I wish there was one thing I liked but I thought really hard and could not come up with anything

The reasons for my negative review. 1- location. I have traveled to many different places around the world third world countries included but this has to be the worst location. I saw a guy stabbed another guy with a broken Heineken bottle not too far in front of this hotel. 2 - Filthy street, room. When you walk in front of this hotel, the smell of human feces grosses me out. I saw repeatedly human feces litterally right in front of the hotel door step and as you walk out and if you're not carefully you will step on the s**t. The hotel has a security camera but when I brought up the issue about people taking a s**t right in front of the camera the hotel management staff would not do anything about it. The room has cock roaches crawling everywhere. 3 - loud noise. Next to the hotel is a bar that plays ear deafening loud music late into the night frequently. I'm talking about way past 11 pm. 4 - Unfriendly/uncooperative, mean staff. The hotel offers daily house keeping. I would ask them to clean my room every three days to help the hotel conserve water from washing the bed sheets, towels (do they wash them? I don't know because there are a few instances the bed sheets smelled horribly after they changed them out) but my request is often ignored. Their excuse? They pretend not to understand English. Last but not least complain about this horrible hotel, I witnessed the two african brazilian ladies had a huge fight that went on for a long time and the worst part was I was there but that didn't stop them from cursing each other out really loud (I understand Portugese). If they are in the same team and have no respect for each other then they would not have any respect for the cusomters. Stay away from this horrible hotel. You have been warned

Don't have high hopes for it

The location only. In my opinion, Lapa is a beatiful and historical place, so it is always full of people and I felt safe over there.

The hotel at all. Okay, it is a 1-star hotel and I got it. Although, I did not mean to stay over because I intended to know the Rio de Janeiro city (and not to enjoy the hotel), but every time I was at the Hotel Americano I had a problem: shower temperature, quality of the bedroom and... I recommend them to change their sheets and towels!!!

Cheap single room if you absolutely don't want to be in a nice hostel

Location is walking distance to nearby attractions. The price was good for a private room. It cost less than hostels of 4+ beds in one room.

The rooms are not good. Everything is very worn. Visible damage everywhere. Mattress was sunken in and totally deformed. Bedding and covers had visible stains. "Hotel" is laid out like a motel - the rooms face the outside and can be pretty loud. They are also dark with just one small window in my room.

"Ótima escolha sempre"

Sempre me hospedo no hotel Americano. Gosto da localização, dos funcionários, são bastante atenciosos e gentis. É um lugar sossegado. Bom para descansar. As acomodações são boas, completas, com ar condicionado, oq é importante no Rio com o calor que lá faz, frigobar, atendimento ótimo. Voltarei mais vezes🙏🫶🙌

São algumas coisas que acho q deveriam observar e melhorar mais. Fora isso, tudo excelente. O quarto em q fiquei, a descarga de água do banheiro (vaso) estava com problemas. As vezes funcionava, as vezes não. Então em alguns momentos tive q usar um balde com água para que os dejetos fossem eliminados, mas nada q trouxesse maiores transtornos. A Internet do hotel bastante instável, não sei se pela demanda de hóspedes, mas enfim, de resto tudo ótimo 👍

Da limpeza, o quarto que eu fiquei 102... A cortina faz mil anos que não sabe o que é água, a banheira é horrível, o quarto parece um pulmão.... Com tanta nicotina impregnada nele... Uber pra chegar e uma novela.... Só fiquei, pq pensei que era estilo americano kkkkkkk E que for ficar nesse hotel, vc tem que levar sua coberta... Pq eles tem não tem ... E o 1° que vejo que não tem coberta ... E olha que lá e barato as coberta ...

Muita escada, muito barulho de ar condicionado, tv pequena com som ruim, pouca luz, pouco conforto.

Boa localização. O chuveiro e frigobar funcionavam normal. Tinha mesa e cadeira de trabalho no quarto, apertada mas tinha.

- O quarto era muito escuro com janela pequena bem no alto e iluminação fraca. - O ar condicionado não funcionava bem, tinha muitíssimo ruido, não tinha controle remoto e estava colocado em um local muito alto, dificultando alterar a temperatura, etc. Apesar do calor não consegui usar muito devido ao ruido e por não funcionar bem. - Apesar do hotel não parecer muito cheio fui colocada em um quarto no 3o andar, os andares eram muito altos, tendo que subir 6 lances de escada carregando mala. - A tv era muito pequena e tinha defeito no som ficando quase impossível escutar. - Colchão e travesseiros não eram confortaveis. Obs.: Poderiam alocar os hóspedes em quartos que não tivessem tanta escada e com bom funcionamento de ar condicionado e tv, acredito que existia.

As recepcionistas foram muito solícitas e educadas. A localização também é ótima.

Quarto com camas não muito confortáveis, cobertores e travesseiros bem antigos. Paredes com marcas de umidade e descarga com defeito, vazando muita água sem necessidade.
