Great find

Great location and had a wonderful room with views of the canal. A short walk to the city. Staff lovely and breakfast was good value, well cooked and had a great selection.

Bed was a bit too soft for me. But that's personal preference only

I was placed in an accessible room (not sure why) so shower situation was a bit strange We had no sanitary bin in the bathroom - not great for women guests Not enough towels in our room I think given it is a spa hotel would be nice to have access to a robe and slippers rather than needing to use the external guest lock up situation

Cool but could’ve been better

The location was great, facilities were good, breakfast was also decent

The miscommunication from the reception staff. Apparently extremely strict ‘rules’ about early check-ins and late check-outs. The prices they quoted us for such extras also happened to be different from the prices I saw here or on the hotel’s website. Even with booking genius rewards there was no complimentary check out or check extensions possible without paying. The leisure club and the sauna spa areas could’ve been cleaner than they were, or better maintained

Staff were friendly and helpful. The attached bar/restaurant was excellent. The pizzas are a must 👌 rooms were clean and modern too.

Check i was a little chaotic. They don't seem to let anyone check in early so the linewas out the door at 3pm. There must be a system where you can check in, but the room key won't allow access until 3pm .... it took 30 mins to get checked in and we got in the line fast.

Lovely stay in the refurbished rooms, but the swimming pool area lets this hotel down.

The property was in a great location for us, and has lovely views of the canal. The room was to a lovely stand and you could tell it had been newly refurbished. Beautiful shower and bathroom to completely the luxury and newness of the room.

Unfortunately the swimming pool and changing room facilities let this hotel down. The pool is groggy and old, with only 4 seats around the pool and dim lights. The changing rooms were dirty with blood in the sink and floor, and hair balls everywhere. You could tell this area isn’t monitored and is very tired and old, if these areas where improved and looked after thus hotel would be a real gem!

Really surprised by the fitness centre- usually hotel fitness centres are a handful of dumbbells and a bench but this is like a proper gym with great equipment. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Easy to park and find hotel, and it was quiet so I had a great night's sleep. Handy to have a fridge in the room as well.

Nothing really. Would definitely stay again. If I had to be super-picky, the gym felt really hot, like a sauna, but I live in the north of Scotland so I'm not used to heat!

Clean hotel, quiet area with easy parking.Very smiley staff who are polite and helpful if you need anything. Pool is warm and clean as are the changing facilities. Although remember to bring a pound for the lockers.

Dissapointing breakfast with not coffee available when i stayed as they had run out of pods. Not a lot of restaurant options near by. No jacuzzi in the leisure center and the Spa bookings system is difficult to locate online.I did book a massage but discovered I'd been double booked. Unfortunately, the phone number listed does not connect and this meant i was hanging about with no way of locating a treatment therapist to clarify if i would be seen. That said the leisure center reception were very lovely and extremely helpful. When we did find the therapist she was kind and offered a refund as soon as she was finished with the client she was with at the time.

Lovely room, great facilities, good location

Rooms are very modern with everything you need- kettle, hairdryer, ironing board, shampoo. Although we didn’t use the bar area, it looked like it had a good atmosphere.

It would’ve been better value for money if the parking was free. The spa area must be the last thing to update. It was okay- I would’ve liked some sun loungers to rest on.

The worst hotel experience ever

Avoid This Hotel at All Costs! ⭐☆☆☆☆ My recent stay at this hotel was an absolute nightmare. From the moment I arrived, I felt a distinct lack of security and care for guests. It became painfully clear that the hotel has connections with the notorious thieves of Sheffield. During my visit, my vehicle was stolen right from their so-called "secure" car park, which I later discovered is managed by a third party that the hotel has no control over. If you value your car, DO NOT park here! Additionally, the hotel’s restaurant is a third-party operation, and the service is just as incompetent. The entire establishment is understaffed, overpriced, and lacks any semblance of the hospitality you would expect from a hotel. The staff seemed overwhelmed and untrained, making the experience even more frustrating. If you’re considering staying here, I urge you to look elsewhere. This hotel offers nothing but a false sense of security and a lack of basic amenities. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place!

Breakfast was as good as can be when included with the booking, evening meal at the on site restaurant was great and the menu/drinks were great. Location was as expected. Facilities were excellent.

It was very cold in most of the building . I find breakfast time to be very unorganised with a lot of items missing ( cutlery ) and the breakfast was cold even when off the hot plate .

We wanted to use the pool, sauna facilities but when we went to them it felt a little uncomfortable as it was full of males who were speaking very loud and talking about sorting people out. Not a nice experience at all.

