Great staff
Room and facilities like the kettle were a bit jaded there were notes to say things were being fixed but it doesn’t take 24 hrs to sort a kettle.

Lovely old pub
Rooms bit dated

The food was incredible, genuinely one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. The staff were amazing, friendly, attentive and made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. It’s a cosy, traditional village pub with loads of character and charm, really cute and instantly comfortable. A place you relax into within minutes.
The room was a little chilly even with the heater on, especially in the bathroom, but it is an older building so that’s understandable and part of the character. The TV also didn’t seem to be working during my stay, although it didn’t affect the visit as I was mostly downstairs enjoying the pub.

The food was absolutaly delicious, all our friends we were with enjoyed the meals , the staff were absolutely brilliant
the only observation with the menu was the lack of vegetarian dishes ,
overall we didn't find anything to taint our stay with you, without hesitation I will recommend the three crowns for service , quality and value for money sadly the only fault I could find was the lack of vegetarian dishes as one of our party couldn't eat meat

Super friendly and helpful team that made us feel very welcome and really looked after us.
The atmosphere in both the bar and the restaurant were fabulous.

Wonderful historic building full of character and charm. The 3 Crowns is run by an efficient and friendly team and they looked after us all perfectly.
It has good bedrooms, comfortable beds and a restaurant with varied menu choices. There is also a cosy bar with log fire.
Perfectly situated in the centre of Chagford and on the edge of Dartmoor.
We’ll be back very soon!!!
All excellent!!

This property has so much character that hasn’t been lost with modernisation.

Some staff were very good. Heather in the evening and the lady who served breakfast and the young girl behind the bar. Others seemed to have an edge perhaps due to high demand at Xmas.
Some staff came across grumpy. Parking policy changed since we last stayed in 2016. No omelette at breakfast. Tv remote didn’t work properly. Plumbing noisy. Rat or bird in loft at 4AM woke us. Accommodation getting tired needs investment.

Good location and lovely rooms
Breakfast was a bit disappointing as my poached eggs were rock hard

The lounge area is so cosy, especially sat by the fire. The front of house team work really hard and are so friendly. Food is very good.
House keeping staff (not the younger girls) were a bit odd - coffee machine didn’t work but she suggested it was user error. Said she would check but nothing was done. Offered to just give us towels etc rather than spruce up room possibly because they were busy / (couldn’t be bothered?) Total bill for two night stay and meals was over £600 and was asked on exit payment if I wanted to leave a 10% tip for housekeeping. I declined. Rest of staff were great.

The lack of parking, understand why though

Rooms were nice, food was excellent, staff were very friendly
Parking was a bit of a nightmare and the extractor fan in the bathroom ran all night.

Staff were great , hotel was clean and tidy ,breakfast was good and plentiful.
Evening food was good but expensive for what it was.
Village is lovely and so were the people ,helpful and friendly.
All this was let down by a noisy bedroom , extractor fan from the kitchen going on at 7.30am and off around 10/11 pm .so if you had the window open or shut you could here this, also fan running all night above the bathroom and a squeaky hissing in the bathroom all night? Seemed to be if you staying in a certain part of the hotel you would hear this .

The location is beautiful, and the bar is great. Lovely old building.
This time, sadly, the staff were sullen, curt and unprofessional. We felt like a number, rather than paying guests. Breakfast late and mixed up, lumpy mattress, window in bedroom was broken. No hot water in the sink. Small bed. Upgrade was like a standard room.

Friendly team. On site car parking is available if you spend on a superior plus room. Good breakfast.
We paid for the stay in cash at £300 plus but they still debited my card on booking.com. I phoned them to explain and they just said it was because we had paid in cash and no-one had noted it. No apology was received, it appeared i just had to accept that and wait for a refund. Bar also closes very early for a hotel environment....another hangover from when hospitality was supposedly on its last legs due to covid....and remains offering less hospitality!!

Bar with open fire , good beer . Cosy room with comfortable bed . Location in village .
Awful filter coffee at breakfast , bitter and been sitting there since the beginning of service . If latte, americano etc required it would have cost more !!

Charming building.
Would have liked a view
Lacked atmosphere…needed a little background music in bar and whilst eating
Slow service for dinner …sat 45 minutes waiting for food ..would have preferred to stay warm by fire. However food was very good x

The overall stay was good. Food was excellent. Staff brilliant!
The only downside was that the room (classic king no 19) was really warm and stuffy and I asked for a quiet room but had an extractor fan running outside till 11pm and from 7am.
Stuffy room and noise

The ambience and dining area.
In bedroom a lack of electric sockets, only one hook for towels etc in bathroom, lack of space around bed.
Terrible coffee for breakfast
9.0 / 10.0
Characterful , well laid out . Great outdoor spaces
Stairs narrow but to be expected due to age of building
3.0 / 10.0
The hotel was ideally placed for an event we were attending in Chagford. The restaurant was good and the food was excellent.
Our hotel room was tiny and impractical. It was very hot and overlooked the restaurant conservatory. People in the restaurant could look right into our room unless the curtains/blinds were drawn. The building was old and the stairs difficult to navigate with cases, and the corridors were poorly lit with uneven floors.
