Turtle Apartment

Plenty of room for six people. The host Michelle was awesome and very responsive! The condo was represented well in the booking page. It was easy to find but was in the part of Edinburgh on the hill so was a bit of a walk with our luggage. There are some steps from the street to the apartment that would be hard to navigate if you have mobility issues. The apartment uses a code instead of a key. This is very convenient for when people want to go in and out at different times. Instead of trying to remember who has the key, everyone has the code. The location is close to attractions, restaurants, and shops. It’s perfect for sightseeing and exploring Edinburgh. It’s very close to the Royal Mile. The two bathrooms are separate from the bedrooms (rather than en suite) which is nice when you are traveling with a group. That way people don’t have to walk through someone’s bedroom to use the bathroom. The bigger bathroom has a huge jetted tub and waterfall shower!

A couple of the beds are not very comfortable if you prefer a firmer mattress. If you like a soft mattress then you would be fine. The fold-out couch bed in the front room was not comfortable. A shorter person or child would be more comfortable just sleeping on the couch. The bathrooms had almost no surface space for hanging towels or storing clothes while taking a shower. In one bathroom there was shelving where you could set small things like toothbrushes but nowhere to set larger items except on the toilet. One of our party is very sensitive to chemical odors and had a serious asthma attack due to the laundry soap used at the apartment for washing linens, towels, etc. It didn't bother the rest of the group so wouldn’t be a problem unless one has sensitivities.

Location was excellent. Very close to the Royal Mile. It was well equipped and well supplied. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable. There was plenty enough room for us (a party of seven adults) although we didn’t spend that much time there, as we were out visiting shows (at the Edinburgh Fringe). Communication was great and the hosts were very amenable to dropping bags off before check in. If you are looking for a ‘bolt hole’ in Edinburgh for a sizeable group, this would be a great option.

It is a basement Appartment, so dark - but not a problem for us. Otherwise nothing else negative.

Location was fabulous but the property was not what we expected. The layout of the rooms and the amount of beds were not as advertised. 2 of us ended up sleeping on the sofa bed in the kitchen with a very noisy fridge to keep us up during the night. The property does not sleep 8 as advertised. When I booked there was meant to be one room with a double bed and then the two other rooms with two extra large double beds - these ended up being twin beds so we only had room for 6 in the bedrooms and had to sleep in the kitchen.
