovely touches, it looked out at the Dom tower, lovely view very central staff were very friendly, check in was quick and easy. The only thing was the lift wasn't working the day we arrived and the stairs are very steep and narrow not ideal for everyone difficult to get to your room with suitcases, but lift was working next day so it was fine. Overall we had a lovely stay, bed was so comfy and room was spotless. No breakfast facilities in hotel but plenty of options around .

Beware of Mother Goose stories sometimes they paint a pretty picture but it’s not reality.

The location was great.

The room looked nothing like the online pictures. We were sent an email to choose our room but when we tried the link wouldn’t work and we were told it was because we used Booking.com. We were assigned a room on the top floor only reached after an elevator ride and a final steep stairs even though I was assured there was an elevator to the room. After a long day we were just glad to get to the room which was quite small and furnished with a beat up castoff metal folding table, one metal folding chair and metal stools that served as night stands. There was a tiny closet and no place to set suitcases or unpack. The whole room was painted black and gray and with only one window; it was dingy even with the lights on since they were insufficient. In fact just to turn the light on you had to insert a key, but you couldn’t see where to insert the key because you didn’t have a light. A final problem was that the duvet was too small and left our shoulders uncovered.

We had a good stay, as said: beautiful hotel and nice location. But the cleaning service was really bad and very sloppy.

Beautiful hotel, nice room, nice location, sweet staff.

The room was not clean: Toilet was forsure not cleaned after the last guests(rests in pot), stuff laying under the bed, floor not clean (were even stickers on from bought clothes from last guests). When we asked to make the room(cause we stayed 2 nights) the bed was super sloppy made, as if my small son had done it 🫤 the toilet was not cleaned, the towels were still on the floor and the bath mat was still laying the way we left it: wet and not tidied. Really dissapointed cause it was not cheap at all…

The room was beautiful, clean, spacious and the view of the bell tower was amazing. Great location. Staff were always welcoming and supportive. The air conditioner in the room also worked very well so it was never unpleasant despite the heat. The hotel was so lovely we decided to extend our stay.

It wasn't the most horrible stay, but just because it is a boutique hotel, doesn't mean it is good.

Getting to the property by foot from the train station takes you through Utrecht's city center, which is also where the hotel is located. You get to experience the city and the hotel is definitely well situated. I also liked the bed itself, which was very comfortable. The room also had its own Wi-Fi access point, making the Wi-Fi connection very stable.

The room wasn't cleaned properly. While the bed itself seemed clean, the plant in the room was dusty and there were chunks of dust and some leftover paper just under the side of the bed. The room and also the hallway were non-carpeted, meaning you hear everyone talking and walking outside of your room. I don't think the other guests were inconsiderate on purpose, but because there are zero objects to muffle the sound, every conversation got amplified. Lastly the shower drainage was broken, after two minutes of showering it took 3-4 minutes for the water to drain. During my first shower attempt I didn't notice this which resulted in a partial flooding outside of the shower. Interestingly enough the small carpet which was next to the bed and in front of the shower absorbed most of the water. The carpet seems to be used to this kind of treatment, because the part which is close to the shower has more washed out colors than the more distant part, leading me to believe that this is not the first time this has happened. The room was also situated above a bar/restaurant which means that it will be noisy at night. I found the patrons not to be too loud so that was less of a problem, but at some point in the night there were loud banging sounds coming from below which traveled through the walls of the building, rendering earplugs useless. Be aware of this.

Great personal touches

Staff are very welcoming and happy to help with any queries. Someone is always available. As soon as you walk in the hotel, it smells fantastic. My room was gorgeous and spacious with an amazing view of the Dom Tower. I slept soundly, thanks to the big comfortable bed and the ear plugs provided (location is very central and I faced the square, so there was a little noise). The room had everything I needed for a relaxing stay in Utrecht. My room was very clean and the shower was great. Also, a lovely personal note in my room when I arrived. I had a perfect stay at Mother Goose. I would recommend and definitely go back.

Beautiful hotel in the center of a drop-dead gorgeous city center—there was nothing I didn't like. The staff were super friendly, naturally. The room was massive, well-appointed, spotless, and comfortable. I slept well. It was all so affordable, too. I couldn't believe the value.

Tbh the only thing I didn't like is that they were booked the next day, so I couldn't extend. Also the staircase is something out of a Tim Burton movie: windy, steep, and utterly terrifying. Fortunately the elevator is right next to it.

The view over the bell tower was AMAZING! It was the vacation where we stayed in our room for lot of time because of the most beautiful view that we had from our bed… perfect to relax and read! And the bed was also very very comfortable!

Most excellent location. Right in the middle of Utrecht. We were so comfortable, with air conditioning, privacy, and a super stylish room setup. There is even a refrigerator in the lobby to store drinks. Well done!

Great hotel in an great location

The hotel was great, with stylish and comfortable rooms that had everything I needed during my stay. I booked 2 nights in different rooms and both were great, but the Suite with a view to the Dom tower was incredible! The staff was nice and friendly and very accommodating. The location is perfect, right next to the canal and with great shops and restaurants nearby. I would definitely come back and recommend to anyone coming to Utrecht and looking for a nice place to stay.

This was our favourite hotel in our 5 week holiday. Beautiful room with stunning view over square. Super comfortable bed with the most friendly staff. Lovely to chat to and really helpful. Great dining suggestions. Felt pampered. Loved Utrecht.

Very ice stay

We got upgraded and had a room with view on the town’s rooftops ; nice shower , bed , welcome booklet , coffee and tea setup . The location is in the town’s centre , shops and restaurants are nearby. We travel by bike and the receptionist showed us a place where we could leave our bikes in a safe parking location - free of charge for the first 24 hours .

Fantastic location and lovely hotel with lots of light and a great view

Location was amazing. It was Kings day weekend and the place was buzzing with life. Our room overlooked one of the main squares and the venue was full. We didn't have breakfast but the vegetarian option did look very good

Apart from the soft pillows (which I understand are personal preference) there was nothing else to fault our stay
