Quaint hotel on the outskirts of Zurich

The location was convenient for using the trams. The standard double room was small but perfectly adequate and spotlessly clean.

The breakfast staff were not very friendly. The breakfast itself was good.

“Peaceful Stay, but Disappointing Room Setup and Breakfast”

I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the cleanliness at Engimatt City & Garden Hotel — both were truly excellent.

But a few things really took away from the experience: the breakfast was extremely basic for a hotel in this category, the work desk in the room didn’t even have a chair, and the TV was strangely installed facing the bathroom instead of the bed. These details made the stay feel less comfortable than it should have been.

Nice little hotel in Zürich, good location and service nice overall.

Nice hotel which we rented as we wanted a hotel in that area. Staff was helpful and nice and overall the experience was good. Nice view. We were also close to the shopping center of Sihlcity which was also very nice.

Extra beds for the kids could have been a bit better, but it did not bother them too much for a short 1 night stay.

A nice hotel in a nice neighborhood not very far from the city centre.

The exterior of the Engimatt City and Garden Hotel might be a bit underwhelming. The hotel’s interior, however, is much better and it is that of a four-star hotel. It is located in a residential area. The access to public transport is easy. You have to walk about 200m to get to a tram stop if you want to visit the city centre. If you return from the city centre the distance becomes just 50m. If you are interested in shopping there are some good shops in the area at walking distance. The breakfast was honest but a bit repetitive. The coffee was good though. The room was clean. I think that the hotel’s greatest asset is its staff. They were professional, polite and helpful,

with one exception though: The employee who served us coffee at breakfast during the weekend. On Saturday I noticed she had a certain attitude, one that I was willing to ignore. On Sunday, however, she did something that really annoyed me. She made us coffee, then she put our coffee cups on a tray and instead of bringing us the coffee directly to our table she thought it was a good idea to collect the used coffee cups from other tables first, using the same tray while our coffee cups were still on that tray. It wasn’t more convenient for her and it is totally unhygienic in my opinion. Another thing I did not like is the lack of proper sound insulation. While I was in the room I could hear what was going on in the room above mine. It was not a big deal since the occupants were families with small children that were out, apparently, most of the day and they went to bed early. And while I did not visit Zurich to watch TV, the TV set in my room definitely belongs to a museum. Also, the view from my room was basically that of a crane but I didn't care much about it either, to be honest. Last but not least, the hotel's restaurant and bar were closed during weekend and I don’t think that was mentioned anywhere.

Clean, spacious, great location. We took a family room with 3 beds and they added a cot to accommodate 4 of us. Unexpected in EU to have this kind of spacious room. Great location, just a 2 min walk to the tram station and very well connected with city. A great gym just a block away, for which hotel gives the access. Tennis court to have active day. A great park near by

Good location, large room with a nice balcony. The room was spotless and the coffee machine and free water were a nice touch. The staff was very professional and kind.

The breakfast is hugely overpriced and not everything was included (10 CHF extra for an omelette). The quality of the food is good but there is not a big choice, specially for the price.

Reception staff is awful! Very unpleasant!

Location is good, next to SihlCity.

Very disappointed in Engimatt hotel. These few days outside temperature during the night was close to 0 and the hotel didn't have any heating. We called them several times in the evening, nobody responded. When to the reception to ask them to fix the heating, they said ok and never showed up. Went again and then after some time they brought a small heater. Next day at the reception they said: "It's May, heating is off". Well, it's cold outside and the rest of Zurich has heating and you don't. It's a 4 star hotel, you expect them to have air condition that can heat up the room to 24 degrees at least. No, they said the best they can do is to bring a small heating device which was not sufficient. Never again in this hotel, you should avoid it.

Near to city center

The two staff working in breakfast room (6th april) were so rude ( I may also believe that they behave like a racist). We were warned to eat quick and to be quite with two kids. They said there will be branch time so eat and leave. That is a hotel breakfast room. Not a school or church. We are with two children. We did not make any noise. Customers and booking.com have to know the racist behaviour of this two woman. Before booking this hotel, I read bad feedbacks regarding this hotel breakfast staff but does not expected this kind of bad. The Enginatt Garden manager should ask to me for details or check cameras for those staffs threatens.
