Most things are excellent: location, bus service, hospitality and cleanliness.

However, room facilities are rather rather old fashioned, it would need to upgrade USB plugs and attachments sockets for mobile telephones and laptops!

Served my purpose - a bed, a bath, breakfast - but would not recommend for tourists.

Very basic room, practically nothing else but a bed, a cupboard, a bathroom, and a small TV with limited channels. Other guests were very noisy, talking in the hallways, opening and closing doors, coming and going, it all echoed through the hotel. Breakfast was basic continental. There are few amenities around, or eat-out places, other than sandwich shops at the station. Getting to restaurants involves a steep climb down to the promenade, and a steep climb back up. There is a funicular though.

Location was good, staff were friendly, room and bathroom was good and spacious but a little outdated, balcony was a bonus.

Located near train station

The hotel was a 5 minute walk from the railway station. Gabrielle from the front desk was extremely helpful and accommodated our requests.

The quantity of the bath gel sachets was insufficient. It would have been more efficient and environmentally friendly to provide the gel in a single soap dispenser instead of multiple plastic sachets with tiny amounts of gel.

Disappointing

This hotels major asset is its location and that is what you are paying for. On the plus side the reception staff were friendly and the room was clean but that's where the positives end.

The furniture is very dated and sets a disappointing tone from the start. The beds are uncomfortable and the pillows were so thin that they offered no support to the neck. There is no dedicated shower in the bathroom, just a shower hose extension on the bath. We had a family room at the front of the building which for some reason was located directly across from the lift exit. On top of that there was zero noise insulation from the road in front of our room and we could also hear all noises from the tenants around us. The balcony was an afterthought with plastic seating and generally dirty. This property is just about passable for one night.

Simple, comfortable hotel

The staff were very welcoming and helpful during check in. Our rooms were comfortable. It is a short walk from the train station and the main part of Lugano and lake is a short funicular ride. We used the free transportation passes provided at checkin.

There is not much to do or places to eat by the hotel. You can not really walk to much from the hotel besides the train station.

Location perfect. Bus stop in front of hotel to downtown. Quick 2-3 minute walk to train station on side by track number 4. Robert and staff most helpful answering travel questions and providing directions. The included Ticino ticket is amazing for Free transportation.

Simple check in, very friendly and cooperative staff. The room was basic, but clean and air conditioned. Location is fair.

There was no facilities to make te or coffee, however, the staff provided hot water whenever I needed.

A OK one night stay near the train station with other inconveniences

So close to train station if take the correct path (but lack of clear walking direction from the hotel)

Tiny motel like feeling, and most noticeably, the room key is attached to a heavy and bulky metal tower that hard to carry (see picture). Maybe a style 100 year ago, but total inconvenient for today's traveler. That shows the age of this hotel and the management.

It’s very old fashioned and was being renovated at the time. I was on the 3rd floor without lift - it was fine for me but would be complicated for older people.

This was a comfortable stay, easily accessible and with friendly staff.

The staff were very helpful with local advice such as using the funicular for a one minute journey to the old town. The location was ideal for train travellers as it was a short walk from the train station. Breakfast was very good value with many options. The room was large and spacious with a balcony.

Great location, great value and slept very well.

We liked the location and the staff were very hospitable. It was a hot day and by the time we got to our room, the air-conditioning on and it was so nice. There were four of us and it was possible for all of us to fit in one room with four single beds.

My pillow could have had a little more loft, but really it was fine.

The pictures of the hotel room conditions are very deceiving, would not even give it a one star.

I liked the location, close to the train station, very convenient. they provided a kettle for me to use in my room.

I was very surprised to find a glass cigarette ashtray inside my hotel room. After checking in, on my way out, they asked that I leave my room key in the slot that has my room number, ( I felt this was a big safety issue, it was not behind the reception desk at all, anyone who had stayed in this hotel knows that they could just take a key from one of the slots for that room number. My room was on the 2nd floor, someone has closed the hallway door leading towards the elevator, upon opening it, a guest from one of the rooms were smoking. There was no smoke detector in my room, getting into the shower stall was a big problem, the opening was about a foot wide only, I had to use the bathroom down the hallway to shower.

very dated, very noisy at night. I could hear everything that happened above, below and around me. I booked because it’s pet friendly. I also called to ask if there were any limitations. after I paid for it all, the morning after I leave the room and head for breakfast at which point my dog wasn’t allowed in. they offered to bring me a croissant, at the front desk and a coffee… so I complained and explained that I had called in advance to avoid any odd situation. after complaining all of a sudden I was told that there is no problem and that I could sit at a side table. I got nervous and decided to leave. after setting off I decided it wasn’t fair to have paid for the breakfast without having it, so I called to ask for a refund. the man refused to refund my card and told me that I had to go back to the hotel and literally told me “you were upset and left, it’s not my fault that you left”. The people who I met the evening before were really polite but I find it unacceptable that if I even call to make sure there are no limitations for the dog and I am literally told “there is absolutely no issues. Dogs are VERY welcome”, then I don’t want to find myself in the situation where by I either have to sit in the hall to have my limited breakfast at the same price of a full breakfast, or sit at a side table. the excuse the man gave is that there was a “group about to arrive, so that could be a problem”. you should have thought about it before confirming that you’re a VERY dog friendly place. I am a client just as much as the group. I still want a refund for the breakfast I didn’t have, but if I can’t get it, I’m at least going to be vocal about this for experience which was relatively fine until it just wasn’t. also, Mr manager, when you tell me that it’s not your fault if I left upset… it actually is your fault as you’re responsible for your clients satisfaction and until that point I was just fine.
