Not sure how many times I have stayed here over the past year but it must be okay as I kept going back! The good points include its location, room size, comfortable bed and excellent value.
7.0 / 10.0
The room was modern and spacious, I really appreciated how the bathroom was the room furthest from the bedroom, as this often not the case. I was also very grateful for the 24hr reception, as I arrived late and left very early.
As the television was in the lounge, this meant having to sit on dining chairs in order to be able to relax and unwind after dinner, which was a little unfortunate though not a deal-breaker. Also, a small thing, a spare blanket would have been nice, as there was no topper on the bed in which to use while we were unwinding in the lounge/dining area.

Room was good. Clean and modern
Went down for breakfast at 9.40am. Advertised was a full menu but was told only had a buffet available and it was closing in 5 minutes. The advertised time was 10am. We left the hotel.

Huge room, great value for money, short walk into the centre.

Room was clean and tidy, reasonably priced and easy to find. Room was comfortable and bathroom shower was perfect. Staff were good and breakfast included some hot food and a good selection of cereals, fruit etc
Had to park on the road until checked in to get access to parking, it had rained all day and there were puddles in the parking areas

It was a simple check in and the staff member at the front desk was nice.
The bathroom was filthy, there was a thick layer of soap scum on the shower screens and the stone in the shower grey with muck except a high traffic area round the drain. I understand it wasnt an expensive stay but finding other peoples hair in the shower left me feeling dirtier than before the shower.

Good facilities and reasonably priced. Probably just getting a little date but was still very clean and comfortable.
Please provide additional pillows :-)

Location was perfect with the city bus on the doorstep.
We planned to cook a some pasta but didn’t have a pan. Reception seemed non committal at helping locate one. When one did arrive it was tiny. Although there is washing up liquid, there was no cloth to wash dishes with. If there’s one thing that really irks me, its booking a double bed and getting two singles squashed together with a big lump in the middle. 3 pillows on a the bed didn’t make sense. The bed was incredibly soft with badly fitting sheets which ended up everywhere by morning. Cheaper to book the car park when you get there as it’s $5 cheaper per night. All in all an ok place. If you’re after budget with a good location, this is the place.

I almost always stay here when in Auckland because it is in a good location, the rooms are a good size, the beds are comfortable and the price is normally very good.
No complaints

The location is very good for food options and getting around the city. The apartment comes with a bedroom and lounge area which I really like. The full kitchen and utensils is a great addition when staying in the city.
Parking is not free there is an additional cost and there is no guarantee you will get one so I would advise you book ahead of your stay if parking is required.

It was close to everything yet a nice place to relax.
I enjoyed my stay just noticed a mug in the cupboard needs a thorough wash or something.

Great to have a central city location with a peaceful room. There was a city view out the window, but we could also see Myers Park. A dishwasher was definitely an added bonus. Onsite parking was very convenient. I asked to leave the car earlier than check-in and was told that it was fine to check in early (don't expect this but it worked well for us).
Only three pillows on a double bed and those were so soft that they offered no support.

The VR is a great place to stay if you are engaging with anything happening on Karangahape Road, Queen Street, or the CBD generally. The room we had was spacious, with a kitchenette. Easy to get to, and the staff were helpful with unprompted suggestions.
The glasses in the cupboard were dirty, which makes you question the cleanliness of other things in the room. Also, the bed was REALLY soft for a hotel bed. Linens appeared clean and were tidy, though. I couldn't get my wifi to stay connected.

Location, cleanliness
Last few visits bedside lights never work.
Price has increased by approx 80.00 for accommodation and car park, since we stayed 2 months ago.

Perfect location, spacious rooms with a small kitchen, and everything you need for a comfortable stay. The property is clean, quiet, and very convenient for getting around. Definitely recommended.

Room was a good size, bed comfortable.
Breakfast was good value when included in the booking rate. Plenty of it.
Parking included under the building.. was a bit difficult to get out of.
Lots of dining options in Queen Street nearby.
It was a long walk to the waterfront. Uphill on the way back.
I needed the exercise. If you have a bus pass, many buses stop along Queen Street.

