Long weekend in Lugano

What we liked the most was the wellness and spa are. We also had no problems finding parking for our car. The room was quiet, even though our windows were facing the hotel entrance. The hotel has a beautiful garden, and the restaurant with its stunning view is definitely the biggest highlight. Housekeeping was provided daily; however, it was a bit too late in the afternoon for us (around 3–4 pm), so in practice we usually declined the cleaning service.

Unfortunately, our apartment was disappointing. The furnishings were very old and there were many small damages throughout the room. It was not decorated at all and seemed to be equipped with random pieces of furniture, in my opinion, it did not look nice. After making the reservation, we received an email informing us that although the room has a kitchen, plates and cutlery are only available for an additional charge, which was surprising. We also paid an extra 35 CHF for our dog and 20 CHF for parking. There is not much space around the hotel to walk a dog. There are signs everywhere saying that dogs are not allowed, so overall it does not feel very dog-friendly. Breakfast was okay for a short stay, but it was very simple and exactly the same every day. There was no WiFi password provided in the room, nor any other useful information, such as spa or restaurant opening hours. The TV did not offer any smart services. Overall, I felt like I had travelled back in time.

I really appreciated the shuttle bus service provided for hotel guests on arrival and departure, a very nice and convenient touch. We had a massage at the hotel spa, which was absolutely wonderful and very professional. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant; it was beautifully presented and very tasty. The hotel room was clean, comfortable, and I had an excellent view from my balcony. Overall, the staff were highly professional, courteous, and made us feel well looked after

We had breakfast every day, but unfortunately the hot food was often not hot. There was also some confusion with the jam selection, one large rack with all jars having the same label, which made it difficult . Don't like the jam all the same. We also had to wait over an hour for a poached egg. To be fair, the staff apologised sincerely and did not charge us for it, which was a very nice and appreciated gesture.

It is always such a pleasure to come back to the Villa Sassa: everything is great, the big rooms, comfortable beds, the atmosphère and the excellent breakfast. The pool is also so nice to use again.

I have to say- an amazing service! Super kind and helpful! The hotel is located close to the train station. Restaurant has a beautiful view - it’s worth to come here just for dinner in my opinion.

Location was good. Short walk to the waterfront and old town. Beds were comfortable and everything was clean.

Doesn’t cost that money. Too outdated. I believe the hotel charges for the view:-) (my daughter was stuck in the bathroom because a door was locked since the lock was broken and the key didn’t work properly).

Very comfortable hotel with great views, offering very good value for money

The suite was very spacious and more like an apartment, with a good view of the lake. Th outdoor swimming pool was very nice, with lots of space for sun lounges. The gourmet restaurant is also very good, with excellent service. All in all, very good value for money.

Some of the exteriors of the building would benefit from some paintwork.

Wonderful staff and hotel.

The hotel is really good! They offer transfer from the station to the hotel for free, also the customer service is wonderful. Gym and wellness area are well maintained and super clean. The hotel offered a free room upgrade to us, it was a nice gesture. Breakfast offers a variety of options including lactose and gluten free.

Quite understaffed - waited for at least 10min for staff to finish chatting to each other to actually check us in [after a cleaner alerted them to my presence as they hadn't looked away from their chat to notice] and only 1 staff member on during check out when a large, possibly conference group, were attempting to check out so that took over 30mins of waiting time. No clear explanation as to how to navigate the hotel until we figured out that the entire complex is designed to be navigated underground only. Also be aware that the distance to town centre is how the crow flies not walking distance - lots of stairs and steep hill down to town.

The location was perfect, with the bus stop at the entrance. The breakfast was great, with a large selection of hot and cold dishes. The apartment was fabulous, spacious and the view was amazing

The kitchen was "empty". You could have it equipped for an extra Chf50 per day. I think this is unacceptable and surely they can supply cutlery and crockery as part of your billing

We came for the pool

The wellness and pool facilities are great. Views are excellent and location is good. Only a 12 min walk from the train station. Staff was very helpful.

The facilities really need a renovation. Beds are worn down. Bathroom and kitchen felt like a blast from the 80s. A good repaint is needed in the room.

Very big room, very good breakfast

Location - far from the train station and the center, requires a bus. The room includes a kitchen but only after completing the order we were notified that if we want equipment for the kitchen we need to pay an extra 50eur per night.
