Went there because of proximity to Fenix museum

Great location in historic building.

Room 233, very poor lighting; stuffy, had to open window in the middle of winter; no nightstand tables. Food at dinner was mediocre.

Mixed, but overall positive and would stay there again

1. It'a a lovely hotel, in a very nice location, very handy to trams and water taxis. 2. The building is historic and very interesting. Do take the time to explore, especially the lovely staircase. 3. The staff made an excellent recovery from an initial failure to takes steps they had been notified of, and agreed to, at booking time. 4. They were mostly all young and very eager.

1. There are stairs from the street and no other entrance visible, so with bags, one has to go in to request staff assistance, leaving one's bags unattended on the street. 2. There was a huge construction site just outside my window, which looked to be far from finished. Luckily for me, was quiet, perhaps because it was a weekend. It could be very unpleasant to be in that room when the site was busy. 3. The dining room poses several hazards that could be remedied, one of which is that the dinning room has a raised section, with an almost invisible step. Very easy to be distracted and fall. I had thought that when I first approached that area, and witnessed that outcome when a guest from the next table actually did fall. A contrasting strip would go a long way to resolving this issue. 4. Perhaps it was my choice of main dishes, but they did not get above the ok level, when one might have expected high quality with lots of flavor. Boring was the best I could give the mains. 5. The desserts, on the other hand were outstanding, delicious, attractive and innovative.

The hotel is characterful historical place, not to be compared with modern high rises around the building. Rooms are very nice, spacious, modern and the bed sleeps very well. Personnel helpful and friendly. When we will come back to Rotterdam, this will be our hotel again. You can take water taxis as a way of transport into the city!

A wonderful hotel which is an attraction in its own right - would definitely recommend a stay here.

We loved the decor in the hotel - it transported us across the ocean to New York. The location and views from the hotel across the port were stunning and there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. The rooms were comfortable and stylish and the air con worked really well.

Lovely landmark hotel!

We stayed for several days prior to our cruise. The hotel is in a great location for not only being at the cruise port but very central to explore Rotterdam. We had two amazing dinners at the NY Basement. The breakfast buffet was all you needed and more. A wonderful stay!

Perfect but...

We loved the hotel and the location. The staff were wonderful. The room was very clean and comfortable. We loved the view!

After the second day we were there, the shower stated backing up and not draining properly. It also started gurgling, splashing up smelly water into the shower. Staff were notified at 8am and when we returned that night the gurgling continued. Nothing was corrected. We complained again and all they could do is put a bleach tablet, but that did not work. We requested another room, and we were told at 10pm we would have to move to another property on a ship. That was not acceptable.

Positive stay except for stairs

Staff was fabulous. Waterfront location was terrific and adjacent to water taxi dock. Hotel’s historic ambience was uniquely beautiful in a nautical museum way. From the cruise ship terminal it was a two block walk— ideal!!!!

Historic building had a lot of stairs. Our $200/ might room’s bathroom was on lower level (down two odd stairs) from the bed and desk. First room we were offered at $180/night was a half floor higher (9 stairs) than where the elevator was located! Our family has mobility challenges so this was unexpectedly hard.

Nice but wouldn’t book in this hotel again.

Nice facilities. Restaurant food poor and not good value for money. Check out time at 11AM was unreasonable. One will expect to check out later than 11. Furthermore the late check out fee was a rip off . Very disappointed that we were made to pay over €500 to keep the rooms until 5pm. Wouldn’t recommend staying at this hotel.

Great place for cruises. Hotel is right next to the Port of Rotterdam.

We were on the 2nd floor. The elevator was near by. Meals at the hotel were good. The fresh squeezed OJ at breakfast was delicious.

There may have been another entrance to the hotel that we missed but we had to carry our luggage up some stairs to get to the check in lobby.

Old fashion building hotel which is very nice - authentic - quite unique in its kind but confortable and updated. Good breakfast buffet. Good restaurant

Very cold in the bedroom when one gets in but after a while, if you open the radiators, it is O.K.

Amazing location with friendly staff and excellent breakfast

Extremely good service, staff was very professional and friendly. The room was very clean and the breakfast was very good. Lots of choice and fresh juices and food.

The pillows weren’t very comfortable. Would’ve liked a bit more choice. Especially cause the rest of the hotel is very well arranged.
