Expected a comfortable experience

Amazing location and an abundant breakfast! It was really great having all those cakes and cheeses by the morning.

There were multiple things that went wrong, but the most important one: the receptionist's attitude. It simply was off. I understand perhaps she was doing her best and tried to make sure the hotel was under her "control", but sometimes it was too much... If you want to "control" your guests, do it on a way they won't feel it. If you want your guests to feel happy and comfortable, you need to communicate clearly whichever the rules are and know when to "ease" things up when things go wrong, otherwise it will happen what it happened to us: stress and distrust - the last thing someone wants during a trip.

Excellent location in the old town on the water’s edge next to the castle. Convenient parking at GerifoParking outside the ZTL with electric cart service right to your hotel; arrangements and payment made through the hotel (€31/day). Very friendly and helpful host Laurenzia. Very large room and bathroom with comfortable queen size bed and pillows. WIFI, A/C, TV, large armoire and desk. All you can eat breakfast buffet with a minimal but adequate choice of items. Very nice outside nice breakfast patio, just a lot of sparrows picking at our table, you have the option of sitting inside.

Make sure of the room you select, we thought we reserved a room with a water view but were told upon arrival that what we reserved was a partial water view. We changed to a room with a water view which was fantastic and paid the additional €20/day, the only problem was the room didn’t have a shower, just a bathtub, a real negative for us. Make sure what you are getting before reserving a room Although the room was large and had an armoire there were no luggage racks.

Amazing location, incredibly dedicated and helpful host, very reasonable rates, quiet and a taste of an old school Italian hotel.

So long as you’re not expecting a chic modern vibe it’s perfect. The hotel doesn’t try to be something it’s not.

Cosy and relaxing

I really enjoyed my stay at this lovely little hotel. The atmosphere was cosy and welcoming, and the location was absolutely incredible – right by Lake Garda! Waking up every morning to such a beautiful view was unforgettable. Breakfast was delicious with a nice variety to choose from, and everything was fresh and well prepared. A big thank you to Laurenzia, who is such a wonderful and attentive host.

I would like to mention that the bed could be made a bit more comfortable, as the mattress felt rather firm and the pillows were not of the best quality. Regarding the shower, it might be an improvement to consider installing a screen instead of a curtain.

The property is situated very central to the main areas of Sirmione. Glorious views from the attic room I had and the restaurant is right on the water.

The only gripe was the shower because it was so small and the shower curtain kept sticking to me as I showered because it would blow in. It also meant the floor got really wet too. But everything else was great!

Breakfast was excellent Laurenzia went above and beyond, Hot dish might be nice (Eggs/Sausage/Bacon?) but the presentation was great. The patio by the water was wonderful. Hotel is in a great location.

The perfect stay

The location was great, right near the Castello, in the heart of Sirmione old town, just a few steps away from restaurants and souvenir shops. The hotel is small, clean, cozy and gives a homey feeling. Our room was comfortable, and the view from the window was very nice. The breakfast buffet has a generous assortment, and the breakfast terrace is just above the lake, with a spectacular view at the lake and the Castello. I loved these mornings on the terrace so much. The hostess was exceptionally helpful and friendly. When we are in Sirmione next time we'll definitely stay at the Hotel Grifone again.

2 Star with 5 Star staff!

Room was comfortable and I loved the alcove entrance. The balcony was perfect and gave an amazing view! Breakfast was nicely optioned and the view from the outside seating space was phenomenal. What makes this hotel is the owner and staff. They really put attention into making sure your stay is perfect and relaxing. Can't wait to stay here again!

Charming little hotel

The hotel is really close to the Scaliger castle and really convenient for everything in the center. The open car shuttle from the parking is great and well organised. The breakfast was lovely with great choice of sweet and savoury. And as it was a beautiful day we were able to eat on the terrace on the lake which offers a wonderful view. We had breakfast to the sound of the lake and the many sparrows and birds around. Just heavenly! Staff is super-helpful and kind. Moreover Hotel Grifone is super clean. The furniture is some kind of modern vintage which I believe it is part of its charm. I would recommend it for couples.

Great location inside the historical walls of the city. One side has a direct view of the castle, the other a view of the lake. Great service, friendly staff.

Breakfast looked better on the pictures than what was actually offered. Quality of the coffee was disappointing given that this is Italy. Wifi was ok. Overall, the hotel needs a bit of an upgrade, repairs and modernization (door locks, bathroom fixtures etc). The rooms have an 70s/80s design feel to it. Rooms were remarkably clean, though a strong smell from a lysol type room refreshing spray.

Lovely hotel in a wonderful location in Sirmione which is far better than the official 2 star rating

Wonderful location right next to the castle in Sirmione. We had a lake view room on the top floor with a fantastic view from the balcony (small but functional with 2 breakfast bar style stools). Comfortable room with air conditioning. Adequate storage for the 3 nights we stayed. The bathroom was a decent size and well equipped. More than you would expect in a 2 star hotel. Breakfast on the terrace directly on the lake front was wonderful. Wide selection of pastries, meats, cheeses etc and unlimited coffee. We would definitely stay here again it exceeded our expectations. The hotel arranged parking which included electric taxi transfer to the hotel for guests and luggage, this worked very well. It was 15.5 euros a day which was reasonable.

The hotel doesn’t have a bar but they do have a refrigerator full of drinks and will serve these on the terrace for you which we loved. There is a restaurant next door under the same name but different management.
