Perfect for a short stay in Luzern, especially for Fasnacht!

This hotel was so centrally located for access to the train station, the old town, great restaurants/cafes and local attractions. It was spacious and comfortable. Self check in was a novelty but worked well.

The chairs and floors could use a clean. Some coffee cups and maybe tea and coffee would go nicely with the kettle.

Perfect location

Its located right in the center, and a public parking is very close to it. nicely decorated rooms, big shower. Self-check in was easy and the restaurant downstairs is very good with nice and kind staff.

It was a bit expensive but its Switzerland so its normal i guess. And in general i dont like carpets in hotel rooms because i am not sure how clean they are. But i should mention the room was very clean and no sign of stains on the carpet.

Great location and great service!

Location is great! The bedrooms are super confortable, clean and spacious. The self-chek in process is easy. The service was great as well; we arrived before check-in time and, even though it's a self-checking hotel (no front desk assistance), they have a system for guests that need to leave their luggage - there is a bell you ring and few minutes later someone from the hotel comes and helps you with that. We followed the instructions clearly stated in the wall behind the self-check in machine and, a few minutes later, a very nice and helpful lady welcomed us and took our suitcases. When we came back to the hotel in the evening - after walking this beautiful city and having a wonderful dinner - our suitcases were in our rooms.

Great location!

Hotel Münzgasse is in a fantastic location, a short walk from the train station and very close to all the hotspots and restaurants. Room is a great size, heaps of room for all our luggage. Bed was comfortable and check in/ out was very easy and only took a few minutes.

The pillows on the bed were very uncomfortable.

We were told to "find another hotel" during our check-in

The rooms were genuinely nice—modern, clean, and spacious—and the location was excellent because it’s close to Lucerne Central Station and right beside the historic Lucerne bridge area.

We had actually booked four rooms (we didn’t realize it immediately because we were traveling through multiple countries and managing many hotel bookings for family and friends), but on check-in day we were only given three digital access codes, and since there is no normal reception and everything is done through a self-service machine, the process was confusing for a first-time user. We checked into three rooms first as per the codes given, then realized the rooms were not enough for our group, so we contacted the hotel through chat (the only way to communicate) that was around 8pm, and they told us we had a fourth room and that's the time they sent us the fourth code. During the fourth check-in, we got confused by the details being asked, the system gave an error, and the machine would not proceed or print an entry/access card. We spent more than an hour trying to resolve it with the staff through chat, but the system still wouldn’t work and we are told that there was no staff available to come to us to help, and what shocked us most was being told to “find another hotel” late at night because they could not help anymore. But in the end, after more than two hours overall, they finally sent someone in person to give us an access card. We've stayed in countless hotels many times before but it was our first time that a staff told us to look somewhere else because their system does not work, and they said they could not do anything about it.

A haven within a haven - Brilliant lights, culture, food, tradition, history, and welcoming people!

The location is an easy walk from the main train station and sits between two walking bridges spanning Lake Lucerne not more than a two-minute walk or one minute run from a quiet courtyard. The property has an entry code to open the securly locked door so no brandishing of or searching for a key is necessary. Stairs and an elevator are available. The rooms and bath are spacious. Our room looked out onto the homes nestled in around us providing a cozy atmosphere in historic architecture. Shopping from goods, gifts, treasures, cafes, restaurants, pharmacies, and entertainment are all within easy reach. The views are amazing and the Christmas Market was lively! I love, love, love, the lights on the water.

I truly cannot think of anything that was less than stellar. We were pleased, the property was clean and easily accessed, and life was good in our time spent there. Very happy and we look forward to coming again as soon as possible.

Lucerne short stay

The location was excellent. It is about a 10 min walk from the station and midway between the two covered bridges. The self check-in was very easy. The room wasn't big and it suited us for the two nights. The bed was very comfortable, and the windows opened for fresh air. There was a kettle and a fridge so I could make a cup of tea 😀

Great location and modern room, but one of the strangest hotel stays ever

Great location, just a 7-8 minute walk from the train station, pulling a heavy case and even less to the wooden bridge. Modern, spotless room.

You need to look carefully to find the entrance! Maybe helpful to show a photo like the one attached. The self-check in and out was such a soulless process for a solo traveller. There was a kettle in my room, but no cup, spoon etc, so what is the point of that? No information in the room about any thing - the bed side lights remained a mystery throughout my stay.

Luzern is a truly beautiful city and we enjoyed it very much

Great location and quiet

We were located on the 4th floor which was great, however, despite daytime temperatures of 20 degrees C and nighttime temperatures of 15deg C, the room was very hot and it was difficult to sleep Also, there were 6 usb sockets in the room but 5 were broken and with many devices to charge this was difficult. The unique Swiss electrical socket means our other adapters did not work.

