Comfortable enough but disappointing, will I stay there again NO

We booked a family room in February 2025, however the day before we arrive, I got a phone call to say there's no family room available, is it alright to have 1 queen bed, I said NO, because I'm travelling with my mother-in-law, so they said we have upgrade you and we will put a single bed in the lounge, we got there, and I thought upgrade to what! anyway we put up with it as we were there for 1 night, I went to use the bathroom, I opened the cupboard door and it fell out, I couldn't put it back, when downstairs to reception and reported it, text the photo as well, they then took $200 bond as well as the payment for the room of $219, they cancel the bond on Saturday when we left but we won't get our money back (bond) for up to 4 days (that is not good at all), they should have reverse the charge straight away. No air condition, just a fan which did not cool down the room. Not worth $219.

Could be better

The view from my balcony of the Sky tower and looking at the green trees below as beautiful. The rooms looked beautiful and would have been more impressive if the aircon worked, Staff at reception were very friendly and welcoming

The aircon was broken in the room and covered up with white tape so they are super-hot. Sleep was near impossible as you just could not cool the room down. We had 2 fans that were extremely loud so we couldn't sleep. We closed off the bathroom in hopes that would cool the room as there was hot air coming from the vents. This made the bathroom a sauna in the morning when we are trying to take a shower. The blinds did not close and there was a good 40cm gap. The beds were a good size but super hard

Sadly on arrival we were informed the air conditioning in the whole complex was not working and that fans would be in the rooms. There was no fan, so we had to request one. It was hot so made the stay not as good.

Location was excellent, close to food shops CBD and walking distance to wharf area. My kids room had a view of the tower. Reasonable size rooms.

Unfortunately air con wasn’t working and could only offer us a fan. Onsite parking is $35 a day and getting in and out of the carpark is terrible. So tight and dangerous. We had issues every day with our room swipe cards not working and had to call for assistance everyday. Rooms a little dated.

Great location, short walk from all the main areas of Auckland. Friendly staff and generally clean.

For a self service apartment there were some issues: No teaspoons A bread knife but no chopping board Only one plug for the sink which had to be shared between bath and washing up bowl - felt unhygienic No chairs on balcony despite place being advertised with balcony, you could only stand on it. No drying rack for dishes. Only drying rack for clothes was one line over the bath which was not enough for a full load.

Used to be our regular place in Auckland - won't be back again after this stay

Comfy bed and good location

Reception greeted us with "The pool is closed and the AC doesn't work, do you still want to check in?" ... I asked for a discount and he laughed. This was for a weekend after family arrived from the UK, not a great start as this is our normal go to place. The receptionist then took a long time checking us in. We then had about 4 people stumble into our room at 3am which was quite scary, their swipe card unlocked our door. When bringing this up at check out the receptionist didn't really seem to care. Also, no furniture on the balcony, which we normally get, seemed only some rooms had this...

Terribly Let Down

Pool not working and we weren't told when we checked in No air conditioning and we weren't told about it when we checked in. This is the second time that this has happened. The first time we accepted it and had to put up with noisy, rattling air fans going all night. When I made my displeasure known to the duty manager he said that I should have checked the icons on the advertising before booking it! Who dies thst when, like us, they have stayed at the hotel hundreds of times? He couldn't or actually wouldn't offer us an alternative room because apparently there weren't any. We checked on booking.com and there were rooms available that night. When I told the duty manager how unhappy I was with his explanation, he just said well, if you arent happy you can check out. So we did, immediately. We booked on Booking.com, the Avani Metropolis which was significantly superior all around. We were extremely happy with our stay there instead.

NO AIR CONDITIONING IN THE ROOM, POOL & HOT TUB NOT AVAILABLE. The room was horribly warm even though we had a balcony door n they gave us a standing fan after we complained about the air con not working. There were different stories from staff, some saying it had only just broken, others saying the hotel only offered air con in public areas. A resident who lived in the next door apartment confirmed he had air con working fine. Disappointed that nothing was noted on booking.com website that facilities were not available as this was the selling point for this hotel. We raised a complaint but have had no response. The overall hotel is well presented n carpark is very handy. Staff were pleasant n as helpful as possible but management should at least reply to complaints!

Room was a lot more dated than advertised, room was disgusting, hair in both bed and bathroom, visible dirt on floors, kitchen, walls, behind the bed and in all the draws, window was broken and falling off it rail and couldn’t be closed, staff were extremely rude and unhelpful, refused to reserve as parking over the phone a few days before our stay due to it being their policy and at check in was told they were reserved for other guests checking in and to ask again in the morning as they can’t reserve parking for us.. only to continuously be told parking was unavailable due to being reserved for guests checking in later

Room was disgusting! Mouldy carpet with obvious water damage skirtings and ceiling even the carpet were all dirty, furniture very old and worn, pool wasn’t up and running, pigeon poop all over the deck and balustrade, I paid for parking only to have my paid car park taken on my first outing. Staff gave me one night free parking due to my complaints about the room but overall I’m pretty disgusted that I prepaid over $250 per night for a room that disgusting and they couldn’t give me refund because I booked through booking.com!! Disappointing disgusting just don’t waste your money!

A fine place to stay if you don’t mind wasting money on subpar services

The cleaner was lovely and awesome, the female staff were delightful in general, but two younger men were very rude and condescending the day that I arrived

The gym, the misleading advertising, small details around the room to be improved upon, overall I had an okay stay, had pigeons coming into my room frequently and the deck was covered in their droppings.

Wonderful.

Everything was smooth. Although staff was short the service was still amazing and nothing went wrong at the reception. The room exceeded my expectations I was honestly surprised by all the extra things included (a standing fan, kettle, toaster, cups, bowls, plates, cutlery, towels, hand towels, body wash, makeup remover wipes, a chair on the deck. It was a beautiful stay and I enjoyed every second of it !! Could easily go out and enjoy a fun night using our tag to scan in and out without the hassle of being locked in or out. I will be back again next time I book 100%.

Great Value for Money with Unexpected Bonuses

The location was great, walking distance to Queen St and central city. I was also impressed with the facilities. We had a twin room (with twin queen beds which was amazing!) and the little kitchenette had a double hob for cooking and even a washing machine/dryer in the cupboard. Would come back to stay with my family. Also loved the view of the sky tower from our room!

A little wear and tear (like the kick boards in the bathroom) but that's to be expected with an older building so it didn't worry us.

Disappointing - hotel desperately needs repair and attention to detail.

Friendly and helpful staff. Great pool and spa pool facilities especially for kids.

This hotel was sadly disappointing as the room felt very dated and the bathroom desperately in need of repair and maintenance. Grout in bathroom fully gone and grout lines all brown and black. Made it feel very dirty. No attention to detail - soap dispenser was completely empty and not enough towels provided for a family of four. Beds were comfy but pillows were awful. No small milk provided to make a cup of tea which is standard generally in other hotels we've stayed in. Noticeable stains on wall behind bedhead that should have been cleaned off. One real off putting thing was that the hard wired wifi box was on the wall directly beside the bedhead about ten cms away from your head. Absolutely no view from our room just down on another building's roof. We will not rebook again.

Lovely, comfortable stay

Open plan room, the little balcony looking out into the city, the spa bath. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The room does need some maintenance, but it was clean. The bed is comfortable.

The car park space I was allocated was not easy to access and not really a park, right on the edge of the ramp bottom.
