We had the best experience staying here. The check-in process, although self check-in, was very easy. The on-site staff were very friendly and helpful. I had questions and they were very responsive. This is located in a very quaint central location, close to shopping and the Train station. I cannot recommend this place enough and we will be back!

Nice hotel but some downsides

Nice hotel, quite easy to find.

Checking-in process was tricky but I called reception and it was sorted out quickly. Room was hot and no air-con, unfortunately our room was located at the back of the property and there was a very noisy bar right outside with live music (it was a Friday night). Also no breakfast option.

Location and the balcony is actually usable

This hotel’s greatest asset is also its liability- being downtown next to a church you will hear outside noises and church bells- but you would get this with any downtown European hotel.

WAY over priced for a room with No AC. We got no sleep because it was so hot. A fan was provided, but it just circulated hot air. The window only opened a few inches and air flow was impeded by a plexiglass barrier. No in room coffee - just tea bags with no sugar or cream.

This hotel felt more like a youth hostel than a hotel but was priced like a hotel.

Good location

I reserved three rooms for two nights for my family. We never saw a staff person during our stay. The rooms were very spartan. The bed linen was soiled and there was only one towel in a two person room. There was no air conditioning which required the window to be left open because the temperatures were in the 80s. Unfortunately, there was an extremely loud bar outside the window which kept us awake past 2:00 pm. At 6:00 am, cannons went off and construction workers dropped pallets and started hammering. The loud noises made it impossible to sleep.

Fabulous location, neighborhood and proximity to the sights on the river in Luzern. Bed was comfortable and the pillows were as good as I have ever had in any hotel.

Not having a front desk or any staff on site was a new experience for me and felt more like an AirBnB. It worked out okay. One issue was that we were a party of 4 yet we only had 3 bath towels and 3 pillows in the room. With no staff on site … we just had to accept that limitation. The other challenge was that we were there when it was hot! Around 30 degrees each day and the room was awfully hot. Without AC and only one window that only cracks open about 15cm, and directly faces the sun. We were left laying on the bed sweating at night. That made the stay quite miserable and overarched any other nice factors.

Delightful.

Walking distance to everything. The quaintness of the building. The modern clean rooms. Ease of checking in and out. No tv in the room. Gives you time to just turn off from the outside world. The delicious welcome chocolate. That windows could be opened.

The cigarette smoke wafting up from the bar underneath the window. Not being able to access my visitor card. Link did not work.

Certainly enjoyed the historic ambience of this old inn, but the price was a bit steep.

Location excellent, character of the hotel very pleasing - a smart modern makeover of an inn with hundreds of years of history. Quiet square within a few metres of the riverside.

Staff were very pleasant but stretched thin...this meant waiting around at check-in and checkout for someone to turn up. I even took delivery of some smoked fish for the restaurant and found a fridge for it, because there were no staff about to take it. It's not a big deal if you are not pushed for time, but it could be a problem if you are in a hurry and have to catch a plane. Also, there's no aircon, and with temperatures in the mid-30s outside, a little cooling would have been welcome - but in such a historic building air-conditioning would probably have been impossible to fit.
