The location is good, that's all.
The poor condition of the accomodation, it was dirty and cold. The carpets are disgusting, kettle covered in dust, coffee tray at breakfast was filthy, walls and ceiling cobwebby. Checked in at 3pm (December) to find that the heating was on a timer and our room was cold, noone knew when the heating would come on - the host did get a small portable heater in the meantime.
Curtains and met curtain were undersize to the window leaving gaps.

Paddy was so friendly & helpful with advice on walks & places to go. The food, both breakfast & dinner, was really excellent, the breakfast sets you up perfectly for a day out walking. The room was comfortable with everything you need, & set in a beautifully quiet location. The pub had friendly staff & a good atmosphere, with locals drinking there, which is always a good sign. Gorgeous location, tucked away & quiet but easy to get to the surrounding areas.
The only thing that stopped me giving 10 stars was that the shower could be more powerful. But it was plenty hot, & certainly won't put me off going back again.

The location is great. There is a beautiful lake within 3 minutes drive and it’s beautiful to stop by and spent some time.
I am pretty happy for the price paid including breakfast.

A ‘proper’ pub filled with locals, walkers and dogs! Simple but very good menu.
Nothing. It was fun.

A wonderful location for walking the high moor link. Very quiet. The rooms were lovely, extremely comfortable and we even had a bath which was very welcome after a long hike.
The pub below is a very traditional country pub and the staff were so welcoming. We also thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts and dinner

Nothing really, just what we wanted.

The location of where we stayed was excellent and we enjoyed a great English breakfast! The customer service received was friendly, helpful and always accommodating if we needed to request for something. Thank you!
We were little disappointed of how small our room was and also the dinner menu was quite basic.

Beautiful location with walks nearby and a place to swim in the river 10-15 mins walk away, Nice staff and lovely breakfast including veggie option, Room had a lovely view.
They don't serve food Sunday evening, but had messaged to let me know that well in advance so all good.

Staff were very friendly, informative about the local area, and keen to be helpful and accommodating. The room was nice and quiet and bed comfortable. Breakfast was the perfect plateful of full English.
I couldn't make the TV show just normal TV but I didn't really have much time to use it so it didn't really matter.

We really enjoyed this overnight stay. Patrick was great and explained well. The meals were tasty and the walks delightful. Very old world and comfortable. We loved it.

A superb Inn, a comfortable room, good food and bar all at a reasonable price. Location is truly amazing, very quiet, most of the time the only sounds are from the grazing sheep, birds and cattle in the distance.
A great place for walking and to enjoy the scenery. Hexworthy had several mines, the remains can be seen on the nearby moor. There's a good network of well maintained paths.
The landlord is welcoming and helpful, the bar team friendly with a good local knowledge of the area and local farming community.
Perhaps add pies to the menu?

Great location, ideal if you're planning to visit different parts of Dartmoor
Paddy was really welcoming and helpful, and went out of his way to help us before we'd even arrived - there was a road closure near to the bnb and Google Maps was going to send us on a huge diversion, but we called Paddy and he was able to tell us which way to go to cut miles off our journey. Then when we checked in we were told we'd been moved from the budget room we'd booked to one of the ensuite rooms. All much appreciated!
The room was simple but cosy, with everything we needed, plenty of sockets for charging things, and the comfiest bed we've ever stayed in. It was really quiet overnight so we both had a great night's sleep
We had dinner and breakfast at the bnb and all the food was delicious
Nothing we didn't like about the bnb itself - the room could perhaps do with an extractor fan or better ventilation, but appreciate that's always going to be hard with an old building in the middle of Dartmoor!
Just worth noting for any nervous drivers, it's along a single track road so perhaps allow extra journey time - we're used to these sorts of roads and didn't have any problems but imagine it could be a bit daunting to anyone not used to rural driving

Paddy was very accommodating with our requests, especially for broccoli with dinner. The room was spacious and warm and very clean. Highly recommended.
Nothing. It was great.

Friendly staff and drinks in the room. Good Wi-Fi and tv. Breakfast good and being able to eat in the evening. Plenty of sockets. Parking close.
The room appeared not to have been hoovered and has used tissue by the chair. Noticed stairs not hoovered on way to room. No hanging facilities only 1 hanger on the curtain pole. It is an old building and we accept that and can see that it’s hard to maintain decor and when a bathroom has no window. They do their best but the bedding did not look fresh and clean. We had to sit on the bed as only 1 chair but tbh no room. We stayed for 2 nights it wasn’t where we thought it was ( not Yelverton ) which didn’t help where we needed to be Friday morning.

Great, great location. Utterly quiet at night, with no light pollution. High up in the moors with thoughts of the Hound of the Baskervilles for company. The single-track, steep road that leads to it is part of its charm. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, if you want the comfort of a BnB but in the middle of nowhere, this is for you. And within 10 minutes drive of Princetown, with all the local amenities. And the full English breakfast was very good!

An excellent cooked breakfast and plentiful tea and coffee. Very friendly staff, who were happy to store cheese we had bought in Cornwall in their fridge during our stay. Also a very tasty evening meal.

