The staff were excellent, friendly and so helpful! Fatma and Donna helped out so much and have a wicked sense of humour.... It was my partners birthday Thursday, so we got a cheeky night away..... Fatma did some amazing origami with towels that just set the room off.... Always love coming back

Cheap & cheerful! Dona is the best 🙌🏻

- Checking in and parking was easy and straight forward. We were greeted by Dona on first night, such a lovely and welcoming lady! 🤩 - Wifi speed super quick - Not sure what all the low scores are about.. location might be questionable but the rooms itself are clean, bathroom is big and clean, mattress we had was decent (could do with another pillow I guess), tea making and a tv. Standard for the price you pay!

The night we checked in was -1 degrees🥶 The radiator was cranked up but the room is still freezing and we couldn’t get comfortable. We gave Dona a ring and she was with us within minutes with extra blankets 😃 We stayed the other side of the main entrance and the outside light is so bright that it shines into the room even when you close the curtains.. this did give us the spooks😅

Bed was way too soft. Light permanently on outside the room, shining into the room all night, fit sensors so they come on with movement, it’ll save energy too. Bathroom fan stayed on all night and was noisy, everywhere else they shut down around 10-11 pm. The room was freezing when I arrived as the heating was completely turned off making everything feel damp. It should be left on at low temperature to prevent that, it took about 5 hours before I could get properly undressed. The bed quilt was very thin for a cold room, no additional blankets. Towels as small as my home hand towel. The shower has no pressure, barely any flow.

A comfortable and straightforward stay

I had a pleasant stay at The Beacon Hotel Cardiff. Communication before arrival was always very prompt, and on arrival I was warmly welcomed by the receptionist who was expecting me, check-in was quick and professional. The room was simple but had what I needed. It was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and I appreciated the bedside sockets. I also liked the refill dispensers for shower gel and hand wash, very environmentally friendly.

Areas for improvement: the shower water pressure could be stronger, and the room design felt a bit too plain and could benefit from more style; but this didn't prevent me from having a nice stay!

Dona on reception was friendly and helpful

Bugs in bedding , checked mattress and it was stinking and can see they added a topper to compensate. There was an awful machine noise every 2 minutes or so throughout the night . Had to pay for parking where other options include parking in the stay.

Fantastic value

I was delighted with this hotel. For £50 a night it represents amazing value for money. The room was spacious, clean and tidy, with a bath (not just a shower) en-suite. There’s plenty of parking and the breakfast (an additional £8.95) was filling and is also excellent value. Dona and the other staff were very professional and helpful, willing to go above and beyond to help you out. Next time I stay in Cardiff this will be my first choice to stay.

Frank is very professional, great customer care, we recieved a warm friendly welcome. The room was comfortable, light, airy, spacious but tired. It was lovely to wake up to bird song, and greenery, usually we stay city centre. I'd stay again, loved that it was easy to park by the hotel.

Other residents were lovely and had friendly banter with us. Quiet and serene for a good rest. Easy to find when arriving. TV was good.

The place is a dump in need of a complete renovation preferable with bulldozers. Worst Hotel/Hostel/Any kind of accommodation I stayed in. My room seemed to be home to an infestation of some sort so didn’t stay over. Should not be listed on here.

The bed springs could be felt quite clearly, like a really old lumpy mattress. Not like a usual hotel bed!! The room was OK but pretty basic. I went out for a walk as it wasn't nice enough to sit in for the evening! There was also a really bright light outside my window which made the room very bright

Friendly staff

The rubbish bags left outside our door from other guests that animals had been in and was scattered outside our room including used sanitary products. There was no plug for the bath and the staff couldn't find any. Spare pillows were not in wardrobe and when asked for non could be found. Overflowing dirty linen cages right next to our room outside. Mattress was dirty and stained. Little flies everywhere

Not a hotel ...more of a Pontins Chalet

Not much.

The room smelled. Actually went and bought airfreshner. The bathroom wasn't clean, grout missing from floor tiles. Marks in toilet and bath. Under the beds filthy. Stains on bedroom walls Cobwebs in bedrooms. Not hot breakfast. No drinks/other meals/food available. "Continental Breakfast', only option which was toast, choice of 3 cereals, a croissant and cup of tea/coffee out of paper cup. Upon checking in the place, was like a ghost town, informed just been bought by new owner, lots of working going on, only kept our bookings as they were full on the following night for an event. Informed no hot food but can go to lidl or local pub. Workman on site. Staff unfriendly upon checking out. Did ask what was included in breakfast and was told well what you can see in front of you. Asked how much,was told I think about £6.50. No indication the "hotel" and I use that term very loosely, is situated in the middle of an industrial estate. A would suggest pontins chalets are more suitable to describe the rooms rather than hotel rooms. As that is exactly what they are. All rooms exit to the outside of the building.

Cheap and cheerful - don't expect much!

Very basic but absolutely met my needs. A bed for the night, easy access to the city by taxi. Room was clean / tidy and it had a decent shower / bath.

The reception area looked tacky, half finished with old tired posters on the wall. Free tea and coffee. Also, the receptionist personal hygiene left a lot to be desired.

Spiders and flies in the room along with a centipede in the bathroom. Bathroom sink tap was too short to use. Bed was really spring. No extra pillows in the room.

Campanile Cardiff should be ashamed for continuing to advertise this hotel as they do, terrible!

The two staff we spoke with were nice and very apologetic about their hotel. There is a very nice Premier Inn 5 minutes walk away that does an excellent breakfast, would have moved but Cardiff was fully booked due to some huge artists playing gigs - total lack of any facilities or services, thats it for the positives.

The whole place is shabby, not clean, unsafe, in need of major repair, investment or knocking down. Think Bates Motel, Psycho! Not at all accessible for people with limited mobility, not wheelchair accessible, 10 inch step into walk in shower!! CCTV camera pointing directly into room so curtains had to be shut all day in very hot weather (ground floor accessible room), windows filthy, holes in curtains, stains on carpets, old rotting woodwork, lightbulbs missing, no facilities as advertised; no bar, no breakfast, don't expect an iron, spare pillows or a hairdryer, could go on. Appalling, dont stay. Campanile Cardiff should be ashamed for continuing to advertise this hotel as it does, at least be honest with how very crap it is, just dreadful, never ever again. Campanile CEO - go stay...I bet you won't.

Distressing

Good location, rooms felt private due to the cabin style

There were several dead insects on the desk and the sink counter. There was also a large curly hair on the sink. These could have easily been fixed with a quick wipe. Most concerningly, at 1am a member of staff and some guests entered our room without warning, waking us up. We were woken to the door being unlocked and people talking, and the people came through the door. Both of us were asleep and only wearing pajamas. Luckily there was a vestibule so they did not come all the way into the room, but we had to shout at them several times before they noticed we were inside (through the vestibule window into the room) and left. The staff member did apologise as they hurriedly backed out of the room, however nothing was mentioned at Reception when we checked out the next morning. We slept poorly after this and felt quite vulnerable in the room. The experience was very distressing and we were not given any explanation as to why this happened.
