Only good thing is the location - terrible customer service!

The location was perfect. The bed in the main room was comfortable and the bathroom was well arranged. Kitchen had all the equipment needed. That's it.

How to start... Arriving with two kids and a lot of luggage, I'm informed that I "had received a text that morning" to tell me where to go pick up the keys, which I did not receive. I had then to walk/run 10 minutes each way to go to a reception and pick up the key. The person working at the reception was nice but clearly overwhelmed - probably needed some help. Then walking up, the stairs are not clean and well arranged at all - there's wiring, plumbing, dirt everywhere and they are not really safe. Arriving at the room, it is incredibly hot, but this was a hot summer day and we were told there was air con. Nope! There was a standing air con unit, which barely worked in the beginning. TV? Broken (literally, the screen had a crack). Second bed? A pull-out couch (not prepared). There was dust on the plates and the fridge was barely working (a water bottle left overnight was not even fresh the next morning). There were spider webs on the walls, someone left a vaccum cleaner in the room... You get the picture. The best part: after dinner we come back and the room is again incredibly warm - it seems the "air-con" had stopped working. Calling the owner, he told me I had to EMPTY THE ARICON RESERVOIR! So here I am, a paying customer, having to remove a moldy (yep) hose, find a big enough box and pick up a 25kg appliance to empty it. Fantastic customer service. Overall this experience was a classic "buy an apartment, modernize what customers can see and put it up on airbnb / booking" experience. Rarely have I had such a bad experience in a hotel.

Dangerous, hot and noisy.

Well located in Troyes centre.

Where to begin! The room was on the third floor of a building in progress. Fire safety was non existent as tiny rickety stairs and poor non existent lighting. Room was incredibly hot and opening the windows allowed all the noise of fighting and partying to seep in till 3am. No indication of how difficult it was to get luggage up to room by receptionist. Exposed wires and part finished structures throughout. Lovely concept but everything looked sub par even for French building regulations. No fire escapes. Sib par air conditioning unit that heated the room. Glad we only stayed one night.

It was small, not as advertised with no sitting area Up two flights of spiral stairs; tiny room; dirty fridge; Access was really difficult and stressful having to go elsewhere for keys and then through restricted bollards and the key card didn’t work. Great location, easy check in, but for a short stay.

The location was great, very close to a parking which was free in the night. It was also close to a supermarket and bakery. It is also in the city center. The reception guy Pierre was super friendly and kind. Check in and check out were super easy. The flat was cute, as it is a little flat in an old house.

The floor was dusty ( if you walk with socks your sock would be super dirty ) . In the bathroom the water was not draining well in one of the lavabos. Some of the furniture was old and damage ( a chair with a bad leg) a toilet seat was also loose. At the entrance of the building where the falt is, there is a hall with an open ceiling and it had rain, but something fell and it was some dirt on the floor.

Small shower where one can't stand up straight, spilling shower water on the antique floor can't be avoided (will rot in a few years), pity. TV on a woorden plank on the fridge is makeshift and unstable.

Right in the centre of the old town! Beautiful property but - the room we stayed needed a lot of work. Lovely basket breakfast though!

There was a smell in the room like cat litter. There were nails poking from the old wood floor which could be hazardous for little feet or old feet. We asked for a cot and the bedsheet of it couldn’t be more discoloured … :( pieces of the kitchen cabinets were loose, and the Tv was balancing on a piece of wood on top of a half fridge. Definitely didn’t worth the price!

The information very clearly states it has ‘Parking’, this is NOT true. There is NO PARKING, but the owner insists there is parking because there is some available public parking a few streets away. This was impossible for us, as the height restriction was 1.90m and our vehicle is 2.10m. If the owner had been truthful about the description we would have not booked. The owner kept insisting he was right and there was parking, and even went on to raise his voice, telling me I was wrong and ‘do I want to stay or not!’ (We did stay after driving round to find a parking spot, as it was so late) Also, the other inhabitants of the apartments were single men, all smoking in the hallway. It wasn’t pleasant.

good space, and great location

very difficult to get into garage and garage door was broken. narrow steep stairs could have been a problem - fortunately we are fit and healthy even if we are in our late 60’s! a big sharp screwhead was sticking out of the floor just inside the bedroom. it could easily have ripped someone’s foot apart - very dangerous!

I would definitely come back here, loved it.

An excellent location in the centre of the old town. The apartment is in a beautiful old traditional building - the stairs are a bit rickety and the wooden floors uneven, which was all fine for me and gorgeously quaint but might be slightly problematic if you're unsteady on your feet. The member of staff who met me was really helpful and patient (my French isn't brilliant) - she even called me on the day I was due to arrive to explain the parking situation.

The only slight negative is that the property says there is private parking but the charges aren't shown and I wasn't told about the extra charge until I had parked up!

If you are keen to stay in old town, OK. If you are passing through there are better options

- quiet location, - clean, comfortable bed. - suitable for overnight. It had some cooking equipment which we didn't use - good value for one night - within walking distance of restaurants

- you have to book parking in advance in what is almost a domestic sized garage so not available when we stayed as full with 3 motorbikes. Had to park in public car park which wasn't too far away but had to start paying at 9am to had to start feeding the meter. -property is on road which requires code/pass entry to lower the bollards. - had to collect keys from an entirely different location which again in old town and not easy to find - esp if you don't have google maps on your phone. Receptionist there was not the friendliest of people - we were exasperated by the time we found the place, in a court yard off the road, and he was quite impatient / dismissive with us. -The property in is in the old town and signage outside is poor. Local residents who we asked for directions said they are always being asked. The garage door was open and all we could see what a big bank of washing machine so we thought it was some sort of laundry business -if you are in 2nd / 3rd floors you have to climb narrow old wooden stairs - would be difficult for someone with limited mobility and luggage.

Location was very central to restaurants and the beds in two of the rooms were large and comfortable.

To be totally honest, I think in general accommodation in the champagne region is not great value for money, so im not sure we would have got much better anywhere else for the price (£162 a night). A few things to be aware of though that I wish I’d known: 1) unlike some other reviewers, there was no parking nearby and the receptionist advised the closest street parking (paid) is a 6-15 min walk away. 2) there is a night club across the lane, and so we had people yelling / yahooing until 6am. 3) there is no a/c in the rooms. 4) the lobby of the apartment is a construction site, stepping over bags of concrete etc to get up the stairs.