All up, really good experience. I just think the male Receptionist could have been more friendly and personable. A little more interested, helpful and open to questions. The female receptionists were nice and fairly helpful. If I had been told how long the breakfast the next morn is available and if there was other food to order, that would have been helpful for me too. Just a bit more information made available.
As above

Cleaning service is good
Bathrooms are good but when stay for longer periods, cleaning of the toilets are not being done at least 2-3 days frequency, but only changing the used linen.

Location proved convenient to conference activities and central to most other activities I needed.
I couldn't find an iron in my room. I didn't have time to read the central information to find if a central resource room was evident.

Good sized, comfortable room. Clean, modern-looking bathroom and good pressure in the shower. Very good location and not expensive.
It was all pretty good.

Two bedroom apartment for 2 professionals who have attended many conferences. Good space, great bedrooms and beds, not luxurious but entirely comfortable, good value, restaurant on site and fully serviced. Very impressed. Good location with amenities close by including 24/7 store.
The bedside lights were missing bulbs and the USB charging by the bed didn't work, no big deal. A dish brush and rack would be nice.

We had an oven which can be nice to cook stuff. Most room only have a microwave and oven rings but bring your own tray and oven mitts. Location isn't perfect but not bad, it depends if you rely on the public bus system coming from the airport.
We met some unfriendly staff there. I think it's an Auckland thing because it was similar to our other hotel there. They absolutely did not represent the human experience we had everywhere else in NZ. Very small bathroom in our room. Breakfast was out of stock around 45 minutes before it ended and they only refilled bread and eggs.

Room is clean and good for my needs. I travel to Auckland a lot for work and have tried a bunch of different places but i have decided to stay here a number of times. It isn't fancy or as stylish as other places but there are range of factors that make it a good choice for me:
Spotless bathroom with no signs or mould or decay.
Powerful shower that get very hot (if you want it to)
Apps on TV so watching netflix and YouTube is easy
Easy to control heating/fan
All the in-room amenities required - nothing fancy but everything is there
Good value for money
Ok location
Clean and although not modern, nothing is old or tired.
Comfy bed and range of pillow sizes available including soft low profile pillows
Room-service available if i'm stuck working in my room in the evening
For this reason i pick this property over others when staying in Auckland for work.
There was a slight stale smell in my room last time

Easy access, good location. Friendly staff and coming back to fresh clean room was nice.
Room service didn’t work, card didn’t work to let me back inside one night.

The facility will be more attractive if the shower nozzle is with a hose, not fixed to the wall.

I loved how close it was to town. Could literally walk down to our concert which was amazing.
The room was quite small, it was so fine for the night but wouldn’t want to stay any longer if we were in that room.
10.0 / 10.0
The price was insanely good. $45 USD is just a small step above hostel prices but you get a whole apartment with a kitchen and living room / social area, and sizable separate bedroom and bathroom. I don't know if the reception/check in is 24 hours but they were there when I got in at like 11 pm. Also there's on site parking, but it costs $30 NZD or about $17 USD (it's on the side of the building underground). Area was also walking distance to some restaurants and convenience stores. The furniture and appliances one can tell are a little old, but what do you expect for the price (you can't have everything while paying super budget rates). but everything was immaculately clean. I'm a simple dude and this was probably the best bang for my buck of all the budget hotels/motels I stayed in while traveling the North Island of NZ.
I can't even say that I disliked this one thing because it is sort of implicit in the price, but if there's anything to knock one could say the furniture / appliances looked old, but even saying this is really reaching because everything was immaculately clean and you can't get the world on a backpacker budget.

The location was good for what we needed.
The two room suite was not ideal for a group of friends. The bathroom was awkwardly located between the two rooms, with one side having a glass partition. While not completely see-through, it did reveal silhouettes, which felt uncomfortable. There was also an unpleasant smell that came up through the bathroom drain.
Throughout our stay, we frequently noticed strong fish-like cooking smells when entering and exiting the hotel, using the lift, and even on our floor. At times, it was so overpowering that both we and another group found ourselves gagging in the lift.
The layout of the suite made it feel quite dark, as the living area was in the middle with no windows. There was also no proper couch, only a few large chairs that were not very comfortable.
On the positive side, the beds were comfortable, but unfortunately the pillows were very poor quality.
