Fantastic Place to Visit Waterloo Battlefield From

Fantastic location - on the Waterloo battlefield in the British and Allied positions. Breakfast was much better than I expected having read reviews (we enjoyed it) and there was ample parking during October Half term holidays.

Room comfortable but a little tired and needing decoration - hence not a 10

One of the worst accommodation I have ever been, the toilet broken and we had to pay a room for a night due to hotel staff not explaining the information

Location location location (shame about the room)

The location is incredible and is what you pay for more than the facilities. I paid extra for the 'Napoleon' room with a battlefield view and it was well worth it for a history nerd like me.

Not impressed with the room at all, one of the wardrobe large glass doors was cracked and broken so had been literally taped together and shut with selloptape and there was a box of selected teas and cups but no kettle!

Historical Stays!

The Team is one of the friendliest I had the pleasure to be serviced by! Being located right in the Waterloo battleground was fascinating. They take such good care of us. This includes the staff of the adjacent, very good restaurant! Keep it up, Team!

I was "unlucky" to be there whilst the weather was a bit too good, and the heat made me miss an airco in the room. The fan did its best to keep me cool, though 😊

No assigned parking. Hotel guests were secondary to the hosted restaurant business. Also, house keeping did a mediocre job.

Hotel Great: Food Great: Restaursnt Service; Fawlty Towers!

The location for Waterloo battlefield was exceptional. The reception staff were exceptional. The restaurant food was great. Would recommend.

The restaurant service was abysmal. If you eat in the restaurant, expect to be served by a staff that received their customer service training from Basil Fawlty. That way, you will enjoy the great food and just accept that they feel obliged to serve you as unwelcome guests. It was so bad it was amusing. But then we were reflecting on scenes from Basil The Rat and other episodes!

Napoleon

The location was perfect. The restaurant on the premises is good. Great meats. On the last day, the receptionist was very helpful for finding a cab back to the airport.

The room was on the second floor without an elevator and did not feature proper windows. The beds are very small and uncomfortable. On two occasions, personnel entered the room without knocking. The room was not cleaned/service throughout the stay.

Fine for a one night stay especially if you are visiting the 1815 Waterloo museums

The hotel is very close to the 1815 Museum as well as the N5 a major road and is very popular as a brasserie for non hotel residents. The staff were very welcoming and helpful when we had a slight issue in the room. There is plenty of free parking and a decent breakfast

The bathroom is in need of refurbishment and the breakfast is very much a self serve operation and although adequate is not "best in Europe". The room would be better served with curtains rather than just a blind

Great way of statying in a historical battlefield

The staff were very nice and helpful although it was a struggle to communicate due to their English level. Breakfast was good and the hotel room that I was given was nice with views to the battlefield. The area is quiet at night and I slept very well.

Lack of availability of taxis. You are better off renting a car or using public transport.

Absolutely superb location looking over the Waterloo battlefield and 5 minutes walk from the Lion's Mount and Museum. Very comfortable beds. Windows were a bit small (portholes) on the second floor which didn't make the most of the view. Good breakfast!

Perfect location for the Waterloo battle field and museum. All in walking distance.

Check-in. Nobody on the desk on arrival, (mid-afternoon), and sign directed us to the adjacent restaurant. Staff in restaurant didn't want to know! Rained during the night and our room had two velux windows. It was noisy. Otherwise no complaints.

Restaurant was shut, and all adjacent restaurant was shut too. The bar was closed, to get any food or drink you needed to drive into Waterloo town. Bad value for money

Good value/experience, and right at the battlefield.

Was a last minute booking after our trip to the battlefield, and turned out great. I've forgotten his name.., but friendly check-in/reception, and we bought a few drinks from him, as well. Good spread of items for breakfast. I think it was an extra charge, but my wife and I thought it was worth it. The room was bigger than I was expecting, but I think we got upgraded because we got in late and it was the only room left. Don't quote me on that though. Also, you can walk right out of the hotel and see the Lion Mound lit up at night. Have a steady hand if you want a good picture.

The parking lot is tight, but we still managed to squeeze our CR-V into a spot without dinging anyone's door. You could also park along the road in front of the hotel, fyi. Lots of room out there.

Disappointing

Nothing

The room was excessively expensive for the quality provided. Really tiny, no desktop, barely space. No fridge inside. The parking was full, so no possibility to park my car at night. Breakfast too late, starting at 07:30, with no possibility to getting it in advance as a picnic breakfast. I wouldn't recommend it.

Friendly and helpful staff made our stay in this historic location very pleasant.

Fabulous location for the battlefield. Good mid-range hotel with excellent restaurant and breakfast. We stayed in the “Wellington” suite which was excellent.

Location can be difficult to find with satnav. Hotel description needs to include clear directions. The location is remote so apart from the hotel and the Italian restaurant next door there is very little to see or do in the evening. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room.
