Nice room, nice to see biscuits, fruit with tea, coffee. Comfy bed and despite facing the road was quiet.
Some bits do show the wear and tear

The staff were excellent. Really helpful. Great location.
Well, the sockets in the room were pretty crooked. Almost coming out the wall. The taps in the bathroom were the wrong way round.
We couldn't get into the breakfast room for our alloted time so the receptionist kindly brought a breakfast to our room. However, it was am hour late and missing ingredients.
We could also hear other guests chatting during all hours.
We were given extra time to check out on Sunday and 10% off our stay.
There was a huge amount of dust on top of our wardrobe.

Great location. Rooms with high ceilings, period features, high sash windows.
Secure off road parking at rear of hotel. Parking duration could be extended for an additional fee.
Comfortable beds.
Steep, narrow staircase, especially when carrying suitcases from the hotel car park.
Torn, discoloured carpet in room.
Stained and damaged sink and toilet.
Dirty tea/coffee mugs in room.

It was fairly quiet with the window shut so good in winter, not so sure in summer. Very close to everything. A hike up the hill if you're walking from town. Food shops all around. Breakfast was the highlight. Fully cooked! Also real cafetiere coffee in room too was a great extra.
The bed was incredibly soft. Shared toilet across hall.

The receptionists are really friendly, especially Daniel who helped us carrying luggages from our car to top floor. The location is great, very close to the university, shops and restaurants.
Breakfast could have been better.

A great little hotel in Clifton. Breakfast is generous buffet and hot available and served with a smile. Staff are very nice and helpful. Room a bit compact but fine. Very comfortable bed. Very clean. Bathroom a bit outdated but ok. Replace towels and coffee and tea sachets willingly upon request. We will be back again soon.
Pay extra for parking but far less than central hotels.

Room was fine but did not look like photos.
The lack of a proper breakfast as advertised. We were told there were no chefs. The breakfast was less than basic and very disappointing. The bread on offer was the most basic bread - like cardboard. The ham was cheap processed ham with hardly any cheese on offer. Yogurt was not good quality.

good location, rooms were comfortable . good selection of tea /coffee and fruit in room.
shower in bath was very low, water was scalding and hard to control with bath taps. however probably better than no hot water. breakfast as a little chaotic although the young staff were very friendly and attentive. it seems that the kitchen staff could benefit from a review of their process to make it more efficient when the dining room is full.

Situated in a great location away from traffic but near shops etc. breakfast was included, room was a good size for a budget hotel.
Room door/walls are thin so it's easy to hear noise from corridor.

The friendly staff and good English breakfast (breakfast room was heated)
The bedroom was very cold with no possibility to turn on the radiator. The temperature outside was close to freezing and it was impossible to feel comfortable in the room without wearing a coat. Another guest, who experienced the same problem, informed me the heating was apparently on a timer for only 2 hours in the morning (6-8) and 2 hours in the evening (18-20). In addition, there was a very cold draught through the window, which didn't close properly. The night porter was apologetic and said I could use extra blankets on the bed, as the electric portable heater was already being used by another guest.
I have seen that in the reviews other guests have been complaining about the lack of heating for the past 2 months with apparently no action being taken. This is really not acceptable for a hotel..

Decent value for money, comfortable and the receptionist that checked me in was very friendly
I booked a slot at breakfast at 9am, as it is only served until 9am on weekdays. However, when I went down there, all the tables were full, and none of the diners were nearing finishing up. No table was reserved for me. As a result, I could not have breakfast and had to buy breakfast elsewhere, needlessly spending more money in the middle of a cost-of-living crisis.
I explained this to the receptionist (whoever was working around 09:30 on the morning of 16th October) when I checked out and politely asked to be refunded ÂŁ10. She said they can offer ÂŁ6 refund for the breakfast that would be released at some point that day, but she seemed disinterested and was probably trying to just get rid of me (even though I was not being rude), as it has been a few days now and there is no sign of the refund! I'll improve the review score if I get this refund.
Additionally, the reception is only open until 10pm, and guests need to use their room keys to enter the hotel if coming back late. However, these doors were unlocked when I arrived back (around 11pm) and nobody was around. It was likely a guest that did this, but is very concerning for security.

Location good, rooms small but ok although no.hot water from our shower when both hot and cold taps on together.
Hotel wasnt accessible for older people, lots of steep steps, tough for my 80 year old mother. Breakfast was awful, servers were disorganised, crockery all mismatched, little cereal, juice, bread available and cooked breakfast very mediocre. Breakfast room looked dirty and halls needed a hoover.

It was in a good location
Room was cold at night as they hadn’t switched the heating on and it was only 8 degrees outside.
Also there was no mat in the bath when taking a shower so surface was slippy.

Location great. Clifton is one of the best areas of Bristol to stay in. Clifton village a few minutes walk away. Also walking distance to museums and Park Street shops. Town centre and harbourside a twenty minute walk or quick bus/taxi ride. Durdham Downs also worth exploring for those who like walking.
Staff friendly and helpful.
The traditional English and Vegetarian Breakfasts were nice, if a little small. Only one sausage and one hash brown each. But plenty of toast, cereal, available. Genrous sized pots of tea, too.
Twin room clean, but facilities a little poor. Tea, coffee, biscuits provided, no teaspoon. The building has character, but old-style sash windows are not noise-proofed, and the hotel is on a busy road. Also, no heating on and beginning to get chilly!

Location
Bed was horrendous, too soft it hurt my back and the bed springs were sticking out down the entire middle of the bed, so we unable to sleep close to each other. Bathroom was grim, floor needed a good clean and was lifting in places, grouting needs re doing and the piping system is shocking. Every time you flushed the toilet or used the tap the noise was so loud we thought the tank was going explode!
