Night away in a great lotion

The room was quirky as exsecpted very large and comfortable room with every thing what we needed for our stay.

It was noisy as the discription mentioned in the advert when booked, but was all from out side at all hours with it being on main street and bins being emptied at night also when the pubs shut with pepole runing aroud screaming.

A great place to stay for a few days,

The size of the room was good; the bathroom facilities were more than adequate and the towel radiator worked well. We enjoyed the very plentiful cooked breakfasts and the extremely central location a walkable distance from all that you might like to see in such an interesting and historic city. A nice relaxed atmosphere prevailed inside this lovely old building. Overall, would recommend.

The room (no 11) was very cold - partly because of the cold weather but also because the radiator, which was enclosed and not easily accessible, was not on when we arrived. In mitigation, there were two freestanding radiators supplied within the room which went some way to off-setting the cold and, fortunately, the central heating radiator had been turned on when we got back to the room on the second day.

Overall a pleasant stay but I wouldn't say it was value for money.

In an excellent location. The breakfast was amazing.

The windows in the room were frosted and therefore we couldn't see out of them. The TV was really small for the size of the room. Towels for the shower were very small and were more like hand towels.

The location

The accommodation. It was cold, the bathroom smells of stinking drains, the mattress was old and you could feel and hear the springs popping. The furniture was cheap, not a nice experience, and the price for one night was extortionate, in fact so was the price of the drinks.

Amazing place to stay

We have been coming here for the last 10 years I have been coming here with my mum and we always enjoy it We had a problem with the fire alarm beeping in our room they immediately changed our room over then our TV in the new room wasn't working so they changed it Everything they do it perfect and very friendly staff and the food is amazing

We stayed here for my graduation. An amazing location for a 2 minute walk to the cathedral. Close to everything we wanted.

We had an amazing 2 night stay, the pub, room and staff were lovely. The only thing that bothered us was the noise. It’s an old building so not sure if it was boilers/showers from other rooms but there was a fair bit of noise. Also not sure where from but people moving bins around the cobbled streets at 7 in the morning.

I liked the location of the Hotel, the bar and the outside area was nice, there were moments when the staff was helpful. The breakfast was lovely.

I booked a table to eat at the restaurant, I booked it from my room through a barcode that they given in their booklet, I picked what I was going to eat online. I came downstairs to the bar and ordered myself a drink went to the reception to ask about my table, no one stopped by to help me, I went to the bar again and the lady that worked there checked for my booking but because I booked it 40 mins before my meal, they haven’t reserved my table and I was set on my way to find my own table (bare in mind I was at the hotel on my own, my friend haven’t arrived yet, and it was very stressful time for me) anyway I couldn’t find a table so I went to the beer garden to wait till 7:30pm. I went to a reception at 7:28pm, a gentleman that worked at the bar came over and he was so helpful bless him, he pointed me to a direction where there’s more tables. When I was ready to order food I already picked what I wanted online and when I asked for scampi as a starter I was told that they don’t do that anymore and that the menu I looked at was an old menu. I then picked Stake pie from the new menu and the pastry of the pie was extremely hard. No one came to check up on me or asked me if the food was okay, but they were giving a full service to a table next to me. When I mentioned that the party of the pie was really hard the girl just ignored me. The bedroom I was given didn’t look anything like the pictures on your site either.

Very comfortable, lovely and helpful staff. Shower water pressure wasn't great, considering the lush shower room provided. Other than this, everything was superb. Would return and recommend.

Great location. Pub was cozy, food was good and the beer brewed onsite was delicious. Room was large and comfortable

On my second morning there was no hot water. The maintenence guy could not have been ruder or less helpful. The lady at the counter was nice enough to let me have the keys to another room, but there was no hot water there either

Not worth £400 for 2 nights! Stay in Chester regularly but wouldn’t stay at the Pied Bull again! ☹️

The room was lovely! Couldn’t fault anything about the room or bathroom apart from the view! Old filing cabinet/chairs/fridge freezer etc for £200 a night you wouldn’t expect that!

On arrival we were talking to the young girl on reception and she said ooh you’re in the room that’s haunted, didn’t bother me but it could have!!! We were also given the wrong room key and walked in on a couple! We got 2 free rounds of drinks off Peter, but that should never have happened! The breakfast set up was poor! Had to ask for glasses/ water and cereal to be topped up! Breakfast was lovely though!

The service was poor, staff didn’t seem happy to be there, the food in the evening was poor quality and value and the room was very hot and unable to feel safe opening windows as the fire escape was directly outside and there wasn’t a security restrictor.