Nice hotel in the middle of the old town

We got clear instructions on how to check in, so there were no problems at all. There's a small elevator in the lobby that you'd better use one guest at a time, as it is really small. Rooms are very cozy. Communication through Booking.com messages worked great, almost immediate response. Overall very positive experience.

Pillows were too thin, so we asked for two extra pillows.

Excellent location right near the centre. Area had some great bars and one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Easy check in and our room was available early so we could drop our bags and go.

Very clean and well decorated and the room was spacious and comfortable. The location is fantastic and self check-in/check-out was very easy and convenient. They also have an elevator and bag check if you arrive before your room is ready.

Perfect

The best 2 ⭐️ self check in ever. We will definitely come back. Everything was perfect, location, clean, stylish, adjustable bed, fridge… If you arrived before check in you can ask for luggage storage. The only one minor drawback was the weak shower head.

Great location for a couple of nights.

The location was fabulous, busy noisy area, but right in the centre of it. The self checkin was easy. The room had all the basic necessities. The room and bedding were clean and comfortable, size wise and type of furniture.

The windows were double glazed to reduce the noise; the restaurant downstairs is very busy and goes late, but when windows are closed the room is stuffy. They have a fan no aircon. The staff from the restaurant also wander in and out of the front door drinking and smoking in the laneway, so security is a bit questionable when seeing this.

Great location, nice hotel but with quirks

Location was brilliant. Room was spacious and clean.

Self check in machine wasnt working. It looks like a cash machine so we had no idea it was the self check in. Joshua and Christina from the restaurant came to our rescue otherwise we would still be there! No one answers the phone. You get the code to the door and no further instruction. Thank goodness we didnt arrive in the middle of the night

Location. It is close city center.

There was no ventilation. There was no AC. The rooms were so hot that we were sweating the whole night. There was fan at the property but it was not good enough to get rid of heat in the room. I will not recommend this property because of this issue especially for folks travelling with kids.

Great hotel, but the self-check-in machine needs improvement!

We really liked this place as far as the facilities are concerned. The rooms are big, clean, and well equipped with everything we needed. The shower was big and worked well too.

The self check-in for us was unacceptable. The machine to do self check-in was not intuitive and didn't recognize our reservation. We had to get "Sam," a staff member, to help us through the process. It took us about 45 minutes to check in! I believe one problem is that the machine asks for an "ID Number" and not "reservation number." Anyway, it was not easy or quick for us and 3 others behind us trying to check in.

Location was great… very close to everything. Size of the room was also nice and spacious.

No air conditioning but they will give you fans if requested. Fortunately for us it was cool and rainy overnight but I can’t imagine staying there later in the summer without a/c.

Good location and our room was nice and clean.

There is no air conditioning and our room was quite hot. I read other reviews saying that a fan could be requested, but it took the staff over a day to grant this request. There are no staff onsite and they were not responsive over email or WhatsApp. Initially they responded saying we already had a fan in the room, which we did not, and then we didn’t hear back from them until the next day. We were only there for two nights and ended up receiving a fan the second day, but the first night was pretty uncomfortable. And the bigger issue is the lack of responsiveness. If no one is going to be onsite, I think there should be better monitoring of email/WhatsApp. We were lucky we only needed a fan, but if there was an emergency or we couldn’t get in the building for some reason, if keys stopped working, etc… the situation could have been much worse.

The worst hotel I stayed at in Switzerland

Good location

During my recent trip to Switzerland I stayed in 7 different hotels across the country and this one was hands down the absolute worst. I stayed in what was essentially an attic room (on the top floor) and it had no air conditioning. I later found out this is relatively common in Switzerland but all my other 6 hotels had AC. It was 80 F degrees outside, so at least 90 F degrees inside the room - we had to leave the window open but there was NO breeze so it didn't help at all. Because the window was open, a bird got in, in the early morning, that we had to get out ourselves because there's essentially no staff on the premises. Also the entire room was carpeted, including the bathroom, so the floor is totally stained yellow around the toilet, it was absolutely disgusting. The sink and shower are right in the middle of the main room, not in a separate bathroom. Lastly, the bed sheets had a blood stain on them, and the lamp on the right side of the bed was broken. For the amount of money I paid for this room, I felt scammed. It felt like a prison cell, not a hotel room. Never again.

Budget rooms in a good location

The location was good as it was near everything and close to the train station. The beds were comfortable. The room was very quiet.

Booked a twin superior room, ended up in the loft room. Very low ceilings especially near the bed. The shower is in the living room and the room is very small. They had left the window open so had a lot of little bugs when we arrived late. No staff on so you have to email if you want to contact them. No air conditioning in the room we were in.