The breakfast was tasty and plentiful, as was dinner - I could choose whatever I wanted and nothing was too much trouble. I had no car and walked every day from the Inn so needed something to sustain me as lunch wasn't always available on my walk. My room was very comfortable with a lovely view over the fields and moors, and beautifully quiet. I booked the Budget room, but got an upgrade without asking! All staff were very professional and friendly and the overall feel was nice and relaxed. Just what I needed! I was given very helpful advice as to how to get back to catch my train home - Ashburton centre was closed for roadworks.
Can't think of anything.

Everything as it should be. Friendly staff. Excellent food.

The location! In the middle of Dartmoor but remote from main road.
The host was brilliant. I stayed for a week but was ready to leave after 2 nights due to the state of the room. After changing room, I agreed to stay as, at least, I could open the window then.
The sheets and towels were clean and the bed comfortable.
Furniture and surfaces in the room were clean.
The property is not in good condition. Mould is apparent in the bedrooms and bathrooms. Rooms at the back of bnb have windows so old you are scared to open them.
The shower curtains are so old they are crusty.
The carpets are questionable in the rooms and awful downstairs.
I understand this is a budget stay. I am not expecting luxury but the mould really should be dealt with. It is not healthy.

Very welcoming, great staff who go the extra mile to help you settle in, and and wonderful location.
I didn't let them know about some of my dietary preferences, but that's now all sorted, as Paddy is open to adjusting meals to suit, so my next visit all is sorted.

Small and cosy. The location was beautifully remote and perfect for exploring the surroundings.
The rooms were spacious and cosy and the English breakfast (including vegetarian option ) in the morning was nice.
The owner was very welcoming and accommodating. The place was very cosy and laid back. The rooms were just above a small local inn and despite the remoteness of the place , it didn’t feel lonely

Fantastic location, in a remote quiet setting in Dartmoor. We wanted to experience Dartmoor, and this was a perfect place to stay. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Paddy cooked a fabulous big English Breakfast! Lovely comfortable rooms. We will come again! Great value for money.

I loved the old characteristic building. The place is absolutely stunning and the staff were warm and welcoming. I throughly enjoyed every second of my visit. I will definitely be rebooking and revisiting. Thanks for the informative information and making my trip special and memorable. The food was good and was address to my preference of time and me being a coffee addict, they supplemented to my awful addiction. Thanks so much to Paddy and the team!

We booked a double deluxe room which was spacious and very comfortable, furnishings and carpets were clean and well cared for and plenty of hanging space and drawers. The ensuite bathroom is well appointed with good quality toiletries and fluffy towels provided and good quality loo roll that doesnt disintegrate the moment you touch it! These things are important. Our bed was very large and hugely comfortable with lovely linen feather pillows and a gorgeous duvet. Views from the window were outstanding. T
Paddy the owner is one the nicest people you will meet, nothing is too much trouble. He makes a great pot of tea too. Breakfast was excellent with a choice of cereals, a vegetarian cooked option and oat milk available on request.
Richard runs the well stocked bar and is a friendly host for whom nothing is too much trouble. Both know the area well and can signpost you to places to visit and eating options. The restaurant offers pub grub with good choices; there is limited opening but on the one occasion we ate there the food was good and there is plenty of it.
The location is amazing, if peace and quiet is what you are looking for then this will not disappoint. In the middle of Dartmoor with easy access to everywhere but peaceful with only birdsong to wake you in the morning
An unforeseen circumstance led to us having to change our plans and we had to prevail upon Paddy to stay on one more night. Paddy was hugely helpful in assisting us with getting an emergency sorted out, and was accommodating with the extra night, allowing us to use the landline to make essential emergency calls. Thanks Paddy we would not have managed very well without you.
I will not hesitate to return to Forest Inn it has everything I look for, its clean, comfortable, in a great spot, and a warmer welcome would be hard to find.
If you like to be on your phone 24/7 this may not be the most ideal place for you. There is no mobile phone signal unless you go 5 minutes up the hill to the top of the moor. However there is excellent free wi-fi accessible in all areas so you are not completely out of contact. We had an emergency to deal with and with great assistance from Forest Inn we managed well. Dont let it put you off but if you need to be making calls all day you need to be mindful of the mobile phone signal.

Great little BnB/inn with a nice bar with plenty of choice. Breakfast and evening meal were great. Paddy even lent me his map of the area as I forgot mine!

I liked the homely vibe. Staff were all really friendly and welcoming.
I think it could do with some usb plugs in the room which would update it slightly.

Friendly quiet location with local and tourist visitors. Food was good quality and very fast service. Short walk to a beautiful spot by the dart River or a longer hike up to a stone tor.
Nothing at this price point.

On my return to Dartmoor I chose to return to this lovely place. The Inn is a wonderful cosy place with nice rooms and wonderful staff. There is a pub with an enjoyable traditional menu for lunch or dinner as well.
The location is excellent, right in the middle of the Moors with walking routes and great views starting right in Hexworthy.
We love returning here.
