Not worth the money

It was quiet.

My stay was okay but not great. The room felt uncomfortable due to the heat, and although the spaces weren’t dirty, they didn’t seem properly cared for. I’m surprised by the 9.1 rating 🥴

Kind host with basic and practical accommodation

-Alberto went out of his way to make you feel at home and was kind to let my friends use the bathroom when we picked up my luggage -Close to Santa Teresa -Nice terrace with great view -Good amount of space in the bedroom -Kitchen looked practical (I didn't use)

-Was very expensive for what it was - I appreciate this was during carnival -When pressing the flush for the toilet water would spill onto your hand -Despite the fan the room kept a lot of heat in -Host wasn't there when checking in - I was left standing in the alley in the heat with my luggage. I appreciate the host was very apologetic -I would ensure you are clear of your timings when you arrive. -FYI quite a few stairs to the accommodation

Questionable room quality compared to the price. At least location is good.

Good location

Room was not correct, and definitely not valued to the price we paid. Homemade bunk bed that threatened to collapse with any movement. No AC, only a ventilator: room was hotter than the outside, close to impossible to sleep with 30°+ in the room at night… Owner who would unlock and enter the room during the day without telling us (not to do any cleaning so totally abnormal to enter the room) Bathroom: Shower + WC being 50 cm from one another.

Superb

Centrally located near the nightlife of Lapa, but in a quiet part of the neighbourhood, the guesthouse offered an authentic Rio experience. The room was basic but cosy and comfortable, and the attentive and charming host, Alberto, enhanced the stay here with his friendliness..

Superb

The host is very kind and friendly. It is close enough to walk up the Selaron Stairs from the accommodation.

If you are roaming or have not bought a Brazilian SIM card, you will not be able to find accommodation. Even if you search for the accommodation address, the accommodation is not visible. You have to go through the door for a while, but the door is locked. At first, I thought I was in the wrong place, so I went to a nearby pub and checked it using Wi-Fi, but I was right there. I went back to the location of the address but couldn't get in. Besides, I couldn't speak Brazilian, so I asked a passer-by and the owner of a nearby restaurant. So he contacted every house by ringing the doorbell, and after searching for accommodation for over an hour, he finally managed to get in.

A lovely home and host.

Alberto is the nicest man in Rio! Did everything we could possibly ask for (and more) to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Perfect for an authentic rio experience in lapa. Good and cheap nearby restaurants and party atmosphere on the weekends. Doesn't speak English (we dont speak portuguese) but more than makes up for it with enthusiasm and Google translate.

Exceptional

Very good location in Lapa. Near to the bars and the whole nightscene but still in a quiet area to get a good sleep. Rooms and common area like in the pictures. It was clean and provided with what you need for a stay. Alberto was very attentive to whatever you could need. Thank you!! 😃

Great local experience and value of money

This house is not regular hotel like you suppose to expected. Basic facilities, but anyway you feel like it’s very local experience. Owner of the hotel doesn’t speak English, but anyway we understand each other without words. I was presentes by many things for free, he even didn’t charge me for laundry and got my cloth where I was on the way to some place where I suppose to pay for this service 😊

As for me - very great value of money. But don’t expect something like regular hotel, feel like you do homestay with a great guy 💪

Superb

In some sense this apartment exceeded my expectations, because I expected just a standard hotel with a standard attitude. You feel more like in a Brazilian home there, you have very good location with supermarkets and cool things nearby. Wifi works great inside the apartment(good for videocalls) and much worse outside(but good for surfing in the web). I enjoyed my stay, for this price this is amazing.

I saw many ants which attacked a lot of my food, supersmall pharaoh ants is a disaster there - they are everywhere :D Overall the apartment could be a bit cleaner but maybe with it it would be something not so authentic. But overall it is not that bad, you may not even notice them.

Nice family place

Very friendly host, was very eager to help. IMPORTANT: The entrance of the house is difficult to find, when you are at the street in front of R. André Cavalcanti, 123 then you have to go through the first (unlocked) gate, pass by casa 2 and then go through the second (locked) gate to get to casa 3. Coordinate with the host so he can open the second gate for you!

Real Brazilian house, great experience

Roberto Botelho is a great person who always care about what you need! As he said “mi casa tu casa” You will be really welcome in this typical Brazilian house ! Full immersion in local people life, in a nice district of Lapa, thanks Roberto :-)

Fabulous

A wonderfully friendly host will do anything to help you and make your stay good. He speaks Spanish too. If you want to see how people live in the heart of Rio de Janeiro, that's a place for you. And safe. The room was nothing fancy, but clean and good enough to stay a night or three. You can use the kitchen.

