I chose the place based on its location for Carnival. I would rate it as "decent." There's a lot of reviewers slamming the place for various things but they all seemed to forget it's not a hotel. It's a hostel.
The wifi didn't reach my room in the back. Not a big deal, the common areas are comfortable. PRIME location.

I really liked this hostel because I met some good people there but if I have to be totally objective...
- The hostel is well located, 7 minutes walk from a metro stop and close to Lapa for those who want to go out and party.
- The common area for work is really beautiful.
- The kitchen is rather well equipped for utensils.
- Free drinking water.
- Hot water in the showers.
- The kitchen does not have chairs so you have to go to the common room to eat and the wooden chairs are not comfortable because there are no cushions and there are no sofas either.
- The beds in the women's rooms are horrible, it's a 3-tiered iron bed which makes a lot of noise and where you don't have space to get up or you hit your head.
- The staff were talking loudly in the reception until 11pm so it was impossible to sleep as the women's room is stuck to the reception.
- No curtains on the beds
