Hotel Pestalozzi Lugano

I recently stayed at Hotel Pestalozzi in Lugano. My overall experience was average, despite its outstanding location and a few additional perks. The best aspect of Hotel Pestalozzi is undeniably its location. Situated within easy walking distance of Lake Lugano, it provides quick access to the gorgeous lakeside views and activities. The hotel is also conveniently located near a variety of restaurants and grocery stores, which made dining and shopping a breeze during our stay. Another notable perk is the "Ticino Ticket" provided by the hotel. This ticket gives you free access to public transportation and offers a significant discount (ranging from 20% to 30%) on various attractions, which can slightly ease the cost of your trip.

Despite these advantages, Hotel Pestalozzi fell short in a few key areas: - Parking: The hotel does offer some private parking, but the number of spots is very limited and it was often difficult to find a space. There are nearby parking options available but be aware that they come with an additional charge, which can add to your overall expenses. - Room Amenities: The rooms are not equipped with a kettle, refrigerator, or complimentary tea and coffee. While these were not listed in the room description, it still came as a surprise since these amenities are typically standard in most hotels catering to international travellers. - Key System: The hotel uses an old-fashioned physical key system. This we found not only outdated but also inconvenient, especially when my wife and I wanted to go out separately. The person without the key would have to wait quite a while for the other to return, which was quite bothersome. I believe a card-based system would be more suitable for modern travellers. In conclusion, while Hotel Pestalozzi benefits from a fantastic location close to Lake Lugano and offers some perks like the Ticino Ticket, it could certainly improve in terms of parking availability, room amenities, and customer convenience. It's a decent choice for those prioritizing location and cost-saving measures, but be prepared for a few potential inconveniences during your stay

Central location and close to the lake, nice staff, spacious room for 3, nice view

Location is perfect; easy reach from the station; 2 minutes away from the lake and the park. The breakfast is huge; room for 3 was large enough. Staff super nice and helpful.

Everything was ok; bathroom was really small, but ok; a fridge and a coffee machine in the room would have been nice.

We were very grateful for the air conditioning in a hot summer season. (Note: some cheaper rooms don't have air con - we deliberately booked a mid-price room that did.) The location right on a Number 2 bus stop was also useful. A short walk to the lake shore and old town area. The restaurant has a good range and reasonable prices. The multilingual staff were terrific.

It was not possible to make a cup of tea or coffee in the room.

More options for breakfast would be nice (warm, cooked food).

even though Switzerland is an expensive country I think the price/quality ratio was not good in this hotel. the breakfast was very simple, the bathroom had no amenities, it only had a yellow dispenser for what I assume was shower gel but smelled and looked like kitchen detergent.

Great location for the town, Lake, and Lakefront Park. Very good breakfast facilities and food.

The room key fob was intentionally weighty to require you to drop it off with reception when leaving the hotel. As well as inconvenient, this process suggests a lack of trust from hotel management towards its customers.

Location good if one wants to see Lugano, but extremely slow to drive in in the evening (last 3 km took well over one hour). Room good and clean, nice view to park. Fairly good breakfast.

The hotel facilities were good. They offered us a free ticket for trains and buses.

The minus point was lack of hot meal at the breakfast. To have an omlette you should pay 8 EUR. Only cold meal without any changes daily.

The rooms are very old and could be renovated.

the location is great 10 mins to Funiculare and easy to catch train at Lugano Station, it’s easy to walk to christmas market, centre park and lake. The room is cozy and clean. Breakfast is really great especially cold cut and cheese. All Staff are friendly and heartfelt.
