Location, size of room

We were on the top floor and it was really stuffy in the room. In December! We also found blood stains on the sheets, which we changed ourselves after complaining.

The location was excellent. It was excellent value. The room was big enough and the shower was good

The decor was a bit tired. They didn't make my bed on any of the nights I stayed or take some of the rubbish away. All they did was change the towels. The walls are very thin and on the first night, the people next door were very loud it continued late into the night. There is no phone to ring down to reception to ask them to do something about it

Battlefields tour

The hotel was as expected, comfortable and convenient. The staff were helpful and friendly and gave us good advice on where to eat and how best to visit attractions. Parking for our 5 motorbikes was reasonably secure and free.

The hotel is in a strategic position for those who want to visit Waterloo and its history and need to reach Charleroi airport in half an hour. Equipped with all comforts, the rooms are basic, as is the bathroom. Very friendly staff, excellent cleaning. The parking is large and free. There is also a supermarket nearby and there are places to eat a very short distance away.

Good ! if it was not for that Bad Apple

1st day-Good selection of food but some food was short, may be its because I came late to the dinning area, but i was 10 minutes before closing time and they were packing up, which was disappointing. However remaining day I went early and it was good.

One night staff member at the desk was asked 1.30am " politely do you have a iPhone charger I can use for 20mins or so, he replied back "no I don't have one ! and i asked again please check if you have one and he replied back shouting with a loud tone voice, don't you understand I don't have one! ( like a barking dog) and the customers drinking alcohol at the bar, looked at him and my self and I replied back OK! I understand and i walked back to my room. I felt like shouting back at him to shut up that barking dog. ( This person, I do think needs training or he feels insecure with English language and should not be working at the reception desk as customer will not like this type of attitude as I experienced. This person alone would be rated as VERY BAD ! and please note -- One bad apple would spoil rest!

Left with a sour taste

We were explicitly told on check in that breakfast was included and everything was paid in advance, when we went down for breakfast we were asked our room number and ticked off the sheet. No problems. When we came to check out the guy behind the counter said “you need to pay $48 for your breakfast”, errr no we don’t you said it was included last night and never mentioned anything this morning. A heated debate followed during which I was called “dishonest” which I appreciate may have been a translation issue but still. It all left a very sour taste because we wound have gone to a local cafe had we have known that we were going to have to pay for the basic hotel breakfast. The mistake was made by the hotel but we were made to feel like criminals.

Free parking and English-speaking personnel at the reception are a big plus. Other than that, the hotel is disappointing. Smelly room, poorly equipped (no kettle, no fridge), with clogged drains causing a small flood when you shower.

A very good friendly, clean, bright & cheerful hotel and room. Exceeded expectations.

The staff were all great, very friendly and helpful. The room was excellent: much bigger, lighter and more attractive than expected for the price. Little touches like 5 euro coffee&croissant breakfast were appreciated.

A very minor issue: as a family of 3, we struggled with just one small bin in the room :-)
