Sucks

The location

The lady from the reception at night time was not helpful or pleasant at all, we barely got any information about the place or anything that was ask. The housekeeping sucks, not leaving clean towels and at one time they left their cleaning supplies in the room . The bar at night takes forever to get someone to get the order for food, she didn’t even know what was the soup of the day. I will never referred anyone to this place .

Awful service specially at night , the receptionist at the front desk was not helpful at all. Housekeeping didn’t leave clean towels in the room and even left their cleaning supplies cleaning supplies in the middle of the room , Never again will be referring anyone one to stay there .

Dreadful night, overpriced rooms

Location was good

Very small room. Loud music from an event until midnight made it impossible to sleep. Volume not reduced despite request.i would have cancelled the booking had we been notified of the party. Electricity went off several times overnight making the room hot and stuffy. Watermarks on the ceiling from leaks

Wet room out of use. Function on until midnight, only notification was on the day of arrival .And on the morning of leaving a power cut when trying to get ready and breakfast.

Location

Rooms are tired and are need of refurbishment. Stains all over the carpet, beds uncomfortable, hair in bath and food in the fridge that was there from prior guests. As we were only staying here for just one night we made do but in the evening I did mention these issues to staff however I almost seemed like an inconvenience for pointing out these issues to them and they were not at all interested. No apology or sympathy shown. Such a shame because this hotel has the potential to be great.

Great location next to the winter garden. City centre. Friendly staff. Hotel was quiet at night, so good nights sleep.

Room was clean, but think the carpet edges needed a hoover, found toe nail clippings near the skirting boards.

Everything was great EXCEPT we booked a late check out for 3pm but then on check out day we got an alarming message from the hotel talking about theft from our room. We rushed back and were told it was an automated message and the hotel had not received the information about late check out. This was odd since I’d received a confirmation and also had several texts from the hotel about it. Anyway, it was a horrible end to our stay and spoiled our experience on our last afternoon.

Quiet room and comfortable bed

Stains on carpet in bedroom Public area by reception was littered with empty bottles, toys, glasses and remnants of food from an event the night before. This was 11am on sunday and should have been cleaned away by that time. Shocking first impression.

It felt spacious. Nothing else was appealing.

Our room was disgusting. It was dated, cold, uncomfortable bed. The drains stunk when we turned the taps on. I was really unhappy. I couldn’t wait to leave in the morning.

The location was really handy.

The bed was extremely uncomfortable and dipped in the mattress. Housekeeping clearly came in the room but didn't replace the towels, didn't replay tea bags or suger and left bins without bags. When I went looking for sugar n got told off telling me I had to ask without getting any for me... Food service was not great, waiting over an hour and 20 minute for food and when arriving was not of appropriate or consistent standard.

Breakfast was standard but not great value for an additional £14. Prepared early and left sitting for hours.

For the limited number of guests having breakfast, they should be preparing meals to order instead of leaving food sitting for hours in the morning.

Comfortable and center of Sheffield - very convenient.

Comfortable bed, nice big bathroom

The furniture is a bit worn, there are damp bubbles on the wall, the cupboard is too low for hanging dresses, and the fridge didn't seem to cool properly. I would also say that people in front of the house need to be more friendly and knowledgeable. I have travelled all over the world in various hotels/motels, and no matter what star hotel one stays in, attitude (especially toward those who are visiting) is everything - a smile, a warm welcome, and more. This is my first time staying at the Sheffield Novotel. I have stayed at the Sheffield Mercure and Leopold in the past, and they offer much better front-of-house service. All these things are easily sorted and make a big difference in whether the guest returns to the hotel in the future.

The fact that there was an old pair of trainers left in the room, We had been allocated a disabled room, There was no milk with the tea and coffee supplied. When I addressed these issues with the reception staff they said they would sort it out. On out later return nothing had been resolved.

Good central location but hotel rooms feel tired and quite low rent for the money.

Check-in process was simple and quick, good parking options close by in case no space in hotel spaces. Room felt very tired and long overdue renovation.

I had a late check in because the room wasn't ready (40 minutes late) which cut into my getting ready time for a wedding I was meant to be at. It resulted in me being late. The receptionist did manage to find me another room but only when I went back a third time to check about when I could enter my room. He did also sort me a free drink at the bar whilst I waited. The bed wasn't comfy (mattress and pillows quite hard) and neighbours were loud which I could hear in my room which also disturbed my sleep. The bathroom wasn't that clean either.

Location

Staff were quite dismissive, all looked fed up as if doing a favour by being there. Rooms was clean but very tired. Scratches in woodwork and stains on carpet. Bathroom very old and could do with an update. Terrible noise around room. Doors slamming, women screeching, couples arguing and a dog barking until early hours. Noise from 5am with barriers Bering situated and marathon set up. Told not much they could do about it! Disappointing throughout.

Nice pool, but that is it!

The hotel is very well located, and the pool was just fantastic. Make sure you book ahead, just in case it gets full. You can book 1h slot a day. Breakfast was also nice.

Our room was extremely small and uncomfortable for 4. It was not well catered for in terms of mugs, pillows, etc on top of a very flimsy sofa bed. We had to request staff several times to have extra pillows and mugs, and also to clean the room. I am unsure how good value for money the hotel is, so I do not think we would come back, neither recommend to anyone.

Disappointing

The location is central. We have been staying here for years, on and off, It works for us when we want to catch up with our family that live in Sheffield.

It all feels a bit tired and unloved. Despite being told what was available via reception - on a card in the room i.e. shaving kit / laundry bag when we aked we were told that there was a charge for one (the shaving kit) and the other was not available. The breakfast was dreadful. Really not good value for money. Breakfast at the hotel has always been an enjoyable feature of our stay in the past.