It's a bit tricky to find, up a path off the main street. Just go on and don't give up hope.

Can’t say anything else than good things about this place. The host is very friendly an helpful. I really like the terass, they had 2 and from one of them you had a great view. It was great with the free water aswell. Had my own toilet and fridge.

It’s a couple of stairs to go up to the house but not to hard.

Best of the best!

Ich bin nun das zweite Mal hier gewesen, und ich liebe einfach den Gastgeber. Man fühlt sich wirklich wie Zuhause und in einer traditionellem Carioca Unterkunft! Ich würde immer wieder kommen. Die Lage ist einfach fabelhaft und es ist ruhig und man kann sich gut zurückziehen.

Hospedagem com tradição bem localizada. Fiquei bem a vontade o quarto que eu estava tinha frigobar uma surpresa agradável, foi oferecido água filtrada a vontade, coloquei meu lanche no frigobar, fiquei independente ao lado tem uma rede boa para descansar e o Wi-Fi pegava bem , o responsável foi bem solicito na indicação dos transportes, a Casa parece Centenária com Móveis Clássicos e Rústicos do final da década de 30, muito legal, voltaria novamente!

Minha hospedagem foi rápida, gostei bastante que fui centro e na Glória e praia do Flamengo a pé! Local bem silencioso para dormir, tem que subir umas escadas nada incômodo, comércio abundante na esquina da Rua , rua residencial, tudo 👌 ok, gostei Recomendo!!!

Propaganda enganosa!

A localização proximo a Rua do Riachuelo, Lapa, Centro do Rio de Janeiro, nos proporcionou muita facilidades para pegar condução urbana como o metro, Vlt, tambem a questão de haverem muitos restaurantes e barzinhos, casas de show, banco.

Primeiro, a casa fica localizada no alto de uma viela, vila, tem que subir varios lances de escada isso não foi dito na Booking. Segundo, minha amiga chegou mais cedo do que eu e disse que foi mal recebida pelo Tião. Segundo ela, o anfitrião foi preconceituoso e questionou com desdem em relação a seu local de moradia. O mesmo seguiu com groceria na hora de explicar sobre as chaves que abriam os portões a deixando bem constrangida. Cheguei 40m depois e tomei consciencia dos fatos, só não saimos por ser véspera de ano novo e não tinhamos pra onde ir, mas juro que do portão onde minha amiga desceu pra abrir e me contou tudo, eu já nem queria entrar. Terceiro, não tivemos acesso livre na casa, não podiamos cozinha nem fazer um café nem abrir a geladeira pra guardar nossas compras pq o anfitriao não nos deixava a vontade, a cada movimendo fora do nosso quarto que era quente demais, ele aparecia do nada como se nossa presença causasse desconforto pra ele, sentavamos na varanda pra conversar relaxar ele aparecia e ficava ai ouvindo nossa conversa, saiamos do banheiro, ele de imediato ia olhar. . Eté na hora de dormir não era confortãvel, a beliche rebolava mais que uma dançarina havaiana, minha amiga teve que fazer escalada pra dormir na cama de cima pq nem tem escada de apoio pra subir, Quando acabava a água da garrafa que ele fornecia, nós não podiamos ir na cozinha repor pois ele não deixava afff muido desagradável, não recomendo a ninguém!!!

Expectativa muito alta, experiência ruim!

A comodidade é excelente,silenciosa e os banheiros são limpos!

A localização é muito boa e a acomodação tb,porem peca na limpeza(pia imunda,copos sujos com cheiro de boca,talheres sujos, geladeira bagunçada,o quarto cheio de teias de aranha e poeira)e não informam na descrição sobre a escada para acesso,caso alguém tenha dificuldade de subir é melhor evitar. O responsável é pouquíssimo simpático e usa o banheiro de porta aberta(vi 2x, inclusive foi questionado por meu marido).No geral,não ficaria novamente!

Muito agradável

O anfitrião super solícito, nos recebeu antes do horário de check in, carregou nossas malas e ainda ganhamos chocolate, muito querido, além de que a localização é ótima, bem próximo aos arcos da lapa.

A acomodação é bem simples, apenas não gostei que o banheiro do meio não fechava.
