Great location and lovely staff. There's a lovely indoor warm pool which was the main reason I stayed at the hotel. A lovely small hotel which is well located and has a nice warm welcome by the staff.
The doors to the rooms slam so loud! Sound dampening for the doors seems like a no-brainer. Especially for a 4 star hotel. It is the only reason why I wouldn't return. Also there just seemed to be a general lack of love by management for the hotel. The bathroom needed a good scrub as there was green grime on the tap. There was a leak from the bathroom ceiling. Also there was a lovely new mattress on the bed but the duvet (inside the cover) was really dirty. It really turned my stomach when I spotted how dirty it was.

The staff - bless ‘em - are pleasant but if they’re not even allowed to give guests a tea bag for the room they’re clearly under very tight control.
What a funny old hotel. Presumably recently purchased by MS and only half restored since chairs in dining room are still branded for another chain. No doubt this place will be closed and brought up to standard eventually but until then it’s probably one to avoid unless very cheap. It was cold in the evenings - the heating worked for one night but nothing after that. There’s a kettle and cup the room but we were told that a tea bag was not available but I could buy some from a supermarket in town! For £577 I hoped for more. I paid for a suite and was told I’d been upgraded due to my MS Hotels loyalty card Goodness knows what my standard suite would be if this is an upgrade! Our concrete bunker’s terrace shields us from a concrete compound where the two big drains on the other side of our concrete dwarf wall have the lids removed so they’re open and smelly.
