Awesome view, nice place and nice people

Well, It was a interesting experience. The staff was helpful and nice. The view from there is nice. It was really value for money.

One The beds was a little bit uncomfortable because of one specific mattress from one The beds was a little bit Hard for me but solved putting one extra o top of It because we rented The whole room.

Attentive host and a great terrace with an amazing view, clean too, rooms have lockers which is really helpful

Not a dislike but a recommendation would be to put some hooks on the walls in the bedroom, some shelves to have a surface to put things on

Eduardo is a very nice and funny host.

Shower. Matras. Only 1 plug in the bedroom. Something got stolen but returned to me in a mysterious way…. They don’t clean regulary.

Very very special

This was a magical stay - the hostel is peaceful and very easy to speak with the other guests. The place is clean and comfortable, with perhaps the best view I have seen in all of Rio. The hosts are absolutely delightful, will do all they can to help, and even gave me a big chocolate bar as an Easter present! It’s a a very sweet neighbourhood and a 100% safe way to get an authentic favela experience.

Absolutely recommended especially for ones who want to feel favela, but without a risk :)

The owner and his family are very friendly and helpful Great view from the terrace. Location around the hostel is very secure so one can walk any time Good pizzeria nearby (work at weekend evenings, but it was closed in the middle of June 2023, i hope it wasn't closed at all)

Quite difficult way up, but you can always go by bus. Internet is not stable - quite often lose connection (it was very critical for me), the same time it was the best internet that we had in Brazil.

Calm Sweet, kind gente, warm....

O enjoyed staying até Tavares Hostel since the Very First begining, I was hostel by the lady owner she was Very kind Sweet warmful, we talked and drinks some beverages together after her husband arrived we jad a good time Aldo, we laughed a Lot and share good things! Very pleased, I'm going to come back over there for two more days.

Perfect!

Everything was perfect. It has an amazing view and shops on every corner. The people in the community were friendly. The hostel is always clean. Very comfy to stay, feels like home. Dudu's family is amazing and very lovely, Shout out to Bea and Stella. :)

Brilliant location, even better hosts!

Dudu and his family are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet! They were the perfect hosts going above and beyond to make us feel welcome, providing lots of information on the area. The view from the balcony is stunning and the Wi-Fi worked perfectly. The area is safe and the locals are all really friendly. We will miss them a lot!

Beds could do with an update however it’s great value for money so worth the stay.

Dudu, the host, is a great person! The area is really safe and I enjoyed sitting on the top floor with a cool breeze. Great value for money. It's easy to walk up the hill. Also within walking distance from the domestic airport.

A few more power sockets would be nice. There is no air conditioning.

Favela vibe, nice view and great people!

we had a wonderful time! Eduardo - the owner is such a wonderful person, made us feel really welcome! the neighborhood is also great! you get the Favela vibe but you are safe! everyone there was super nice, helpful and even if mostly nobody spoke English they tried to help! best part: THE VIEW! seriously it’s amazing! thank u Eduardo for your kindness!

Friendly people and stunning view make the stay wonderful

Dudu and the staff are awesome and super friendly. Always here to help and make you laugh. They know how to make your stay feel like home. Not to mention the stunning sunrises and view on Pão de Açúcar.

Not a bad thing but just a reminder to future travellers: do not expect a 5 stars fancy hotel. But everything you need is there!

Everything, do not stay at this hostel no matter what the owner is terrible! The location is terrible! You won’t be able to sleep at night it’s loud and dirty and uncomfortable

Exceptional

This was a great experience. The favelas now are extremely safe and the neighborhood food d cheap and very good. I always looked forward to lunch at the kitchen restaurant around the corner from 11am-2pm. Almost like a buffet style for 18 Real! I stayed 8 days and figured everything out - so if you’re staying here, here are some good tips! First, I am in excellent shape so I prefer hiking up to get to the hostel, but there is a cheap and frequent van/bus service that only goes up and down for 2 Real each way which is nothing. It runs all day. Don’t take Uber there. The van is easy! There’s a subway station close by- takes you everywhere. The place is in central location which is awesome. The favelas are interesting! Have a look at the indoor soccer fields and pedestrian streets where the likes of Michael Jackson and other celebs went for scenes of videos etc. the host is great too. Text him on WhatsApp and he’s there for everything you need. Place is great and people super nice and friendly. A favela experience I will cherish!

Eduardo has been available and communicative since I made the reservation and the experience of living in a favela is fun, it is a safe place or at least, nothing has happened to me or I have felt in danger at any time. I liked the experience and the view is very nice

The bunk was too low and you could not sit on the bed. The place is cheap but if you add the transport to go up there, it is not so cheap. Walking, until the subway station, it takes about 30 minutes, the climb is deadly. I don't think they cleaned the bathroom every day

Une belle surprise dont nous nous rappellerons

La vue est absolument magnifique ! Dudu est fantastique, arrangeant, il donne quelques conseils et nous propose parfois de nous amener en ville lorsqu’il a des courses à faire. Les gens de l’hostal sont bien sélectionnés, tous super bienveillant et qui viennent plus que pour 3/4 jours. C’est vraiment top ! Une expérience dans une favéla ça n’a pas de prix ! L’emplacement par rapport à la ville est très bien aussi ! On mange des acai beaucoup moins chers qu’en ville et surtout naturels. Tout le monde est gentil, souri, dit bonjour, vous guide. Une vrai vie de communauté avec beaucoup de respect. Rien à craindre sur la sécurité !

Nous recommanderions plus d’équipement pour la cuisine, propreté des espaces communs plus régulier et des tâches sur certains draps qui laissent douter de la propreté (alors que sûrement lavé?!) Ça ne nous freine pas pour revenir car l’expérience vaut bien plus la peine que ça !! On paie volontiers 5 reals pour monter la favéla en minivan et avoir cette vue. À pied ça se fait mais difficile sous une chaleur plombante, ok la nuit

Tudo! A comunidade fica instalada próximo ao BOPE, e isso torna o bairro MUITO seguro. A experiência foi maravilhosa, muito válido para quem quer conhecer novas pessoas e fazer amizades. O Dudu e sua esposa são muito atenciosos, não tenho o que falar. Se quiserem a experiência de conviver com moradores local e estar em segurança, é uma boa aposta.

Os quartos são confortáveis e cozinha são confortáveis, a casa de banho também tem boas condições.

Fica numa zona alta, e íngreme e ruas estreitas. Subir tudo a pé demora um pouco, mas é um excelente exercício para calorias.

O local se encontra numa comunidade, ao lado do comando do BOPE, não tem tráfico, não tem bagunça, não tem som alto na volta, o pessoal dali todos legais, eu gostei muito, super recomendo, os donos do estabelecimento são muito gente boa, eu volto com certeza.

Acho que seria bom por as meninas todas em 1 quarto, isso não me incomodou, mas, isso seria bom.
