Hotel Grifone

The location of this hotel is perfect, just by the castle in Sirmione. The staff were very nice and did everything to make the stay comfortable and easy. The breakfast, taken in the courtyard by the lake, was excellent, with good choice of fruit, pastries, cold meats/cheese, etc. Our room had a balcony overlooking the lake, which was magical.

I liked everything. I couldn't fault this hotel.

The breakfast was splendid. European selections of meats and cheeses, eggs, pastry and different breads, and local baked goods like cakes and tarts. Lots of different coffees, teas and juices available. We looked forward to breakfast on the sunny terrace every morning. Great view to the lake and the castle. The hotel is right inside by the castle walls and very convenient to the hotel-endorsed outside parking. Great to walk the whole peninsula (takes about 15-20 minutes). Make sure you see the tip for a great sunset!

Nothing to change here. Everything was above and beyond!

Location was excellent!! Dated, but very clean and charming. Wonderful breakfast terrace!

Nothing

Amazing location and an abundant breakfast! It was really great having all those cakes and cheeses by the morning.

There were multiple things that went wrong, but the most important one: the receptionist's attitude. It simply was off. I understand perhaps she was doing her best and tried to make sure the hotel was under her "control", but sometimes it was too much... If you want to "control" your guests, do it on a way they won't feel it. If you want your guests to feel happy and comfortable, you need to communicate clearly whichever the rules are and know when to "ease" things up when things go wrong, otherwise it will happen what it happened to us: stress and distrust - the last thing someone wants during a trip.
