The value for money is not there anymore

We have stayed at this best Western many times in the past 15 years, normally for two nights. The hotel is conveniently located near Brussels and offers a well lit parking at night. The best asset for this hotel is its staff; they are helpful and welcoming and the housekeeping staff make do with what they have. We had a room on the main floor , with coffee and tea making facilities, a good shower and clean towels. The breakfast was great: one can choose a light breakfast of two pastries, jam , juice and coffee for 7.95 eur. which suited us just fine. The full buffet breakfast was around 20.00 eur. The dining facilities appeared clean.

Disappointedly enough, things have changed; this hotel has many maintenance issues. The shower had mildew around its base, the curtains were dirty, need to be washed and rehanged (as hooks are missing), the bed is not comfortable; the sheets and mattress have seen better days, and the pillows definitely need replacement. The wallpaper is bubbling and lifting …the carpet around the bed has seen better days. The heat control kept going out and I asked the front desk for help but that did not help for the whole night. At the price, the value for money is not there anymore….we will not return.

Adequate hotel for a stop during a road trip

The location is perfect for a stop on a long drive, as it’s just off the motorway. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was very good.

The bathroom desperately needs a deep clean. There was mold on the ceiling and the hair dryer smelled terrible.

Middle of nowhere and just off the motorway with no shops or restaurants around. very hard to find with the address given (Long and twisting E19 Motorway not indicating where exactly). Large sign from Motorway (if not blocked by traveling lorries) reads "HOTEL" but no name. Not suitable for tourists, only for travelling lorry drivers.

The location is right next to the highway, which I didn’t like at all. The rooms were not clean — there was dust everywhere. The only positive thing was the very kind and friendly staff. The price was quite high considering the quality of the hotel.

Probably wouldn’t stay there again unless I was desperate

Check in was easy as I’d done it online. The rooms are big. We had a couple of beers - no restaurant open - and then some food from the nearby service station. Breakfast was very good.

The noise from other people! From about 0100 - 0430, there was so much noise…..outside, and in the room next door. And housekeeping had missed my room out…..it was in need of a hoover, and there was no toilet paper. The bed was very soft, and I thought that I might disappear down the gap in the middle during the night.

Very strong uine smell from bathroom, sank bed and single duvet for two people to cover with. Very dissapointed. Attitude receptionist who was not willing to give us our money back. Well overpriced for what it is, 1 star from us, no more!

Not the best in the west

It was overall clean. the room was quite big. Some good additional perks (shampoo etc). Location is right next to highway, but not noisy though.

Awful breakfast - staff was not even refreshing dishes, like jar with juice was empty, no water at all. Hard to imagine but scrambled eggs were plastic - like a toy from ikea, tables were dirty (seemed that some guests got used to it and were not searching for clean table but rather cleaning it themselves before sitting). During check-in staff was not friendly. During check out it was nice.

The guy on reception in the evening was very friendly and helpful and supplied me with a list of great places to eat.

First impressions as I walked up the stairs was that they had never heard of a vacuum cleaner as the carpet was filthy, felt like leaving then. There were hairs on the floor of the bathroom and later discovered why the window was wide open when I arrived in the room making it very cold, there was a dreadful smell in the room. Let some water into the shower and after that no smell as the U-bend had dried out I expect due to the room not being used. The daily clean was extremely basic and I don't believe anyone has had a duster in their hands (in that room anyway) for a very long time. Where the guy at reception was nice and the bed was comfortable, the room was ok for a short work stay, it was way below even fair.

we had a disabled room, there was dried toilet paper stuck to the folding chair in the shower. we didn’t need it so we didn’t care too much and the rest of the room looked clean enough but it does feel like they missed a few spots whilst cleaning.
