Unfortunately our expectations were raised by the website . The bedroom was initially cold, the lounge wasn’t available ( understandable not to heat it in the winter but again the website was not honest in my view)

Inviting, character hotel in a great location.

The staff were very friendly and helpful from reception to breakfast. The hotel itself was refurbed a couple of years ago and is much better for it - the rooms are contemporary and comfortable with coffe machine etc and bright, clean bathrooms. However, as it’s such an old building expect lots of creaks and bumps! The breakfast room is large and airy and the self service breakfast was really tasty with plenty of choice.

We’ve visited a couple of times recently and whist they offer on-site parking this is in great demand in peak times! Public parking is limited so you could be left driving around aimlessly.

Location was excellent. Room was clean and comfy beds.

The breakfast was unorganised. People stood around waiting for clean plates and food coming out of the kitchens. This happened on both mornings. Also was stood a long time waiting for somebody to come and refill the coffee machine. Was told when we went to use the spa facilities there was no towels. After spa receptionist went looking for one, we was told that myself and partner would have to share one. Wasn't acceptable when we had both paid a day pass each.

Lovely building - nice rooms and great breakfast

We arrived late and we were looking forward to room service in our room after a long journey. We were told there was no room service and kitchen closed - not even a sandwich was possible. We went to bed hungry!!

Very clean and helpful staff who gave clear information

I wasn’t allowed to access the online app as I’d booked 2 rooms and had no options presented to me. Links in emails also didn’t work. The £50/room deposit came as a surprise it hasn’t been charged (we didn’t buy anything though)., We arrived approx. 8.00pm on Friday night and found it almost impossible to park. We were visiting friends so was ok when we got back.

Lovely hotel

The room was beautifully presented and cosy, the staff were really helpful, and breakfast was included, with lots of options. The location in Bowness is excellent, and we had a really great time staying at the Ro.

The only negative is that the heating made quite a loud ticking noise for about half an hour in the middle of the night, and we had to try turning the fan off, so that kept us up for a little bit.

Room was pleasant and as expected. No issues. Location was great. Very close to many restaurants and shops. Bar was nice.

Spa was disappointing. As you had to pay an additional £25 per couple I expected it to be impressive. Changing rooms smelt of drains, pool ok, cold jacuzzi, no steam/ sauna. Parking was difficult and lacked any organisation. Flickering lights outside our room was unpleasant. Breakfast ok but nothing amazing.

Nice post Xmas breakaway

Nice hotel in a great location. A little dated in parts but that didn’t matter to us. Nice room albeit a little chilly so the plug in heater was a handy addition. Beds clean & comfy shower was nice & hot. My only niggle was the bar. The guys behind the bar didn’t seem to know what was going on & it’s was pretty much under stocked. No blackcurrant or lime cordial no Baileys ..what bar doesn’t have Baileys?car park was rammed full, cars parked at every angle. We parked at a nearby public car park.£20 for the weekend.

Car park could be better organised with marked parking bays. Bar staff need training The hotel is situated up a steep hill, not an issue for most but for less mobile it possibly would be

Let down by the reception staff.

Comfortable bed and pool was lovely.

The reception staff were brittle and unhelpful. We were given the wrong room and told there was nothing else but we had already paid. Treated like second class guests due to having booked through booking.com.

The location, room was very clean , bath was very enjoyable

Couldn't connect the TV to WiFi, couldn't cast to the TV as the settings did not work, but of a problem with heating, it was noisy and took a while to switch off.. Bit disappointed considering our room fee was £184.

Lovely stay, perfect location, great hotel, brilliant weekend!

Lovely hotel, well decorated and equipped, the room was lovely and big with a great view and a balcony to sit on. Very close to Bowness town and brilliant to just walk to all the shops, restaurants and bars. Breakfast was exceptionally good, staff were great and all very friendly. Would return in a heartbeat, just a couple of small things that frustrated us otherwise The Ro provided a perfect stay for our stay.

When you spend nearly £500 for 2 nights stay, having to pay to park your car on the hotel grounds is a big of a micky take, it should be free, simple as that!! The restaurant in the evening changed the menu to what we had viewed at the time of booking so we turned up and then the menu wasn’t what we had looked at online, which I thinks poor, keep your website up to date, or don’t advertise your menu full stop, either way, we walked out as there was nothing we fancied and went into Bowness itself. I think the Spa is a nice touch, but the pool use is a bit pointless, they charge £25 per couple, the pool had a strange smell to it that a few other guests using it mentioned and could smell also (smelt like drains and like grilled cheese) which wasn’t very nice, a very small hot tub, and 2 lounges around it, plus 2 chairs and a bench at the other end, then the relaxation room had 3 loungers! Just wasn’t really big enough for the amount of people in during our time slot (at least 12-14 people) at one point, so we ended up having a swim, using the jacuzzi and then getting out as there was nowhere to sit, but if a waste of time when wed paid to use it for 2 hours and probably only actually spent 40 minutes in there max! Despite these 2 or 3 little niggles, we would still return in a heartbeat and had an amazing weekend away stopping at The RO, would highly recommend it.

location is great and for Bowness, the car-park is good value. Hotel is OK but the bar area is too small for the size of hotel when there is some kind of event on.

Great girls family weekend

Great location for Bowness, where there are plenty restaurants bars and shops within walking distance (up a steep hill though) Staff were welcoming. Lovely breakfast Rooms were very clean and modern. The beds were very comfortable Waiters and bar staff were very friendly and helpful.

There was a £7.50 per night charge for the carpark, and a charge to use the spa facilities, which I was aware of until after booking.

Perfect weekend stay

Location in Bowness is excellent and very close to the lake. There is a steep hill on approach which may be a problem for the less mobile. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice of food on offer. Our bedroom was spotless .Warm and very comfortable, lovely bedding. Bathroom had a good shower and big fluffy towels. The mirror was set a little high maybe and no light above for doing makeup. Staff were friendly and helpful.
