What I liked Great capsule layout and super convenient entry system — codes sent directly to your phone. You can leave your luggage at the partner capsule hotel in Old Town before check-in. The Lucerne Old Town Capsule Hotel felt like premium service for a small price — spotless bathrooms and showers, cleaned regularly, everything new and fresh, towels provided.Friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere — I’m sure if we had stayed there, it would’ve been a 100/10, but we we’ve booked THE LAB

What I didn’t like All the spaces at THE LAB felt a bit stuffy and outdated, clearly in need of renovation. Small lockers without locks — couldn’t really fit our things (no matter that we had just the carry-on) Shower and toilet in one tiny room, not very comfortable. Kitchen area looked neglected, soundproofing was weak. Good for one night only — for a real capsule experience, I’d recommend the Lucerne Old Town Capsule Hotel instead. It would be 100/10 compared to 6/10 THE LAB experience we had

No lock on lockers, I had to sleep with my luggages. They code system for entrance door but there is no safe locker that is possible to lock.

Great location. Organisation and communication was clear, very clean and also quiet. Having your phone as key is a brillant idea. Good stay for solo travelers or travelers on a budget. Not recommended if you turn/move a lot during your sleep

Temperature a bit cold inside facilities and capsule but manageable

Online check-in worked like a charm, very comfy capsules and very long too! I could leave my small backpack at my feet and not feel it. Facilities are great too! Double lighting and a plug are in the capsule. It also isolates the sound quite well, I didn't hear a thing at night.

There were issues signing into the system, and the motion-sensor light in the bathroom doesn't detect people showering in the stalls—causing the lights to go completely dark mid-shower. I had to finish my shower using my phone's flashlight, which was quite an awkward experience. On top of that, the kitchen under repair. Overall the experience not well for my first capsule hotel.

HOTEL: TheLAB is completely unmanaged. When you arrive you will be on your own as there is no reception desk and help can be only acquired by phone. This means that you will be unable to enter the building at all before 2pm when you get your code which makes it harder when you arrive in the morning. The capsules are spacious, there is AC and silence (some people wake up early and the doors are noisy). There are only 3 tiny showers. The Lounge and kitchen area are very poor but at least there is a room for that, just bring your own tea if you like. Having that said I was also visiting their Old Town Hotel in other part of the city. The place looks more modern, nicely designed and comfortable. There is cafeteria where you can peacefully eat breakfast, dinner, work and there always somebody to help at reception, the toilets and showers are spacious and clean. Definetely way better if you plan to stay longer. COWORKING: I, personally was also interested in the coworking space but not only there was very little information about it on the website but even the phone support had no idea how it works there or even that there is space like that. The coworking space itself looks fine, you will be most likely on your own and no disturbance. On the website there is very hidden little mention that its extra paid 30CHF and thats its even separate company (??) but there is nobody there and no online booking system, also when you write mail to them they will not respond so if they dont care then its on them. Still if they want me to pay for the night + coworking space then for this price I can find better alternatives and just get a room elsewhere. Last thing is that if you arrive on first day in the morning and start job as usual 8-9am then you will be unable to do so since you have no code until 2pm.

There was no much lighting in the common areas. Its always kind of dark. Check in details were not advised well in time, i had to send messages to get the details. This should be communicated well ahead of time.

I did like the fact that it felt clean in the bed. And I really did like that there’s a lock on the bed so I didn’t have to worry too much about locking up my bags. I could just lock it in my bed. I also like that there was another bathroom outside of the room, which was sometimes needed as a group of 10 men came at once and took over the bathroom that only has three stalls. The theme in the bed is very cute as well. I have not seen that before. Also plenty of places to charge your things, which was a big deal for me.

They really force you to use their app for the key instead of the code but for some reason it never worked for my bed. I had to keep leaning over for awhile for it to work and had to use the code anyway. There’s 5 security stops it’s way too many. Makes me scared of the area if you need that many. Also the sound of people closing their bed door is loud but unavoidable.

Very comfortable and spacious capsule. The place was clean. Very nice shared living/dinning room. 10-15 min walk from the main train station. The city centre is around the corner. Restaurants and shops nearby. Be aware that the toilet is in the same space as the shower, divided by a curtain. Slippers recommended.

Not really a dislike but there is no reception, it is a self check-in/check-out and the hostel area cannot be accessed till the check-in time. Although there are lockers and metal cords (BYO padlock), it’s not big enough for a medium trolley. You either use the cords or lock it inside the capsule.

Bathroom light sensor is not working properly. Immediately cutoff once inside toilet cabin. Kindly resolve immediately. Please give the response of our what’s up message (after office hours) during check in time.

Clean. Reasonable rates for an expensive city. Location not too far from train station and within walking distance.

Though this was a digitalized check-in, the instructions for installing a specific app so that one could check-in were not clear. Understand other clients had the same problem.

Accessing via app is convenient, everything is easy to find with all the instructions you can find in the building and in the communication in advance. Everything clean, comfortable and the common areas are also really nice incl the Coworking space. Location is perfect and price unbeatable!

The format of the lockers is kind of restrictive with regards to which lock you have to bring that might fit. An extension might help here or if fitting locks were provided.

There aren’t dryer hairs it’s necessary for the weather , too much warm inside the capsule and more cold in the room, could be good idea that it will have locker for using before check in

The place was very COLD! The space with capsules was freezing, you werent able to get warm there at all, which is essential after a long day in mountains :(. There was no staff on site and the number downstairs wont direct to the hotel in Lucern (only Zurych and Basyl). What is more, during the shower the lights went off!

During my overnight stay at the hostel, I was amazed by its modernity and technological advancements. It was the most advanced hostel I have ever experienced, with everything running based on the Internet of Things. I was able to effortlessly manage various functions without the need for any staff assistance. Not only that, but the hostel was exceptionally clean, creating a refreshing and pleasant atmosphere. The capsule-style accommodations provided a unique and cozy experience, ensuring maximum comfort and privacy. Additionally, the air conditioning system was excellent, guaranteeing a perfect temperature and ventilation with four complete air changes per hour. Overall, my stay at this hostel was a remarkable blend of modernity, cleanliness, and comfort.

Their attitude towards solving an issue. I had issue with checking in as it is totally digital, and the software asking me to pay again. It took me 1.5 hour + calling back and forth with booking.com. The staff was only 3 stories above and could let me login with one click(that is what they did after 1.5 hour). but they decided not to do it and forcing me to try logging in again and again. I had to call booking.com many times to resolve the issue. that costs another 20-30 Euros as I was on roaming. In short, the staff could have resolved the issue in just one click but they DID NOT.

When I first arrrived the internet was very very slow and I couldn't get anything done. It got better later. The capsule was way way too warm. Yes, the vents were not covered. Finally in the middle of the night it cooled down, but it was very uncomfortable until then. Hard to get dressed when you can't stand.

It was in a fantastic location. The capsules insulated sound very well.

The bathrooms were small and insufficient for the number of people. Ventilation in the capsule seemed poor, as it heated up a lot at night.

First time in a capsule hotel. It exceeded my expectations. Bed in the capsule was really comfy. Capsule is equipped with essentials (lights, plug etc). Enough space to sit upright for an averaged sized person (1,70 m). Thanks to a very low light it does not get totally dark insight.

Floor in the bathroom was wet most of the time. Which makes sense because the shower and the toilet are in the same space. It makes the air really warm and humid though.
