Close to Eden park, clean and tidy rooms.

Location good. Close to Eden park.

Slowness of check out as have to check room on departure, full house only one receptionist to check. 10 mins before could leave.

A comfortable stay., especially convenient for business people.

My room was on the ground floor of the main building. It is a comfortable large room with a big double bed. A small separate bathroom in the corner had a shower with plenty of hot water. A fridge and basic crockery and cutlery are provided if one wishes to make breakfast or supper, as I do. I usually have a dinner at the on-site restaurant, but my visit this time did not allow time to do this. There is a good selection of bars and restaurants about 10 minutes' walk away in central Newmarket. I choose to stay here as there is free off-street parking, and it is close to motorways south and north which helps considerably with my business visits around the Auckland area.

Dated but well priced.

Dated decor but can't complain with the price paid. Free parking is great in this location. Air conditioning, a must in NZ during summer. Excellent location for Newmarket, just walk into town.

Noise, banging fire door near our room was annoying as there were a couple of school groups staying there and the kids were moving around until late and lots of loud voices in the corridor early in the morning. The place is very dated so the pricing needs to be low, happy with it for what we paid.

The extra cost to upgrade was exceptional. Loved the bed, it was comfy.

I couldn't reach anyone the day I checked in by phone. However, I emailed and the staff replied and phoned me. It was hot and there was no extra fan to have in the large room as the air con was around the corner. The bathroom had no fan, it was stuffy in there and the window opened to construction workers next door (no privacy).

Not happy as the quality advertised online does not match what I experienced in person.

The bed was comfy and the linen was very clean

I didn’t like that I arrived to find a crack in the shower floor. There is also a considerable gap around the door of my room. It seems as though the door is loose when closed, therefore a lot of noise comes into the room. The airconditioning was not working, which made my sleep more uncomfortable as the room was very difficult to cool down.

The hotel is tired and in bed of an upgrade however price we paid did reflect that the hotel was not premium.

Disappointed by communication

Proximity to southern cross

The money for the stay was taken out 21/2 weeks before, instead of normally the day we are there, my husband said on the first day that he would only be there for one night not two, as I was being released from hospital early, we did not expect all our money back but a portion would have been nice, the young guys lack of english made it difficult to communicate with him. As they already had our money he could not do very much about it, We stay there often and usually have a fantastic service. May look elsewhere next time.

Convenient friendly stay

Room was spacious. Adequate. Kettle. Toaster, Element for cooking. We didn't use as ate out. The showers were excellent - heaps of pressure and volume. Convenient restaurant on ground floor. Quiet. Good dark bedroom at night.

The place was ideal. Just would not classify as a luxury hotel. Convenient and ideal for what we wanted - somewhere to crash after flight back from Singapore, before flying home to Christchurch.

ok for short stays, it needs some upgrades

big rooms, easy access. The bed was comfortable and aircon worked ok within the room space (not so much for the bathroom).

The shower drain was completely clogged, but staff was able to fix it quickly! The bathroom is quite cold, and the shower had freezing cold water or really hot, it was almost impossible to get it to a pleasant temperature. I also saw many ants on the desk, maybe coming from outside? The toilet seat was in a very bad shape.

Enjoyable stay

The Lodge was close to the shops and easy distance for walking. Room was sunny and spacious. Our room was separate from the main building in another part of the lodge which was perfect.