The room was comfortable but poorly lit. Our shower in our first room was broken.It was noisy as we were above the function room and had not been informed of this on arrival. The breakfast was inadequate and not all items were available as listed on the menu. There was no food available one night as the Chef had walked out.

Sandman Hotel

The bed was incredibly comfortable and the view was lovely overlooking the barges. The service was excellent especially the gentleman who was so helpful over the phone and was very kind, professional and gave my daughter grandson and myself excellent rooms with a lovely peacefu view.

I was a little cold on entering the room as the heating was not on . Needed to switch it on but it would switch off after a while. I think a complimentary bottle of water would be a thought ..I also think the towels and bedding need a little upgrade as they look a bit shabby and off white.

Good quality breakfast but it was not warm enough and the plates not warm enough Also usually a choice of fried or scrambled eggs is available

The bedrooms have been refurbished with no ceiling light in three main part of the room. The light levels were too low here, especially as the bedside lights did not radiate light into the room.

The room was excellent very comfortable bed and good size room but the food was expensive and quality poor.

Evening menu quite limited and not worth the money - allergy options if your travelling with someone with intollerance. Breakfast was terrible. Poor quality and cooked breakfast was not refilled. There were no eggs, no orange juice, and they had run out of salt and sugar!

The receptionist could have been more welcoming/ they looked like they didn’t want to be there. The rooms are very dark and not much lighting except for the bathrooms. Upon entering our room, we noticed that one side of the floor was soaking wet. A maid accidentally entered, not realising the room was now occupied. We informed her about the wet floor, and although she called someone else to check, no action was taken to address it. Additionally, the bedsheet had a large tear, and the shower head was leaking also producing an unpleasant noise when trying to use it. There was also no bottled drinking water provided in the room. Overall, several aspects of the room and service fell short of expectations.

Room great / Spa facilities too busy with locals / Breakfast shockingly bad

We needed a hotel close to the centre of Sheffield and the location was ideal. No fault at all with the bedroom and ensuite, everything was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The added bonus of a swimming pool, sauna and steam room was very welcome.

Didn't like: 1. The pool / sauna / steam room facilities are clearly open to the public too, and both sauna and steam room were overly full of local people who spent the whole time criticizing the facilities. 2. Having paid £112 for one night we felt very strongly that charging us an additional £8 to park in their car park outside was particularly tight-fisted. We stay in a lot of city centre hotels, and this is the first one for a long time where the hotel didn't either have free parking or a method of discounting in a local car park. 3. Breakfast was an absolute shambles. We paid an additional £24 for this, and here's what we got. A row of heated metal containers. Fried eggs had clearly been there for ages and were dried up. One yolk had broken and leaked around the other eggs. Hardly any bacon left. Sausages under-cooked. One container was empty altogether, possibly once held fried tomatoes? Black pudding was stone cold. Baked beans kept hot way too long and sauce had considerably evaporated / thickened. Four young people seemed to be employed to run the breakfast, but they were stood about chatting and not checking there was still food available. One of them informed us that one of the two coffee machines wasn't working. It turned out the other one wasn't working either. We decided to complain about the breakfast when we checked out. Unfortunately there was nobody at reception, with a box to leave room keys in. I emailed our complaint to the hotel, and to his credit the Front of House Manager took time to resolve our complaint by refunding us, and also explained that the breakfast was actually run by a separate company that had only been doing so for a few weeks. He said that the service could be down to "teething troubles" although to my mind the breakfast clearly needs to be managed by someone to ensure everything is OK. 4. We paid £144 for hotel/breakfast/parking. At this price everything should be perfect.

The room and bathroom were beautiful and very decent sizes. The bed was extremely comfy and I did not want to leave it. The corridors are decent and look fresh. The gym was excellent too.

Relaxing Stay

Large room was spotless and well laid out, sofa bed was massive and already made up for My Son. Bathroom was stunning and again well laid out. The view overlooking the quayside was lovely. Complimentary access to the pool was a nice treat for My Son and I. Food was good, ordered pizza via room service and that was delicious. Breakfast was of a good standard. Staff were friendly and helpful, particularly Daša on reception who gave Us a warm welcome on arrival. Overall a lovely stay, everything You want in a hotel.

At £130 excluding breakfast it was a little pricier than some of it's contemporaries, however given what a nice stay it was I feel little cause to complain.

Everything was excellent. Staff were brilliant and well presented. Nice view of the docks and narrow boats. Rooms were new and very clean. King bed was big and comfortable. Would definitely go again.
