Very nice old-fashioned hotel with big rooms in convenient location.

A family run old-fashioned hotel. Very quiet, private, great location. Rooms bigger than I expected. Good lighting - not dim! Especially liked the bathroom which was a lot bigger than more modern hotels. Extremely helpful and pleasant staff. Help with your luggage. Plus you can leave bags there for a few hours after check-out. I particularly appreciated the open-all-night reception area as I arrived at 3 am. My third visit here.

No bad points. The rooms on the first level do overlook some noisier streets but in a city centre you are going to get that but everything quietens down overnight.

An excellent value for money stay in a very central location

The location of this hotel is excellent for the city centre. It is a family run 2 star hotel, and so our expectations reflected this. Everything was absolutely fine; the room was really comfortable, good hot drink facilities, hair dryer, decent shower. The decor is maybe a little tired but for a 2* hotel it is completely acceptable. The staff are delightful and helpful. We felt that this property gives excellent value for money and supports a very hard working family business.

Good Hotel

It is a relatively old hotel, with somewhat dated facilities, and it feels like a more family-run business. Despite being old, the room is very comfortable, spacious, and functional. They offer breakfast options on weekdays. The location is excellent, on one of Cardiff’s main streets, with plenty of shops nearby.

The hotel has many stairs, and the Wi-Fi signal — at least in my room — barely worked.

Excellent location

The place is in need of decoration and is very tired; however, it's excellent value for money. 🤑💰 It has an excellent location and lovely staff. 📍😊 I did have issues with pressure in the shower, but that's to be expected being on the 3rd floor. 🚿⬆️ The rooms are absolutely spotless. ✨🧼 I would definitely return as the location is excellent, and to be honest, you only need a shower and a warm bed. 🚿🛏️

It's not really what I didn't like as I have chosen to stay here from previous visits.If you have mobility issues,ask for lower floor room.There are steps up to the hotel and room 2 that I was in had a bath with shower over.

No hot water & the male receptionist at the time wasn't nice; he always hung up the phone on my complaint until I checked out, still no hot water. But, the lady receptionist was very kind and friendly.

Location, staff were lovely. I wish the place was better as they deserve an exceptional rating for their staff alone. however the hotel itself is very run down and dated. It seemed clean. They also did accommodate my 2 date changes! Which we appreciated greatly

The price of the room was shocking for the standard inside I get it’s a family run place and competing with chains is HARD. but we’ve had much cheaper and a much higher standard elsewhere in locations very near. Room was freezing cold, couldn’t get the heating to work ended up asking staff for help which they did by bringing us a plug in rad. (Thank you) Sink in bathroom was leaking from I assume the pipes? Someone had just stuffed a towel behind it to help instead of it being fixed. We didn’t notice this until the morning as when we arrived we just dropped our bags in and went straight out. Shower pressure was really really low. We were only staying one night. We couldn’t have done two I’m afraid. I’m so sorry to leave this review as all the staff were so lovely. And your location is phenomenal.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Booking in was easy. The location was great, right in the centre. Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. Lots of Christmas atmosphere in the area.

Breakfast not available at the weekend, but easy enough to find somewhere to eat.

Receptionist was lovely, always had a chat and smile, beds were comfortable, beds were clean, plenty of tea and coffee and hot water, city centre location was fantastic, quiet at night even though it was full outside with party goers, very secure with 24 hr buzzer ,

Traditional hotel in the heart of Cardiff.

A fantastic location, right in the heart of Cardiff, but we were offered a room at the back of the hotel which ws very quiet. The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the local area. Because of the 24-hour reception, we were able to leave our cases for the day we left, enabling us to enjoy more of Cardiff.

Room smelled of someone smoking Mould on the walls and in the cupboard where you put clothes, we didn’t use bath/shower as it didn’t feel safe to as mould in bathroom as well

Quirky piece of heaven

If you want a room with a smart tv and a power shower, this hotel is not for you. If you want a comfy bed for the night, in the heart of Cardiff, a cooked breakfast, and a welcome so warm you almost feel like old friends instantly, then the sandringham ticks all the boxes. From the moment we walked through the door, Allison's welcoming smile, to her mum looking after us at the breakfast table (she is charming), this is the most quirky, and most endearing hotel, and we loved it...see you next time, Denver & Tris xx

Convenient location, clean, comfy beds, selection of tea/coffee & iron & board in room

Noise from outside - whilst the location is convenient, I didn't realise it was an area prone to plentiful nightlife. The shower took ages to get warm - minor.
