SOL by Meliá Príncipe

The property is in a great location, right on the beachfront. A short walk from restaurants and bars and there’s a Mercadona really close. The hotel itself is fabulous. The Kidsdom staff and shows were great, the pool areas are fabulous. I liked that the staff are monitoring loungers and serving a warning to people who have been absent from the pool along time, eventually removing belongings if they have been gone longer than an hour. There’s always something going on for kids and the evening shows were suitable for the whole family too. The reception staff were great, we had breakfast included but asked about eating in the restaurant one night and was advised it was still possible to upgrade to half board which we did for the last 2 nights for €31pp. Would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to return ourselves.

Apart from the room not being as clean as I’d like on arrival (which was sorted as soon as I reported) the stay was faultless.

The hotel has been upgraded since we last visited few years ago. We have stayed 5-6 time . The beach is just few minutes walk . It's clean and airy.

The only downfall is the food. We are vegan vegetarian and there is no choice for vegetarian meals . It's more for meat lovers. I sent the hotel so many emails before my travels that all of us who staying with you are vegetarian and can you please pass it to the kitchen staff . I received an email saying the chef will accommodate you once you arrive which didn't happen. Spoke to the manager on our first day he got us some vegan food from the kitchen. His name is jaun and he is so helpful . Thank you jaun. The rest of the days he was off and no body wanted to know even though we asked again to a different manager but no one bothered so we basically filled our selves with chips and salad. The room cleaning services are poorly. They come to clean your room 4-5 o'clock in the evening. By the time you come back towards evening they still cleaning rooms and they not done our rooms. We use to say leave it now we just want to chill before dinner.

We were charged extra money when we arrived as I hadn’t included people in the booking which I thought I had.

The animation team was great and super friendly and really put in the effort for the kids to have a great time. The events and performances they held every night were great and really entertaining. The pools are great, really big and clean. Location is also fantastic and the staff at the front desk are wonderful as well.

The "All inclusive" option was definitely not worth the money. The food was bland and way too few options. The bars near the pool only have chips as a snack to offer and another one only offers cold fries and churros. The food definitely did not taste good and with that amount of money, we could have easily enjoyed several meals outside the hotel. Also the staff at the bars act as if they are doing you a favor by giving you a drink or a snack just because you have all inclusive. The treatment was definitely not friendly. Even asking for a bottle of water seemed like a burden for them. Also there were no water bottles in the room, which is terrible with the heat. And when we asked for tea sachets in the room, they said no we dont provide that.
